Actually, the AAMC says that med schools must offer enough acceptances to fill their incoming class by March 29. They are not required to tell everyone else anything (sucks, doesn't it! 😛 ). They can, of course, still give out acceptances after March 29. Hope that clears up any confusion...

I'm still waiting for a letter, but its only a formality. My webpage status says I'm rejected and I trust it. I called the admissions office last week, and she told me that they were not allowed to tell me anything over the phone, and that I should check the webpage. Its okay though, I am completely set on Ann Arbor, there's too much here for me to leave.

I was told by the financial aid lady at 2d look that they had already mailed out all of the awards...but there was the slim hope that some people might turn down their awards, making room for more offers.

Do you mean just all the merit awards, or all the financial aid packages (including need based)? I'm certain I won't be getting a merit scholarship, but I'd like to know about the other aid.

Yeah, last week Duke notified me about financial aid (on top of the merit scholarship). So they are in the process of letting people know. How long ago did you submit your FAFSA and NeedAccess, and when did you mail your 1040 to the FinAid Office?

I submitted the Need Access back in February, and the FAFSA and 1040 forms about a month ago or so (right around when I was accepted). No word from them yet (obviously).

Just FYI, I e-mailed the office last night, and they told me I should have a package put together by Friday. Crossing my fingers for a substantial Duke Grant...

Yikes,

I'm reading over last year's Duke postings. It's crazy that they're able to make decisions on 1000+ applicants over a span of two weeks. Just a thought of how much those long essays really played a role in our application other than for interview purposes.

But then again, maybe they gave points to those essays .. who knows (if you can't tell, I'm bored 😉 )
