lol you need to remain calm. im pretty sure there are people who interviewed in Sept. that are still waiting

Admissions committee should be meeting tomorrow, right?

"Interviewed Oct 24th and received the "outstanding requirements" email two days ago. I was surprised today when I received an acceptance letter in the mail because I still haven't received an email from them. Looks like there is no definite MO for sending out acceptances.[/quote]

Was accepted, November 15. Yay!!!!!

I just got another thanksgiving email for the accepted students and they forgot to blind copy all the recipients so judging from that email only 100 students have been accepted so far so everyone hang in there!!!

Good to know, there's hope yet!

Well what's even more good news is assuming that not all of the 100 students will put down the deposit. 😉

Reading about Nova on SDN, I noticed that a lot of posters mention getting a call once their file is complete. Is this something that Nova is still doing this year? And if so, how long is the usual turn around time between having everything turned in and getting the call? Having everything turned in and an interview invite?

I turned in the secondary October 23rd and all the other materials were received by Nova (per WebStar) by October 25th, but I have not heard a peep from them. Stats are non-traditional applicant: cGPA 3.58, sGPA 3.83, and MCAT of 34 but I got into a little trouble as a wee youth so I am wondering if it is red flagged.

I was complete as of 10/28 according to WebStar and never received a call either. I called the admissions office because I was feeling paranoid and they told me that they have everything and my application is under review though.

Congrats. What time did you receive the email?

Seems like everyone is knowing their admissions status except me 🙁
No worries! I haven't received anything either... 😕 And I interviewed 10.31, soooo...... *crickets*

For all you who got accepted and to anyone who goes to Nova osteopathic school or any graduates. Do you prefer/recommend on campus housing or off campus housing? I am trying to decide. I like the security of on campus, but I also would like a full apartment like off campus. I am not sure. Anyone have any tips?

I can comment on the on-campus housing (Rolling Hills) since that's where I'm currently living. I started off with the quad and applied for themed housing. That means they try to match you with roommates/ floormates who are in the same program. In my opinion, it's not really that well themed, but in the case that you do get other DO student roommates, it's nice to have someone to talk to at the end of the day. Later on I moved to the single and life is a lot better now. I highly recommend getting the single over the quad if you can.

RH comes furnished so you only really need to bring sheets, kitchen necessities, and bathroom stuff. It's nice not to worry about shipping furniture/buying furniture/making furniture. Another good thing is that there's a free shuttle that takes you to class, the gym, mall, and grocery store, so if you don't have a car (although I highly recommend you get a car before coming here), there's at least a way for you to get around. It's also badge access only with 24/7 security.

I think it's nice to live here for first year while you're adjusting to med school because it's so convenient and you don't need to worry about anything. But my friends and I are going to move out for second year to some off-campus apts, which I'll let someone else comment about.

Does anyone have Linda Feeris phone number? I too have been waiting 45 days and I need to get to the bottom of this. Calling the health profession division isn't helping.

Search this thread for "housing". I've replied to several people inquiring about housing. Click on the search bar and be sure to select "search this thread".

There are tons of apartment complexes around campus, several that are within a stone's throw, and many others within 5 miles of campus. I would start looking south of 595. Traffic around the interstate is annoying in the morning, to say the least.

I was hoping to live close enough to campus where I won't need a car (at least for the first 2 years). Wouldn't a shuttle be all I need? I was hoping I could get by with the shuttle and a bike before rotations start. I'm trying to save money and not having to buy a car/ buy insurance would be nice.

Also, why are you moving off-campus? Is it cheaper?

I know some people without cars and they really wish they brought one now. It's true that you could just depend on the shuttle, but the problem is that the shuttle can get a little unreliable, especially as you get later into the day. Past 6:00 PM, there's a good chance you'll be waiting 15-20 minutes for a bus that should have already arrived. RH is really close to campus though (about 10-15 min walking), so you at least have the option of walking home/to class in the case that the shuttle fails to arrive on time. If anything, get a bike with a basket or something. I have a friend that bikes to class and to the grocery store and it seems to work really well for her. The only problem is that she has to bike to the grocery store at least once a week.

The only reason why I decided to live in RH for my first year was because I wanted a setting where I could adjust to med school and figure out how I function the best. I'm getting the picture now, so there's no point in me living here anymore. My parents also have a bunch of extra furniture and have been asking me to take it, so I'll probably just ship that over so I don't have to worry about buying furniture. I also want to bring my cat from home next year, and RH doesn't allow pets. My friend said that cost wise it's about the same, at least where we're planning on moving, but I'm not 100% sure. Chances are I'm going to get a 2 bedroom and I think it's more expensive than what I'm currently paying. I'm going to have to go to the leasing office after our exams or something and check out the apt sizes and pricing. We'll see!

I called this morning; my application is still under review. I was told they are making decisions every day and sending out acceptances and I should hear back by the end of the year. Good to know.

one can only hope. But if they make decisions everyday that means they passed an acceptance for us almost 50 days. Idk if that's good or bad lol
