Nova Southeastern Univ (NSU-COM) Discussion Thread 2013 - 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congratulations! Did you just find out today? Maybe that means that there is hope for those who haven't heard anything.
I found out three days ago.

congrats. what are your stats?
and are you accepting the offer?

3.56 GPA, 3.55 sGPA, 27 MCAT and most likely accept the offer if I don't get into Marian. Have family living in IN and would rather go there instead even though the school's new.

For those that have been accepted, did they notify you via a phone call or just email?
I interviewed 10/10 and I'm still waiting for a response.
I remember they were saying the committee meets bi-weekly, and I think the last meeting was Oct 22nd. I'm hoping they review previous interviewees and waitlisted applicants at each meeting..

Good luck to a fellow 10/10 interviewee!

Have you been to Marian yet? What's your impression? I've been to CUSOM and Nova and have an interview at Marian coming up, just wondering how it compares

To those of you that got acceptances or atlernates, who was the letter signed by? Trying to get an idea of who is the admission counselor is now since Anastasia, but the website says nothing

It should be by email from Brian Waitekus. If it's a letter it's most likely a waitlist.

Has everyone been notified? Because I'm starting to lose hope...

Same here, interviewed 9/19 and it's been a looooonnggggg month and a half

My first DO II!
3.85 sgpa/3.85 cgpa/ 31 MCAT
Took a while, but I applied late. Applied early Sept. and scheduled for Jan.

I have a couple of MD acceptances, but love south florida enough to seriously consider NSU if I like what I see.

You'll be sorely tempted. NSU has the look and feel of an established MD school. With all the talk of waitlisting and NSU not being high on my list at first, I was basically thinking of this as my first chance to put on an impressive interview. While it WAS a great first outing and I realized what answers I need to work on, etc., I now actually really hope I get accepted here. They impressed me quite a bit.

I thought they would email you regardless of what the decision was. So I guess if there is a packet in the mail it means bad news and an email means good news?

My letter was signed by "Monica Sanchez, Admissions Counselor"

Hey Vegan, congrats on the invite. May I ask when your application was complete at Nova and when exactly you received the II? Thanks.

Having only been waiting two weeks, I now appreciate your hardship in waiting so long. I've been scouring this thread and anxiously checking my email every morning hoping for an acceptance! Just keep swimming swimming swimming

Does anyone know the fax number to admissions? I'm trying to send a letter of intent but It is so hard to find. Who else can I contact? Thanks for help!

I emailed Linda.. I also mentioned I wanted a confirmation that it was received but no response yet, Ill keep you updated

I know Linda never responds to me lol. She's probably just busy. But still...

I'm sorry, but that is unacceptable for a medical school. A month and a half + and no reply? I would have some serious doubts about a school at this point.

They told us Nov 8th at the latest so that's this week. Hopefully we all here back with something!

I was complete Sept 10, and received the II this Friday. Coincidentally (or perhaps not so coincidentally) a day after I called to check on my status.

HASJFLKHSDKJFHSDJK accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Interviewed on 10/15 and like someone else said, I felt not great after my interview. They asked me 2 questions and didn't seem very enthusiastic and were grilling me a bit so i left feeling a little disappointed..so for anyone else who had a similar experience, keep your hopes up!
Honestly a bit surprised I got accepted since so many people were getting waitlisted. But this seems like an awesome school, now I just have to decide between this and UNE..

Accepted just now via email! Interviewed early October.

ACCEPTED!!! Long wait, but so worth it! 9/19 interviewee...

Congrats to everyone, and I'll see you guys and gals in the Fall!!

Accepted!!!! Aaaaahhhh!!! Longest wait but worth all the pain!!!

Int 9/19

Congrats to all accepted and see you this fall!!!!

Congrats all, maybe the first few interview groups didn't fit how they wanted? Haha. Meh. (I was in one of those groups)

Same here! Accepted today via email, interviewed on 9/19! I'm so thrilled that I won't have to reapply next year! I can hardly believe it! I'M GONNA BE A DOCTOR!

AMEN!
Just saw this as I was posting lol. Congrats!

Reading all these accepted posts is very bittersweet for me. I am genuinely happy for them, but I'm also upset at Nova. I would have saved soooooo much money had I gotten accepted to Nova months ago.

Oh well.

Congrats all. I interviewed Oct. 17, and I'm always anxiously checking my email every 5 minutes M-F during business hours. Although, compared to those that interviewed 9/19, I guess I could be waiting a while. I called admissions and they said submitting additional LORs and a letter of intent is always welcomed. So I did.😉 Hopefully that will help too.

I noticed that the majority of ppl accepted have same MCAT score as me, but my sGPA/cGPA are way higher then theirs. I'm not saying I'm a shoe-in, but it does give me hope.

Prayinggg 🙈

Congrats you two! Were they by mail or email?
It was by email, but the message came in around 430 so I think they may have stopped (my last name starts with a G so maybe more of them will be out tomorrow, last week it seems that they sent notices on Mon and Tues)

Good luck r0bbaa! Hoping to see your good news posted here soon!

Did anyone else get an email about missing required documents specifically transcripts from previous colleges???

YES! I got that email about 30 minutes before I received my acceptance. I was sitting in class and almost had a heart attack thinking it was my acceptance or wait list decision but it was the missing documents and I was super confused. The missing documents are your official transcript from your undergrad once you graduate! I'm assuming you are accepted right?

Yeah, that means you're accepted. No reason they'd ask unless you were.

So happy for all those recently accepted!! I just got my official letter in the mail so it took about a week from the time i got the email.

How were you cheated?

Congrats everyone!

I'm a reapplicant. I applied last year to Nova super late, and got one of the last interview slots. By then, I was an inevitable WL. This year, I learned from my mistakes, applied super early, just to get WL'ed again. This time, though, I can't explain why that would be.

You and pretty much everyone else who interviewed in the first 6 or so groups.

It just seems fishy that nearly everyone gets WL'd, then this anastasia thing happens, and now its back to normal figures. I just highly doubt that everyone in the first groups were not qualified...

ACCEPTED! OOS, interviewed 9/24. 3.9, 36.

Good luck to the applicants who are still waiting!

Were you waitlisted? I have a feeling Nova will start taking people off the waitlist early.

Is it possible you are just not what they are looking for, whether it's applying late or early? An honest rhetorical question, just for perspective.

Haha, yeah obviously. I feel for everyone who is WL'ed with me. I guess I felt so certain that since I was WL'ed last year for being late, I was 110% positive that there wouldn't be a reason for them not to accept me this year.
With that said, I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason. Maybe Nova isn't meant for me. That doesn't ease my anxiety, though, until I figure out what school IS meant for me, lol.
