Did you call (919) 684-2985? Is there another number I can call to ask when they will post, b/c no one answered the first. :)

Yeah, that's the number I called. They answered on the first ring; maybe they are suddenly swamped with calls from people like us!
 
Hmmm she told me that only if your letter is being mailed or has already been mailed, then your status will be updated today. And then she said "a couple" decisions still have not been made, and that they will not be made until NEXT week. So we still have to wait I guess.

What the heck are they doing, running a background check :confused:

Thanks, Zulq. Did she commit to any specific time today that they would be updated? (so I can stop killing the dukemed site)
 
Man you should have asked her whether *your* decision had been made. Then you won't need to check the site in anticipation, cuz if they haven't decided they can't post it :)

She looked up my file and said that they still hadn't finalized. I felt like withdrawing right there... j/k :D
 
Hey Zulq. Since we both interviewed on the very last day, maybe they haven't made my decision yet either. That would explain why we've heard nothing. At least, that's an explanation that doesn't involve a rejection or a waitlest.

And, sar520, I'll call them after my next class. It's probably lunch time over there... :p
 
No decision has been made yet on my application. Supposedly, the letter is going out next week.

Aargh! Another week of waiting!

Okay, I just did. No decision either. They are mailing ~middle of next week, then posting on the web 5 days later. So I think I'm just going to try to banish this from my mind for a while (ha).

They better not be stringing us along for a rejection! :)

Sorrento - when did you interview? I can't quite remember... If you interviewed in October or something, then they might just be stringing us all along here... As in not mailing out rejections or something until next week. Hopefully you interviewed in February, for our sake... :D

So, if the letters go out the middle of next week, it should be on the website about a week later. Probably around the beginning of April. I suppose a month turnaround isn't bad, but it would've been nice for them to tell us in the first place!!
 
Never mind. Just saw that you interviewed December 7th, Sorrento.

So, what do you suppose this means?? Did you do a regional interview? Maybe your interviewer was late getting his response back to Duke...

I'm just trying to come up with something that ties our applications all together... Zulq and I interviewed on the last day, so it's possible they haven't even gone over our files yet. But it's strange they wouldn't have gone over yours...

I interviewed on Halloween and I still have not heard yet either. I really do not know what is going on with Duke. How long could it possibly take to send a rejection letter?
 
Penn02, has your online status page been updated yet? Actually, has ANYONE's changed (aside from those already accepted whose status changed a few days ago)? I got waitlisted a few days ago, but my page hadn't changed last time I checked.

Just got the big 'R' today on the website. Looks like it's either MCW or NUMS for me.
 
I'm so sorry brandonite :( Duke at least could have told you earlier and spared you all this waiting, like when you called today, and that is not very good manners on their side.

hey, I interview there last year and just found out about my rejection too. in fact, I went to duke undergrad. talk about being cold and having bad luck.

:(

well, too bad...hehe, but that is life :)
 
At this stage I *wish* they had rejected me too, but I just checked and no such luck. :rolleyes: Still on Step 5 "Duke will review your file"
 
At least you are on step 5. I'm still on step 4 and waiting eagerly for a letter.

Dr. Corday - let's hope that my pestering of the admissions officials at Stanford pays off. They're my last shot right now. :( I came into this with Stanford as my top choice, and while I really loved Duke when I was there, I wouldn't be disappointed to end up there. If I could only get an interview. :wink:

I interviewed on Haloween and got the "fake" acceptance last week. Still no letter though. I called yesterday and they said that they still have not mailed a letter to me and that there still has not been a decision made on my file. Why can't they just tell us that we're rejected? Supposedly, we're going to get letters this upcoming week.
 
I wouldn't count your online rejection as a "real rejection." Online, it says that I am rejected, but I just got my waitlist notification in the mail. A waitlist isn't much better, but...

Seems that Duke admissions procedures really went to hell after the first 2 batches of acceptances - all we get now is randomness, delayed mailings, incorrect website updates, etc. Oh well. Good luck to those waiting when hopefully everything is finalized in a week or so. :)
 
Hmm. Ya, I'm not sure what's going on there at Durham. They told me on the phone yesterday that a decision hadn't been made on my file yet, and that they'd be sending out another batch of letters next week. Then suddenly the website says I'm rejected?

Maybe I'm just choosing not to believe the bad news, but I think I'll wait until I get the rejection letter in my hands to know for sure...
 
I was very impressed by the genuine niceness of Duke's waitlist letter. It's pretty long and gives you the feeling that they really want you to accept the offer, and that they wished they had more spots so they could accept you, etc. The waitlist letters I've received from other schools have been generally very apologetic, but don't make me feel like they really wanted me at their school.
 
Their rejection was nice, too. Nicest one I've seen so far.

FYI:

My online status is now updated to reflect waitlist status.

I can't say as far as those who were told one thing and then saw another on the website. They have been wrong so many times before!!!I say wait for official notification before throwing in the towel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure hope you guys are right about Duke making mistakes. I just checked my status online and it says I've been rejected. :(

I just interviewed last week so that was a pretty fast decision. Anyway, I won't lose hope until I get that rejection letter in my hands.
 
curious to know if anyone that did receive a "fake acceptance" actually end up receiving a reject/waitlist?

Did anyone that did NOT get a "fake acceptance" actually end up receiving an acceptance?

Basically did anyone that check their status that infamous night on the 13th end up receiving something opposite than what their status page said.

Anyone still waiting?
 
I don't think so. I think TommyGunn got a waitlist after his 'fake-rejection'.

I got a real rejection after my fake rejection.

Sorry if this is bad news...

Sorry if this is bad news...•••••no it is not bad news, i got a fake acceptance and my status page has not been updated nor have I received any mailing confirming it so I am getting nervous.. i think there are others that are in my situation as well

Does the news go to the permanent address or the school address? I am on spring break right now.
 
Just got back from a nice long weekend at the seaside where I didn't think about Duke at all.

Probably a good thing, since I just checked the website and it's saying rejected. I'd love to hold out hope but I don't think they'd make the same mistake twice. For the record, I was fake accepted and then told 'no decision yet' on Friday. oh well.

Sorry to others who have just gotten the rotten news, too. Poo! May the rest of you have better luck.
 
my online status changed from step 4 to rejected today. oh well, i was already 95% sure of Umich. Now I dont have any thinking to do at all :D

After the fake acceptance, I just learned today that I was rejected. Duke really disappointed me with their unprofessional way of handling this process. Good luck to everyone!
 
A bit of a bump...

And, I got the letter in the mail yesterday. I am now officially a rejectee of the Duke University School of Medicine. For convenience, I'm going to blame it on the free radical guy. :)

No worries brandonite -- you're in good company (at least I'd like to think of myself as good company).

Besides, there's still Harvard. We should be getting those letters any day now.

hey, this is weird. I still haven't received an actual rejection letter from Duke. I thought I would have received something by now ... especially if brandonite, way the heck up in CANADA, has! :wink:
 
I too am yet to recieve a letter.
 
sorrento and edogg, have you called the admissions office recently? According to AAMC regulations, I thought they were REQUIRED to have a decision to you by March 31st (or at least close to this date). Did you interview really late or something? Maybe they somehow neglected to send out your letters.
 
I haven't receied a letter yet either.
 
Hmm. Been ignoring this thread lately, for obvious reasons.

At any rate, I got my letter a week ago today. So, that means that it was probably sent out almost two weeks ago. And I interviewed on the VERY LAST day - March 1st.

So, I dunno what to tell you...
