Official Doctor Who WW Redux Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Wait a minute, sorry completely fail on my part, just went back to reread her pms with me from yesterday. She told me she was a human character, but that her role was pretty boring and she hadn't done anything yet, and that she hadn't gotten any items (this was at 11am yesterday - so 6am est?), which was after LIS would have seen her polishing a pistol. So it's definitely character linked, guessing she's either a wolf or a villager assassin..

Thanks for those who waited for my defense! I just woke up! Gimme a few minutes!

Okay guys here we go. First I find it really really odd how this all just played out. I would never kill LIS after he asked me to move there that would stupid. Anyways my character is Wilfred Mott. For those of you who do not know he is Donna Nobles grandfather. Wilfred believed Donna when no one did about the doctor and always encouraged her. He also ended up being a one time companion with 10 and he was the last companion with him before became 11. For the purposes of this ww I am a skilled veteran soldier. That is what I was told. I really do not know why anyone would see me cleaning a pistol other than just, because I am a former soldier. Like cyndia said I have received 0 items and I have no abilities so in the words of jdh I'm just along for the ride. People were also questioning why I have not been more active. When the game first started I had a massive amount of tests and then I went home for the weekend. After that I have not really been able to contribute much because as I said with no items or abilities I just have to trust what others are saying in the thread. So ask any questions you want I will answer! Lynching me would be a mistake.

Everyone seems to have abilities...

Like cyndia said I have received 0 items and I have no abilities so in the words of jdh I'm just along for the ride.

According to Cyndia's PMs with you, you told her your role was pretty boring and you hadn't done anything yet. Yet you just said you have no abilities. Which is it?

Everyone seems to have abilities...
That's one thing about Wilfred though he didn't have abilities he became a camp onion because the doctor appreciated his unwavering faith that everything would work out and aliens and people could get along

I'm not pushing anything. I am reluctantly joining the bandwagon.

Here, I will unjoin for you samoa.

unlynch alors

How many people knew LIS saw me polishing a gun? I didn't obviously...but maybe some one used that to their advantage

I think when she said that she hadn't done anything yet, it meant in regards to items and pming (she said I was the first person to get in touch with her).

Sounds like a frame job. Wilfred Mott does own a pistol, and is most definitely a good guy. lynch allieh . Or FFM. they both seemed to be pushing this.
How am I pushing this? I just put some information onto the thread and people chose to run with it, never intended on a bandwagon happening and I said that I was willing to hear a defense.

It seems like a legit defense, but I do trust allie if she was recently seered (I'm guessing conversions are every 3 nights maybe, if we had 2 by n7?), and LIS would have had no reason to lie about seeing you polish a pistol, I believe he would have told allie after discovering she was cleared.

unlynch alors since Samoa says your character does in fact have a pistol but I'm not sold on your defense...think it's mighty convenient that you have no abilities

A conversion every three nights seems extreme.

Oh gotcha, I remembered last game it was 4, I just assumed it must have been 3 if there were 2 by night 7? Or am I getting the night that was listed wrong? My memory is so crap right now.

Does everyone have to have abilities?

Some games are like that... When I was a wolf in DC comics, I got caught out because I said I didn't have any abilities (I did though), and it turned out everybody had an ability.

I have an ability (it's nothing very active but its something at least). I'm not aware of anybody that doesn't have one yet, but I haven't exactly talked to many people, most of my info has been from watching what's going on the thread.

Last game was four and even I found that a bit much. I started playing games that were 3 wolves per 25 people with maybe a conversion every 5 nights. The number of wolves in prevet games is huger than what I am used to. But one every three seems too much. Unless we started with five and cuit isn't the last original left.

And I think it's gotten worse (the wolf:villager ratio) as we've played games.

I think we have too many wolf wins because of this. It ought to be a bit more of an accomplishment to win as wolves.

Just my opinion, though.

And I've said it before, but too much futzing/adjusting mid-game by mods (in my opinion, with absolutely zero judgment or disrespect intended to other mods) diminishes the entertainment value. Look at it this way; if I (the player) know that no matter how well either side plays, the mods are going to re-balance mid-game to try and arrive at that 2 villagers against 1 wolf final vote .... then I have no reason to invest in playing well because there are no real 'consequences' to my game play.

So to my way of thinking, the more a mod adjusts play mid-game, the less reason they give players to use their brain and think about their game play.

These comments are meant generally and not in regard to this or any specific game. I think Escalla and Jojo are running an excellent game.

Last.... I CAN HAZ REZ NOW?

I am not buying it. I joined late and although my ability isn't active, I still got a description of an ability. That sounds like a wolf error.

I would check out Samoa next. I was suspicious of her action in the Jdh lynch....sounded a little contrived. She is the wiliest of wolves.

Lupin was investigated last night. The role title was consistent with the one she gave me when she first PMed me after I role-revealed as the 10th Doctor. However, only role title was given and the rest was unseerable as of last night. I see no reason for her character to be unseerable. The fact that only role title was given and not information on her ability (as has been the case with previous investigation targets) makes me more suspicious.

She has also dropped out of PMs with me and appears to no longer be using her (very useful) ability. If she has continued to use it and just not wanted to share with me for fear of me being a convert, I'd get it. But it seems no one else is getting that information either.

So I'm going to lynch Lupin.

I should add that that I personally don't find alors' defense to be 100% convincing, but I think Lupin is more suspicious right now and giving alors an extra night to be investigated would probably be the wiser choice, in my not-attempting-to-run-the-game-on-a-power-trip opinion 🙂

Also Alors spent a lot of time describing her character...not so much explaining her role.
And a character with no role should give nothing back to LIS if he watched her.

I agree with most of this...

Pre-vet games seem that everyone wants to be able to do something or be active, which can be more fun for all, but also makes it harder for wolves if everyone can do something, and so i think the instinct is to add more wolves or make the wolves more difficult. Old school games where most people were vanilla and you had only a few roles, and when you lost a role you were SOL, you can get away with 3 wolves for 25 people. These more complex games require more complex ratios and such.

and i promise there has been no major tinkering. If we didn't think of something ahead of time, we've had to make a judgement, but otherwise, it's been what it is....

Good mods design the rules that make it more likely there will be 2 villagers against 1 wolf at the end 😉

Also Alors spent a lot of time describing her character...not so much explaining her role.
And a character with no role should give nothing back to LIS if he watched her.

We don't know what "watching" means entirely, though. If there is a strong character association with something, perhaps that appears in the description. Similarly, having a good character in the show with a pistol seems like a great way for a mod set-up. Just like imagine it would have gone down if Dom's role as Hitler had been available. Knee-jerk is bad, but not always.

The only other thing that I told cyndia a little bit ago in PM was that my role said I was resourceful and that could come in handy but I don't constitute that as a role ability because I have no clue what that means so...

Official Lynch Tally

FFM 1 - cuit
allie 1 - Samoa
Lupin 4 - TRH, WTF, dyachei, swings

I buy alors' story now so I'm going to lynch someone who jumped on the bandwagon
****lynch FS****
Willing to waffle depending on what lupin has to say about her role being unseerable though...

^ I guess I should clarify I don't know exactly what watching means. Maybe LIS shared with someone exactly what his ability could do (if the mods made it clear to him).

He was a tracker/hobo (seems more like a hobo). He took over Devyn's abilities after she died.

It looks like if people were not performing their night action, he was told they were at home doing something. When he followed dyachei, she was reading books on the 1870s, so I am not sure what the correlation is.

Does anyone else have "no abilities"?

I have no abilities and I'm not afraid to say it. Just one thing I have to do in all my posts, it's rather a pain...

So I'm going to lynch Lupin.

I'll stick up for Lupin. She told me previously that her ability was expended, hence why she is no longer using it.

That's interesting. I found out that we indeed gave Cyberman, or Cybermen, in the game. According to the lore they are almost totally cyborg except for retaining human brains. Perhaps if Lupin was a Cyberman this would explain the results?

Did LIS have an ability before this?

He started the game with no ability but could take over the role of any companion to the doctor that died, but would have to give up any previous abilities. I think the tracking ability was the first one that he took over.

Lupin's role title suggests she's human, and doesn't seem to be a minor character. I believe she likely started as a villager.

@Frozenshades, this seems reasonable considering her role. It doesn't explain why that information wouldn't be included in the results of an investigation.

That's sort of what I meant. Someone who was converted to a Cyberman would retain their original human brain (ie role name) but their ability would obviously change or be hidden.

However, this also assumes that converts become Cybermen etc.
