Any updates on BronxCare health system?
Location ProgramCan someone post the post -match GPR spots?
I have one friend from dental school that did the 3 year NHSC scholarship, went to residency out right after school and is currently serving his commitment at a community health center in Mississippi or Kansas--not sure though whereAnyone knows people in the HRSA NHSC for pediatric residency?
I received an email saying the spots are filled.Anyone heard back from Bronx Health Care for postmatch interviews?
Thank you for sharing.I received an email saying the spots are filled.
How does that work? Your friend got the scholarship and put it on hold during residency?I have one friend from dental school that did the 3 year NHSC scholarship, went to residency out right after school and is currently serving his commitment at a community health center in Mississippi or Kansas--not sure though where
Hi! I’m an NHSC scholarship program participant, currently in service as a pediatric dentist. What are your questions?Anyone knows people in the HRSA NHSC for pediatric residency?
NHSC allows participants to postpone service obligations for the length of a residency (there are some residencies that are not allowed - OMS, Endo, Perio, etc.). After residency they will start their three years of service. How does that work? Your friend got the scholarship and put it on hold during residency?
That is correct. The NHSC programs want to drive providers into primary care. Scholars can do approved residencies, which for dentists are AEGD/GPR, Peds, and public health.NHSC allows participants to postpone service obligations for the length of a residency (there are some residencies that are not allowed - OMS, Endo, Perio, etc.). After residency they will start their three years of service.
That's my understanding of it at least.
I saw someone was accepted today. Probably filled the spots I’m guessinganyone who interviewed with NYU Langone Brooklyn for post-match hear back yet?
I see, thanks for the update!I saw someone was accepted today. Probably filled the spots I’m guessing

First time I got matched to Pedo focused GPR which helped me a lot to learn and grow.
Second time I had 2 interviews but didn’t match. It was very disappointing.
BUT I PERSISTED. I started working for a community clinic which gave plenty of opportunities to treat children, volunteer outreach community events, lead tooth mobile van and teach dental students as preceptor dentist. In addition, I was staying connected with program directors and current residents. It helped big time.
Yes, the third time I applied early, had super strong PEFs, one-page crispy statement. It clicked.
Programs Interviewed: UMN, UNMC, OHSU, Temple, Rutgers, Texas A&M, Mount Sinai, and St. Barnabas Hospital. In addition, I also received Jamaica Hospital (Meet and Greet session) and Boston Children’s (waitlisted).
All the interviewers asked about my preceptor dentist and tooth mobile experience.
There are a lot of amazing people I have met in this journey. In which Ashly (I am sure most of the applicants know her) was the one who was always there for me. Thank you very much for everything Ashly. Thank you to my mentors. No words to express my gratitude.
Thank you “T00thDr” for keeping this group super active and up to date on interview calls.
All the best for future applicants.
Anyone??Has there been any word on the remaining NYU Langone Post Match positions?
You guys should for sure start a new thread. Usually the new threads are started when the applications open up in May.For those who will be applying this summer, will this thread be moving on to the next cycle or will there be another one?
Thank you ♥️You guys should for sure start a new thread. Usually the new threads are started when the applications open up in May.
Good luck this summer!
Hello, I'm applying for this upcoming cycle. Where do I find the information on the number of letters of recommendation? And how many do I need? Dean's Letter vs. Standalone letter?
Agree with @ptm2016 That is a great place to start.Hello, I'm applying for this upcoming cycle. Where do I find the information on the number of letters of recommendation? And how many do I need? Dean's Letter vs. Standalone letter?
Thank you so much!Agree with @ptm2016 That is a great place to start.
In general, you'll need your deans letter with 4-5 other letters (one should be from the peds director and 1-2 more should be from peds faculty)
If you do that you'll cover like 98% of program's needs.
But, again, the PASS search engine will give you a good idea about programs that have more strict rules. I emailed a couple with questions about my LORs and they got back to be and told me I'm good to go and can apply. Don't be scared to reach out to programs!
Thank you!ADEA PASS® Program Finder

Start there and looking at each program’s website
A lot of questions will come off your CV. Be prepared to talk about everything on there.Does anyone have a list of questions for interview?
Not true. They will still look and consider applications up until the deadline. I remember my program director laying out all the applications in his office and narrowing down his choices. No mention of some pseudo-deadline aside from the official one.Hello everyone 👋
Is it true that programs only consider applications which are sent on the first two weeks or first month ?
Because my inbde exam is at the end of June and I’m not sure if I should apply to programs without it just to be considered and then send my results later? Or just apply once when I receive my scores.
I did, it helped show my interest in exploring the specialty. I interviewed at programs that I did not extern at and it was never brought why I didn't visit them versus other programs. Is it a good idea to mention about your externships or shadowing experience to different residency programs in your resume?
Thank you. I have done 2 externships and 7 shadowing days at different residency programs, would you recommend to put all of them in my resume? Does it affect to get interview from the programs where you have not performed shadowing days or externships?I did, it helped show my interest in exploring the specialty. Hi, I think we can use transcript and NBDE score from previous evaluations on pass..Hello, for those who are re applying, can we use previous evaluations on pass? (Also, haven’t found a new thread yet for this cycle so if you have let me know please)
Sure I think it would help to put it on your resume. I don't think it will affect if you get an interview from programs where you did not visit. I received invites from schools that I did not visit and listed my externships on my resume.Thank you. Hello, there doesn’t seem to be a 2023 peds thread yet so I don’t know where else to ask this- Aside from my undergraduate dental school transcripts which I will upload on Pass, do schools require transcripts from a non-dental related MSc that I’m currently enrolled at?
Thank you! I was thinking the same, because I also have straight As but I was worried it would only confuse programs if they don’t expect anything other than undergrad in pass. Would it help if I mentioned it in my personal statement?Hey there!
No, they do not require anything outside of undergrad and dental school. That being said, I completed a non-dental MSc and I chose to upload the transcripts because the grades would only have helped by app... Totally up to you.
