Official 2015-2016: Oh no, I don't have a single Interview Invite thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I will be applying to DO by the end of the week if I don't get an II :/

Isn't it too late for DO this time of the year? Or am I wrong? And don't you have to shadow a DO/get a letter for them?

Haha Ya... I'm at 6 weeks (max) and less for some. I still have some time and hope. Thankfully life is distracting me with other nonsense...!

A lot of people are saying stuff like they are getting emails in the middle of the night! I used to stop checking after 4:30 in the evening but now I can't help but check . . .

No replies yet.

Perhaps this is a sign that I should be applying to a few more schools.

I saw this recent post by the Johns Hopkins admission team on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/JohnsHopkinsSchoolOfMedicineAdmissions):

"One of the posts I answered yesterday was from someone who said she heard a rumor that half the interview slots have already been filled for this cycle. Nothing could be further from the truth: we still have a majority of applications to review and a majority of interview slots are still available. The deadline is on October 15 (with a December 1 deadline for the secondary application): we would would be crazy to grant half the interview slots when we haven't reviewed half the applications. I suspect someone was trying to "psych" the individual who wrote (and apparently it worked)....

So the take away here is submit when you are complete and ready and know that we have plenty of interview slots (especially this early in the process)."

I'm sure the same applies to a lot of other medical schools as well. It's discouraging to see other people getting a bunch of interview invites when your own apps cycle seems to be going slowly, but this helped me feel positive and I hope at least one of you guys feels better reading it too.

Here's to another day of anxiously checking emails. No IIs, no rejections.
I think the advice from people to stay busy with hobbies and friends is great. Personally, I have chosen to take up drinking heavily after work to deal with the stress. It's working pretty well for me so far, most nights I barely remember stressing out about my email...

Good to see some healthy coping mechanisms on SDN!

My email went down for about 8 hours the other night and got an email after stating that all mail sent during that time would not be able to be recovered...
Even though it's been weeks of silence I'm certain that all my schools sent II's during that time and I'll never know...
Alcohol is my friend too.

haha.

I'm just really sad.

So looking forward to being here without any IIs ever

6 Rejections from DO schools
0 interviews
Remaining schools completely silent

Best of times, worst of times

This morning I wake up, check my phone, see two emails from Ohio State. The first one says "status change' and tells me to login. I'm thinking this could be my first interview. I frantically figure out their password scheme while half awake, heartbeat rising. I login, see that my application is complete, thinking "wtf what's new then". I go back and check the second email: "This morning an email was sent in error to all applicants in our system. We do apologize for the inconvenience." D'oh!! >.<

I feel your pain. I keep on checking my email and OH MAN, I SEE A MED SCHOOL, IS IT FINALLY HERE?!

Nope, it's an open house or some event .:punch:

Why no love from DO schools?

Low states and out-of-state?

cGPA 3.25 and sGPA 2.9 before academic update. cGPA 3.31 and sGPA 3.04 after academic update and course reclassification.

I do have a 30 MCAT, doesn't help me out though.

Lol. I got a rejection from mayo at 1am on a Friday night/Saturday morning... When I was out at a bar. But I have heard from 9 other schools, all at reasonable hours. 9am-6pm.
