Nova Southeastern Univ (NSU-COM) Discussion Thread 2013 - 2014

For those who stayed at the Hampton, what did you do with your luggage while you were interviewing? Do they hold your luggage for you. I don't want to book another night just so I have somewhere to leave my stuff.

Hotels usually have a luggage room to hold your stuff, and NSU's admissions office will hold some items as well.

The Hampton brought my luggage to the school after my interview to take me to the airport. Super easy and stress free all-around. I'd stay there for sure. Seriously they are flawless in their execution. Lol.

I second that. I stayed there for my interview today and they were happy to hold it. They even offered to give me my room back for like an hour after to shower and change but it was booked this afternoon. Definitely ask if you can though because they will offer.

Thank you, Jumpstartmy5HT, asanch, and Duff84.

I was wondering, how long in advance should I book my stay? My interview is on 9/10. Would it be wrong to wait until one or two days prior to my flight to book the room, or should I book it now? Plus, how do I tell them to pick me up from the airport? Do I call them when my flight lands in Fort Lauderdale Airport?

Thanks

Hey Ibn. I booked mine when we all found out quite awhile ago. I was able to get 99 a night for the room and 300 round trip for the flight, from la. I would probably book it sooner than later..

I suppose the room is a bit pricier than others but it seems like it's worked out for the past year and this one. Not sure about your airport question.

I'm flying from LAX too. My flight stops first in Atlanta, and then there's another flight from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale. Is yours non-stop?

When are interviews here usually till? Spots seem to be filling up quick.

Yeah call the front desk and they will send someone to get you, otherwise you could be standing at the airport/hotel pickup for a while...

Uhhhg I want to know if I get an interview. I got my new mcat score and it went from a 26 to 29 so hopefully that helps! I hate waiting...nova show me some loveeee

Just submitted my secondaries to NOVA. Crossing my fingers!

I am so worried abt the lunch, I am a loud eater.

Then be first off the elevator to the 5th floor, first in line, and sit to the back of the room near the food. You have a few minutes to eat before the dean comes in. He sits at the head of the table. And DO NOT sit where there are no papers placed on the table.

I sat next to him during the lunch, and at some point, I became really conscious of how loud the chips were crumbling in my mouth. I moved onto the cookie. All was well.

Heck. I walked in late and made everyone wait for me to get food. Like a boss.

Did you interview yesterday? If so I remember you lol! I was in the corner of the table, woman in light brown pants suit. I also thought the chips sounded like thunder after an hour of sitting there.

I interviewed on Tuesday. No light brown pant suit for me! Hah

Hahaha I think it's funny you're worrying about how loud you chew your food. I remember being exhausted by the time lunch came around, and even with a full yet nervous stomach I somehow managed to doze off for a minute at the table. I don't remember who spoke with us during lunch but it wasn't the dean. I remember that much.

Good luck everyone!

ur gonna make it bro dont worry

Thanks Bro.

/bro hug.

Feel ya. I want this ii bad. Even if it ends up being nothing more than seeing this school 😛

Same--even if I get rejected, I'd love to see the school---and meet the Dean!

We have nearly identical stats and I applied in December and got in. Just kill the interview!

CONGRATS!

Hopefully I'll be able to join ya next year!

Haha would be awesome! The next couple weeks are going to take forever long.

Hi guys I am totally new to this forum and this website actually. My interview is on sept 24th looking to meet anybody else interviewing that day. Also, to those that have interviewed already how as it?

This has been my top choice for medical school since high school. There is just something about this school that draws me in and I cannot wait for the interview. I truly hope I get in. The school, facilities, and location are on point. There really isn't a more perfect school for me.

Good luck to everyone! Don't be disheartened and don't ever give up. After reading this whole thread I realized my stats are pretty much the lowest ones so far and I still got an interview so just keep at it. Be completely honest and show them who you are. Just my two cents 🙂

Great way to go into any interview! Keep that in mind and breath deep. I got asked Why DO? Tell me about a time you had a leadership position. And a couple questions pertaining to my app.

Here's the thing, I thought Nova was my top choice too. I was so excited to go! But after my day there I didn't feel like it was a good fit for me. Still trying to sort it out. I think it's because our group did not get a very good tour due to it being an exam day. We only saw hallways and doors. We also had almost zero time with students. I loved the sim lab portion and working with the actual simulators! That got my heart beating. I admit the lunch was one of the longest of my life. This is just my perception. Have an interview at ACOM Friday and will see if it changes. Have an open mind and be sure to apply broadly so you have many options.

Good luck and just go in with a smile, be nice to everyone and you will rock it!!!!

Thanks! That is some awesome advice. I'm sorry to hear your interview experience wasn't the greatest. It's all a learning process even the interview stage. Hopefully you get accepted into the school that is the best fit for you! The sim lab sounds spectacular! Can't wait to experience that myself. I have an interview at ACOM too but not until early october. Seems like I'm following in your footsteps hahaha! Good luck with ACOM and thank you again for the help!

You must have interviewed this past Thursday... we had a huge exam and the M1s had their first exam the next day. Sorry to hear about your impression, but I understand the frustration in not being able to talk to current med students. Let me know if you have any questions.

I will be interviewing Sept 24 as well, look forwarding to meeting you!

My interview is this Thursday! I am extremely excited and also super nervous! Nova is definitely my top choice for DO. Dreading the five hour drive tomorrow night... then have to head straight back home to make an exam early Friday morning. Then it's another day of driving on Sunday night for my LECOM interview on Monday...

Awww man I feel really bad now. Thursday was M2 exams and we had our first set of exams on Friday and we were literally all holed up in the library studying. Sorry you didn't have an awesome interview day but if you get accepted and find yourself doubting wether or not to go, make sure you talk to some of the students. A lot of them are super friendly and maybe they can change your mind? I feel bad that our complete inability to notice anything but our textbooks all week ruined your interview day 🙁

+1, I had this issue at both my interviews thus far, I guess I'm not picking the best interview dates...

Btw I just realized we were interview buddies most of the day haha!!! Best of luck on the rest of your interviews!
