Crafty: Do you remember when you told them you would definitely attend? Did you write immediately after finding out you were on the wait list?

I think I wrote on my reply postcard that Duke was my #1 choice (but I don't think I specifically said I would attend if accepted). Come to think of it, I don't think I said those exact words until mid-June. Maybe it was a coincidence that I was accepted soon after that -- I'll never know. But I wouldn't suggest saying that until you are absolutely sure that you would attend if accepted.

hey brandonite, why are you so pessimistic? cheer up, you never know. plus, based on your stats and background, I think you'll get into a great school, be it duke or some other school. man, if you can't get in duke, i dunno what to think about my chances...i'm still waiting too. well, good luck everyone and congrats to all the acceptees!

I would feel a lot more confident if ANYBODY that got 'fake-rejected' last week got accepted this week. So far, it's almost looking like the results last week were the real ones. :( Which isn't good news for me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
 
has ANYONE's online status changed to reflect whatever the letter they received said?

Anyone hear anything today?
 
My status still says "Under Consideration."
 
doh! got the letter today at my school address...got waitlisted. oh well, hope they take off alot of people off this year. my online status didn't change last week if anyone was wondering. well good luck to everyone no status change doesn't necessarily mean rejection (unless you think a waitlist is equivalent to a rejection)!

Congrats shoudygrille! And this is good news for us too Brandonite! It means that although our status didn't change online last week we still at least have a chance at being waitlisted (but hopefully accepted!)! Don't lose hope!
 
Hmmm I just called Duke and the lady looked up my application and said that no decision has been made yet, and no letter was mailed out to me on the 15th. She said something will go out this Friday for me and the last few people.

Well considering that I had a "fake" acceptance last week, what are my chances for admission? Has anyone who interviewed on March 1 got an acceptance letter yet? I think a previous poster, EC, had this situation where the site said they got in on the 13th, and they called to confirm on the 14th and got a "no decision made yet" response, but still ended up getting accepted in the Friday 15th batch. I now think the reason Duke had to retract ALL the acceptances people saw on the site on the 13th was because only a very few were premature or made in error (like mine!) - most will pan out to be an acceptance. So good luck those still waiting! :)

BTW, who were you, Zulq? I mean, it should have been reasonably obvious that I was the Canadian guy with a green suit who went to Brandon University... I think we both interviewed March 1st.

Has anyone heard anything from Duke today? Is anyone on the waitlist considering sending a letter of intent at this point? I am thinking about it . . .
 
I just called Duke and they also told me that no decision had been made yet. It looks like the message was a false alarm in some cases. Another interesting note, the lady said that she doubted the website would be updated tomorrow in my case. I interviewed on the last day, so it looks like those of us near the end have even more than one more day to wait.
 
"The DukeMed Account System will be updated on March 21, 2002 from 11:15 to 11:45. We apologize for the inconvenience"
I just found this message on their status page. Looks like they are about to input our status.

FWIW,

I checked my status, and I got in, after a "fake acceptance" last week. Trouble is, I don't know whether to trust this acceptance or not :) . Anybody going for 2nd look?

I got a rejection in the mail today. My first post-interview rejection. Oh well...

yes, I'm still waiting too! My online status hasn't changed, nor have I received any sort of mailing! How long does it take for a letter to travel from NC to RI? It's been almost a week!
 
TommyGunn, I figured it out. We haven't received our letters yet because they have to be delivered by UPS. They contain multiple scholarship offers, plane tickets, and letters signed by the Dean, the CEO of the hospital, and the entire Duke basketball team.

Here's hoping. :wink:
 
Sorrento, remember the letter must be signed by the director of admissions too for it to be official. :wink:

We haven't received our letters b/c they haven't mailed them yet! Yes, for people without any letter yet, we seem to be part of an *unofficial* 3rd batch that will go out this Friday, or even later than that - for those who interviewed really late (Hockeytown also). And it seems we are still under consideration, and some of us might get in (I hope!) :)

But since bots just got in and still has no letter, Duke is abandoning all protocol at this point and accepting and notifying randomly as they go :D
 
Zulq, I'd think you were right except that I was told over the phone the other that my letter indeed WAS mailed out already in the last batch (I assume this means last Friday, unless they for some reason sent some out after that date). So unless I was lied to, my letter is just taking a LONG TIME to get here!!! ahhhh! I hope it's because it's a big fat acceptance package that takes longer to travel by mail than a slim rejection letter! :wink: <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />
 
So is it true that everyone else who hasn't received a letter yet (and not had their online status update yet) interviewed pretty late? I interviewed in mid-December, but I'm still waiting for that letter...weird...

I interviewed Dec. 3 and I havent received a letter and my status check hasnt changed. Heres to waiting!
 
I interviewed Dec. 7. Maybe the delay is due to all that fabulous weather they had that week?!
 
I finally got it!

I GOT WAITLISTED :(

Duke's absolutely my first choice <img border="0" alt="[Lovey]" title="" src="graemlins/lovey.gif" /> , so I guess it's back to the waiting game for me.

I wonder when the waitlist will see some movement? Hopefully before May 15th! :D

PS: Anyone wanna trade? I'll take your Duke acceptance in exchange for my UPenn one!
 
by the way...they lied about the letters all going out last Friday. My letter was postmarked Monday, the 18th. No wonder it didn't get here until today!

(I just got the mail and still nothing. Given our similar history, I think the best I can hope for at this stage is a waitlist, too).
 
Here's to hoping that they actually DID accept much fewer students this year out of fear of overfilling their class. Maybe that means they'll take more students off the waitlist! :D
 
My status webpage changed today and showed my acceptance; I had recieved the letter earlier. Hopefully I'll see a lot of you guys at second look :)

Tommy, if Duke is your first choice, let them know that you would choose it over UPENN. Good luck!

It didn't change last week.

I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet.

Just a little off topic but...

Duke just got beat. I hope those dukies have something else to talk about for the rest of the year. That could get awful depressing.

So, nobody else's status has changed? I realize that the signs are definitely not pointing towards a good decision, I really want to know either way!!

But according to admissions, not ALL decisions have been made yet, so if you interviewed late then it's possible that they're still thinking about your app. Otherwise, I think the status-not-changing thing could mean EITHER a waitlist or rejection. It seems that the online system has only changed to reflect acceptances thus far. I'm guessing tomorrow it'll have rejections/waitlists too, because my waitlist letter said I could either mail in the reply card, or tell them my decision online through the status page.
 
I wanted to look this up on interviewfeedback, but it's STILL DOWN!

My question is, does anyone know how many students typically get accepted off the waitlist before May 15th? I thought basically NO ONE did, but the waitlist letter from Duke made it sound like quite a few will be accepted in the next couple of months. Any thoughts?
 
Hmm. I interviewed on the last day, so I suppose it's possible that my file is still in review.

My status still has not changed! The suspense is killing me! Has anybody else's status changed, besides Dr. Corday??

Thanks tommygunn for your help here... And I don't have an answer to your question, but maybe someone else will if I bump it up...

hey brandonite, I just called the admissions office. They say that the status site isn't "up" yet, and that all decisions WILL be posted regardless of when the letter was sent. Now that I think of it, they didn't say that that would definitely be today. doh. I didn't tell her that I knew some people's status had already been posted. :confused: getting super antsy!!!!!!

well, I guess that news is not altogether too helpful. I just hope she meant it would be posted TODAY, but I don't have the hardy constitution to call back. Care to try?
