But as I know no one from these programs, I simply cannot decided which one to go. Are there any alumni out here or anyone with information who could share on this?

Going by Tinder hypotheses, you would never apply to same school in multiple cycles, after getting rejected once. The difference here is tinder works on ‘person’ while residency applications work on ‘profile’.
Profile and experience can definitely be worked upon for better chances in upcoming cycles, where as once swiped left on dm you are generally done

A friend of mine got an invite for one program after the initial bulk interviews. I got an invite to a program after the bulk invite. When I talked with an orthodontist at my dental school who was involved with admissions at one point they said that for that particular program some years they would send out more invites than interview slots due to people canceling. It is definitely possible.

Hi! I spoke to someone yesterday and was told that the ortho clinic has stopped accepting new patients and they dropped from 4 residents to 2 in the past two cycles so she said they weren’t sure what was happening with the program but made it sound like it wasn’t looking good

I had the same question and was told by 2 different programs that it wasn’t a big deal to miss their social. They understand conflicts and travel, etc. But personally, I’m declining one of my interview offers because I would miss the social of a school I really want to go to and I don’t want to miss any chance of making a good impression. At the same time though, you have to weigh out what’s more important to you; the more interviews you have increases your chance of Matching. I would at least call the programs in question and ask if it matters. Hope that helps!

I believe at 12 pm that day a list of all phase I programs with unmatched positions will be released. Last year the only ortho open positions I believe were GSO and Pitt. At that point usually you will contact the program on post-match instructions.

I had the same dilemma when I applied last year as I made my LOR and essay Ortho specific and wasn't able to apply to any other program....this cycle I requested my professors to write the LOR as general for all graduate programs....I don't think you have to make a separate application for GPR programs.....if you could write you essay GPR specific as this time you can send individually tailored essay for each program, then maybe you can apply.....

Yes. You can use the same application; PASS has an option that you can choose which essay you want to upload to complete the application. However, the LOR cannot be selected.

As someone who went through this last year... this is correct. It’s not as intimidating as it sounds. Heaven forbid you don’t match, the email telling you so tells you what website to go to for post match (I don’t think there was an email telling you it officially opened you are just expected to check back to post match at 12:00 when it opens.) it does in fact exist for ortho, just slim pickings... as stated above, last year was 4 spots at Pitt and 8 at Georgia, that was it
