**Official 2022 Peds PASS/Interviews/Match/Non-Match**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you dont match with the program you applied to but the program has post match positions,,,,can you reach out to them for another chance?

How do you guys feel after interviews? I do not get any inclinations or emotions from interviewers
I feel like it has been varied. Some everyone was so nice, I couldn't tell if they were vibing with me or just super duper friendly. Others were stoic throughout. Both tough to get a read on fs. Interestingly enough, after writing thank-yous, I got some more personal responses (obvi generic ones as well). I think they just want to be as fair as possible.

I would say that's the case for me with 90% of the interviewers... I have no idea how they feel about me and I sit there wondering, "how can this program possibly rank everyone when they just get to know everyone for 10 minutes on a very surface level?".

I did get some "We hope you choose to come here, you're a strong applicant and we would love to see you in next years class" kind of thing which gave me a little more of an inclination about how they are feeling about me. That was only two individual interviewers though and one of the people that said that to me was not the director and probably had no strong pull in decision making, hahaha.

I think it is honestly just a time for them to pick the people that they DON'T like (don't rank them) and then rank their favorites at the very top and kind of just fill out the rest of their rankings to the best of their ability.

The directors report on the Match website says that a majority of programs use a scoring system and then averaging everyone's scores in order to make their rank list... So, I guess our goal is to try to get the highest score with each interviewer each time.

Does anyone know how to go about ranking? Like if l Really love a program but couldn’t really read the interviewers and they interviewed a lot of people (based off the in person experience). How should I rank them?Would I be wasting my time ranking them high if they aren’t going to rank me that high? How do you really know?

You should ALWAYS rank to your preference only.

Ranking them high if they don't rank you high does not change the eventual outcome of the match for you.

That link will help explain that better. But, the short answer for this is always: rank programs from favorite to least favorite. Never consider whether the program will rank you highly or not because it does not change anything.

Any idea how many people a program ranks?

Yea i have the same question. How many people do they actually rank if its so few spots?

Hello again!

On page 12 of this PDF you can see what the average is for programs. For peds, it looks like 2 per position is the minimum, 4 is the average, and 8 is the max (with one outlier program ranking 14 per position).

I'm sure they decide how many to rank based on the desirability of their program. A program that costs money, isn't a really big name, is in a poor location, and works the resident to the bone has to rank more per position compared to a well-liked, paid program where the current residents are all really enjoying themselves.

Hope this helps!

Which programs do have non-match positions? Also, which ones are Canadian friendly?

Any Canadian who got multiple interviews by any chances?

Anyone hear from Boston Children's/Harvard?

No...

Half expecting another email saying "sorry again, we need to a little more time to read apps. We will get back to you by the end of the week." 🤣

But, I get the feeling that invites went out already.

Did anyone receive a rejection or waitlist email from Boston’s Children/Harvard?

Hi, do you think that email about being 'waitlisted' from Boston's Children/Harvard is more like a soft rejection?

My thoughts exactly! 🧐
The invite email says that people have until 11/11 at 1pm EST to accept their interview. I assume they are waiting until then and will fill any unaccepted spots with the waitlist.

I'd for sure email Cassandra and Dr. Chase. What's the worst that can happen?

She said you would hear by the 9th and we know that some got waitlist and others got rejections...

Also, check in spam. I found a Temple email in there hahah...

I got an email from San Antonio about vaccinations but I don’t have an interview offer from them. Did everyone else get that too?

Does anyone know if University of Mississippi will have a virtual social tomorrow night, since virtual interviews are Friday? Also, did anyone receive the zoom link for their interviews this Friday yet? I want to make sure I'm not missing anything!

I have not heard anything about a social nor do I have a Zoom link. I’m hoping that tomorrow we will get an email with the Zoom link. I assumed that they would not be doing a social since there was no mention of it in the interview invitation but like I said, that is just an assumption. Good luck on Friday!!

Okay great! I was worried because usually all that information is sent out at least a week in advance or more from other programs! Good luck to you too!

Did anyone on the waitlist for Children's Hospital Boston/Harvard hear anything since the last email?

Did everyone send thank you emails after interviewing? Is it horrible that I haven’t? Didn’t realize it was a thing

I have for some, and others I did not. I haven’t received a single reply so it’s very discouraging when you spend time writing these emails and nothing. I hope it doesn’t affect me in the long run but I am going to show interest on my top 5 only

I finally have one interview. Can someone share how they prepared for the interviews and what worked for them? How many mock interviews ? Any resources? This is the only shot I have.

Regarding Staten Island, I received an email on 11/3 saying my application was under review. But that's it.

Are you sending emails to all faculty you interviewed at the top 5 programs or just those you thought you connected with well?
