What does a background check entail anyway? Other than the obvious criminal history?

Credit checks, SSN. And according to the Nursing program at Nova...it's also an employment verification and eligibility of re-hire.

I have a few traffic violations ...but it doesn't look like they check your Motor Vehicle Record. And I am considered non-rehirable at some retail places. But I was teenager and didn't value having a job until I was 20. Oops...

Ah! gotcha. Credit checks and SSN do sound reasonable. I doubt they'd care much if you were blacklisted at Target or something when you were 18. That seems silly to me. I wouldn't worry too much about your driving record. I know for a fact that when military checks your background and they run the inquiry it only shows misdemeanors and felonies, and if you were a victim of whatever crimes.

Yeah I didn't understand the concept of "working" on weekends. Did a couple no call/no shows" :X lol

They have already filled the class and stopped interviewing earlier than previous years (even though they had the "backlog").

My guess is that they were intimidated by the large number of pending applications, accepted or waitlisted most of the earlier applicants, and decided to cut interviews earlier, thereby leaving people who applied late summer and afterwards with even less a chance. Seems lazy on their part, especially since many of the "late" applicants (as if a late summer application is late) have been "under review" for many months.

The last adcom meeting on the eighth of April only happens if they haven't finished filling the class. They have already filled the class and stopped interviewing earlier than previous years (even though they had the "backlog").

True, but I think you're over generalizing. I've seen people post they applied in October and still got an ii, and accepted.
Although I thought not a lot of people accepted their acceptances. It seemed like many people withdrew/declined. Who really knows though...

Wow! LOL. Positive outlook huh?! I was complete in October and got an ii in January so......

L.O.L. Less a chance does not = "no chance." Congrats to you. Nova is a good school.

Thankfully I've been admitted to multiple schools, but I really did not appreciate the lack of responsiveness over the last half-year. Bluntness is a better policy than "you've been under review."

Thanks! I do have to admit to sharing your sentiment in regards to some other schools.

Yeah, to be honest I'd rather hear "we're full" or you're been waitlisted then just kind of ignoring the people who've interviewed since January..

I interviewed the first week of February. Still haven't heard back. Have I missed out? How do they respond to applicants?

No, you didn't miss anything, no one from February and even late January groups heard anything. From what I have understood, acceptances are sent via email, and wait lists - via snail mail.

Hm I received wait list notification by email, followed by a letter. Then again, this was early September so maybe they changed the way they are notifying applicants.

Hey so I was taking a look at the vague data on NSU's website. Since the merger will take into effect, would the AOA/ACGME be 139+70 = 209?
The military residency programs are separate correct? Or are they a apart of ACGME?

Also does anyone know the first time pass rate for the COMLEX Level 1? The website lists about Level 3 only.

Still a 99.5% pass rate is amazing. I realize not everyone in the Class of 2013 participated in the match for whatever reason.

hmm 40 something people didn't participate in the match? I highly doubt that. Maybe those people chose not to report their match results.

The match is still separate. The only thing that merged is the accreditation

I'm not sure how many people are in the c/o 2013, but I believe the match lists are self-reported. There will be people who choose not to submit their match results, especially those who didn't match.

In my WebStar account I saw a new entry today - Transcript Bachelors from my university is required. Did anyone else get that? Do I have to send my transcript myself?

I have to pay a $2000 deposit for a different school on Monday... wish that they would have stuck to the initial 6 week time frame. It would have worked out perfectly.

If it already appears in your webstaar it's legit. They don't just have that appear on there for every applicant. Trust me on this. I bet you $10 you got accepted.
I wish you are right!!! Can we accept bets on this forum? I am in, lol!

Spidey1588, who told you the class was full?...And even if it was, schools accept way more than the number of seats available knowing people will go to other schools. Also, no more IIs does not equal the end of the cycle. There are still people with interviews scheduled. Acceptances or waitlist movement can still happen.

Obviously it's been a hectic year for the admissions department, and that sucks for this year's applicant pool, but you all just have accept it, keep your head up, and keep working toward your goal.

Haha, guys, I want to get happy, but it is so strange that I was told today that no drcisions have been made yet.

It's a process. They have to update files, get acceptance letters signed, emails written, update webstar, etc, etc. Plus nobody is allowed to tell you you've been accepted unless it's the official email or letter you get. It's not a guarantee you're in...but it's a darn good sign!

Hey I was wondering where you see that request for your Bachelor Transcript on Webstar? I'm not very familiar with it.

Login to webstar.nova.edu with user ID and password that you created when filling out secondary app, click on Application 2014, and you can see your requirements there in the requirement tab.

That's what they all say. I called admissions once I got an email with missing documents, and they said no decisions were made. Then 2 days later... I got An acceptance email with the letter dated 3 days before i made that
Phone call

Thanks, KahukuMonkey! It is a good sign to see any kind of updates at this point)

Hey, Congrats! It's nice to see NSU going through applicants. When did you interview, if you don't mind me asking?

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but I have had the transcript requirement from my undergrad school since before I had my interview in January. I noticed it in November before I even got an ii. I received an ii mid December. I have yet to hear any back in regards to an acceptance. I have called and asked about it and and my file is still pending a decision

LOL! Well if you're gonna do it, you gotta do it right I guess. We're just all so serious here.
