I feel your pain. When I was waiting for my MCAT scores, I went to the city's main mail distribution center and tried to sweet talk my way into getting my mail. What worked for me as an undergrad, however, was making friends with the mail sorting people. Try bringing a box of chocolates over, or offering to spend a few hours there helping them sort the mail. It might just work.

G'luck to ya. We all know you're going to get good news in one of those envelopes...

My med-school mail gets sent to my permanent address in Chicago, and my parents just called to tell me that I got in!

Oh man, I was so not expecting this...
I was one of those people with a 15 minute interview...
 
at least you americans GET mail on saturdays... we don't have saturday delivery here... I gotta wait till at least Wednesday, or Tuesday night, when I come back from Chicago.
 
To all my east coasters who also got an empty mailbox today -- are we counting ourselves waitlisted? Or did they send out the acceptances on both thursday and friday?

CONGRATS SCOOBY! The decision should be easy if we're talking about NY schools. Columbia is it, baby, no question abotu it!

I have not gotten any mail yet from P&S. I am assuming this means waitlist. If Scooby got it al the way in Berkeley, we can guess what that means for the rest of us. Bottom line: In my opinion, if you don't have an aceptance yet, your chances of waitlist are very very high.

Oh yea, Wierd thing is that it is postmarked February 15th! It took it just overnight to get to me! That's very wild to me! So don't give up hope. They must have had a super straight plane going from New York to Oakland Airport 🙂

Nothing in upstate new york...although it use to take 4+ days for priority mail to get to an address in NYC...but I think it is time to accept the waitlist...

i hate my school's post office. they've decided that since we're students, we're not as important as real people, and thus, we can wait an extra week or two for our mail so they can leisurely sort it out when they feel up to it. damnit, my columbia decision is sitting there and i cant get it.
 
I think we go to the same school. Alternatively, it could just be that student mailroom workers are inherently evil (=inept). I nearly missed deadlines for responding to interview offers last semester because of delays in my school! I'm assuming, actually, that mine is a waitlist and didn't come at all, but I guess there's a shred of hope that it was an acceptance that got lost in the student mail service . . .thanks!
 
What makes this countdown thread "Official"? 😛 Did anyone get a medium or low waitlist....that is what I am expecting......
 
Choker made it the offical thread 😀 Otherwise still waiting for the waitlist (kinda ironic huh? 🙄 )....someone mentioned it is not ranked!@#$%$# But how the hell can they put 800 people on an unranked waitlist?
 
Runor has it the waitlist is divided into thirds -- that should give everyone a better idea of what their chances are for getting in. If you are not in the top third, I would be that your chances of getting in are rather slim
 
i received a very kindly worded waitlist today. ****. it's got all that "very highly ranked" and "list of alternates" jargon.

-if anyone as anything different, please post. i hear that a friend of a friend of mine got a very pessimistic columbia letter that said they thought her "completely qualified to complete the P&S work..." but it seemed like a lower tier waitlist.

-whatever.
-it's funny. i've noticed that only 1 columbia undergrad that i know got in this year. everyone else was waitlisted.
 
ok, my mail doesn't come until later, but I'm assuming it's a waitlist (hope it makes it across the country by today at least to give me some resolution), but can all the waitlisted people quote some reasonable part of the letter so we can see if they're all the same? That's kind of a mean thing to make people do. Sorry. But I'm anticipating being in the same boat, so I'll do it when I get mine too.
 
screw the bs, I didnt recieve a letter today, sos that means I'm on the waitlist, but I figure I'll call and ask if theres any way to know where on the waitlist.

I just got my Priority Mail acceptance today!

they are still coming in....probably at different speeds to differnt parts of the country. dont give up hope yet!

Congrats to all the acceptees! Have any Long-islanders gotten the news yet? I can't believe it - no mail from them today. Now I have to wait until Thursday since I'll be out of town for the next couple of days <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
 
Not sure, thats what I would think too, but thats what the lady on the phone said. I guess you can call and ask her.

Logan I called a while ago and they stated that the letters were mailed out on Thursday. Priority mail takes 2-3 days so I guess that's why most of us are still waiting.
 
i just found a scrunched-up columbia acceptance in my mailbox 🙂

no, it was in the priority mail thingy -- just folded like 8 times so it could fit in my p.o. box 😛
 
I am going to die waiting. Oh my gosh. I think I'll go wait by the mailboxes in my dorm. They have the mail down there and are being slow about sorting it. Oh my gosh.

My letter says "your application falls in the category of being very highly ranked..."

Have people received letters that say "highly ranked" versus "very highly ranked"?
 
mine says very highly ranked too. i think everyone got that one.
 
Now I'm scared to go home and check my mailbox.
