Accepted! Canadian here. Where are my fellow Canadians? I think I was the only Canadian on the Nov. 27 interview day.

Congrats to all who have been accepted!

The first day was July 30th for my class, with the White Coat Ceremony the day before. My M2 year starts August 5th. I don't know what that means as far as your class is concerned.

For what it's worth, they had a timing issue this year. Last year we had White Coat the week after you (eg the weekend after orientation week) and I think that's how it was normally done. This year the FSACOFP (Florida chapter of the osteopathic family physicians group) had their annual conference the first weekend in August, so they moved the ceremony up to the weekend before classes started because a decent chunk of the administration, including the Dean, was going to that conference. Don't know if they're changing back or not, but it looks like that conference is happening through August 4 next year.

We also started fall classes July 30 this year, so August 5 is probably a decent guess at first day of classes.

There are 230 students that matriculate into each class at NSU, and 107 people are already in the Facebook group for the class of 2017.

Assuming that everyone that was accepted hasn't joined the Facebook group, doesn't that mean that this class is probably close to full already?

I have an interview in January, so I'm curious to see what my chances are. I would really like to attend this school.

MCAT: 30P
GPA: 3.82

They accept more than what they matriculate. Most schools do.

Keep in mind there are some current students in that facebook group and also that not everyone on there had paid their deposit (read not sure if they are going to really attend in the fall). Also, schools accept more students than there are spots because not all of them matriculate.

Anyways, I think you have a good chance. Just turn in your secondary and let the waiting begin!

I received an email saying that I did not schedule my interview within a week of receiving an invite. I replied to the email and i hope i can straighten this is. Are invites supposed to come by email?

Yes. Did you get an II? NSU has been kind of disorganized lately

I got the same email! I hope this isn't an error! I emailed Anastasia who said she would send me another invite. (I never received an invite) There's a glitch somewhere in the system...

Does anyone know the admissions' coordinator name or email?

minibumping this question (I did an in-thread search before asking, y'all. bonus points?)

Their website gives almost no information and I can't find it in the directories online. I called but the secretary says they're not given any info about admissions except what papers we're missing. WEIRD. I'm starting to think NSU is so big, a part of it reaches into the Bermuda triangle. Things "happen." People and emails disappear...

EDIT:

Anastasia found. thanks

+1! Scheduled for 1/24. Not sure of my complete date. First interview invite!!!!!

I will be interviewing in January. What is the interview day like. Tour then interviews or interviews then tour? Group/single? Open/closed? Waiting room over-crowded with people sitting on arm rests or comfortable number of people?

There are already a few lengthy reviews on this thread but long story short you start of the day with a group presentation then half interview/half tour the HPD building then switch. Hands on stuff, lunch and then a tour of the whole campus.

The day first starts off with an introduction to Nova in a small conference room with all the interviewees. Everyone is split into two groups. Group 1 will interview first, while group 2 goes on a short tour of the school. You will sit in the waiting room with DO and PA applicants until your name is called, and you'll interview with two people for 15 minutes, open-file. You are the only interviewee in your interview. IMO Nova was my favorite interview because the interviewers were great. No pressure at all, but they may ask you about a blemish on your transcript just for the sake of asking and hearing what you have to say about it. But it is super easy. You'll have lunch with the dean (eat a large breakfast or put snacks in your pocket. I regret I didn't and was starving by lunchtime) after the tour. His knowledge on every area of the country is insane, along with his mustache. Then there is an optional campus-wide tour. I didn't do that. And then you're done!!!

You forgot the part with the magic carpet ride with uncle fester where he takes you to ride unicorns on the beach with David hassellhoff. That made me decide to go to nova.

Didn't care for that much. David Hassellhoff was rude and I almost didn't choose Nova for that very reason.

I was accepted into Nova, but I am in a post bacc program and am struggling in a few classes. There might be a chance I could fail one (D). I was wondering if anyone knew what would cause Nova to revoke an acceptance?

Mizzou accepts their class size and doesn't go to the wait list until someone they accept declines the spot.

I got this same email today, saying that they were withdrawing my file since I didn't schedule my interview within 1 week of receiving the invite. Um, no, I never received an email. Freaked out for a moment there, thinking that my email is being glitchy but it sounds like the problem is with Nova.

Ha that email gave me one of those "oh god I've lost control of my life" moments.

That still means they accept more than they matriculate. It dawned on me now that you're probably just talking about how they go about granting acceptances along the way, not necessarily the numbers at the end. My bad.

Just moved my interview up a month to January.

Niceeeeee. Feb 21st is open now, btw.

I woke up to that in my inbox. I'll take it as good news. January 10th anyone?

Are you guys scheduling through the NOVA interview scheduler? I'm not seeing any open dates and wondering if my system is glitching or if it's really all booked up?

Question: According to one of the admissions assistants my materials are in, however I have not received an official complete email. I have an NSU ID but I can't log in to Webstar. Should I have a PIN or does that come with an interview invite or complete email?

You have to set up an account. When you go to Webstar click first time user account at the bottom to set one up.

Sorry, I scheduled it two weeks ago. I'm not on sdn that much. I looked today and there was only one day left in march I think.

For anyone interviewing on the 13th, another SDN'er and I are planning on grabbing dinner the night before. I've done this for all of my past interview and it's always great to get to know some fellow interviewees. If anyone else wants to join, shoot me a PM 🙂

I have been refreshing the scheduler link at random times during the day. It's an obsession.

For reals. I find it hard to believe that there isn't a single opening, especially since others have been posting in the past couple of days that they've scheduled January interviews. I finally but the bullet and called to try and schedule my interview through a real person (which was no cakewalk to get through to someone, btw) and the lady pretty much said to go through the scheduler. If there's no openings there then there really aren't any openings. I'm a little suspicious...

This problem is actually the norm here. I have met several people in my interview trail that were invited for an interview but they just didn't have enough interview dates open to accommodate all their invitee. It seems that they invite more people than they can actually interview. Disorganization? Maybe this is one example of why everyone complains about their admin.

how did u move it up a month? did you call them? or did you just regularly check online?

Keep checking online! Yesterday when I looked for the first time the only available date was March 7th. Then I saw on SDN that other ppl were getting Jan dates so I checked again. About 4 had opened up and I was able to switch mine to 1/24.

Yeah, actually I would say that the administration left me feeling awkward about this school. It's a bad first impression to create in an applicant's mind. Nevertheless, I am holding onto my acceptance!

I agree, and it seems that a lot of their currents students do as well, but i think their good outweighs this by a ton

mine was originally scheduled for Dec back in Sept when I got ii, but I kept checking the portal everyday and was able to move my interview date back up to mid Oct.

so keep checking everyday!

Interviewed here yesterday. Figured I would post my thoughts about the school and interview as I always do 🙂

Interview day: It was mentioned earlier but I guess I'll just repeat it again here so future interviewees don't have to look through the thread too far back. After a welcome speech, you're split into two groups. One tours first and the other interviews first. Personally, I thought that this interview was the "hardest" out of the ones I've been to. I put it in quotes because I kind of felt like I was being grilled by my interviewers but in a nice way, so it wasn't really that bad. I wasn't asked any of the standard questions except maybe 'why NSU'. Everything else was specific to me or my application. Time flew by since it only lasted 15-20 minutes. Oh yeah, and eat a huge breakfast. Everyone was starving by the time it was lunch (around 1).

Area: The area around the school is great, and I was told my a current student that everything you need is conveniently located close to the school. So if you want to get something to eat, there are food places everywhere around the school and in the school. If you need to go to the pharmacy, it's across the street. If you need groceries, you only need to go down the street a little bit. The area is safe too, and not to mention it's less than 30 min from the beach. Also, the weather here is amazing. We're in the middle of December and it's in the 80's here! We don't even get that in socal! The only thing that some people may find annoying is the high humidity, but I like humid weather so, eh.

School: There's no question. It's awesome. I was extremely impressed throughout the interview day. I highly suggest that everyone takes the optional tour that's after the lunch. If you do, you'll get to see the rest of the campus with the awesome gym and huge library. I don't think I've ever seen a library that big in my life. Or a gym that big lol. The whole school pretty much looks like some kind of resort. I definitely got a younger vibe at NSU compared to schools like AZCOM, and that really appealed to me. I think it's awesome that you get placed in a society (similar to Houses in Harry Potter), and that they're like your family. The current students also talked about how close knit everyone in the class is despite there being 200+ students. I also judge a school a lot on the current students, and the ones we met yesterday were super friendly and helpful! Oh yeah, and we were told that the incoming class gets ipads 😀. The only thing with the tour was that they couldn't show us the anatomy lab, so I'll have to look into that on my own.

After both groups did the interview, the current med students taught us how to listen to the heart and lungs, and take the bp of a standardized patient. One of the physicians (I'm assuming faculty) also came in and talked to a group of us while we were standing around one of those robotic 'patients'. The doctor then had the guy behind the computer program different situations, and we could use the steths they let us borrow to listen to the heart and lungs. It was really cool to hear the wheezing noise as the 'patient' breathed, and being able to compare the left and right lungs to see if one or both of the lungs were compromised. The physician also talked us through a bunch of hypothetical situations- ex: the pt was in an accident and had carbon around his mouth/nose and burn marks -> prob had smoke inhalation -> damaged his upper airways -> program dummy so we can hear what that would sound like. None of my other interviews did anything like this and I was seriously just blown away. My group also went into a classroom and got to put on these stethoscopes with a box at the end and listen to the 'heart' as a med student changed the rate and condition of the 'patient' (not sure what class this was for). That was also awesome!

That's all I could think of for now. If I remember something I'll add it on but for now I need to get ready and pack up to catch my flight back to CA. If I get accepted, there's a very good chance that I'll withdraw my acceptance at AZCOM to attend NSU. Man I hope I get in. Woo!

tl;dr - epic.
