OFFICIAL HARVARD COUNTDOWN THREAD.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
strangeattractor: I'm sorry to hear that news about HST. But you never know. Who is to say ALL of the decisions have already gone out. But either way, who wants to go to harvard anyway? JK. Actually I am NP and I don't think any NP decisions go out until friday, however I am not holding my breath here.

PS- Are you done with finals? If not GOOD LUCK!!

Is it true that NP letters will go out this Friday, 3/22, instead of 3/25 or 3/28?

hi all: this is my first post...it is unfortunate that i didn't know about this site earlier...but better late than never!.....i have a question...i applied for both np and hst programs...but was invited to interview only for the new pathway...does this diminish my chances of a favourable decision?...thanks... 😕

You're from Boston? What school do you go to?

Within the next two weeks or so, I'll hear from all my top choices: Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, UCSF, and Wash U. I'm cursing myself now for having procrastinated on the AMCAS and secondaries.

Awwwww crud. Sounds like there's to be yet more waiting.

does anyone know if the np decisions will be emailed or sent by regular mail? i know the hst were emailed...thanks..

Well if they are going to be emailed later today then thats possible... but I havent received any email as of yet. Also, rkr said that he found out decisions actually aren't going out today, but early April.

OK I was bored so I called the admissions office. NP decisions are definitely NOT going out today, but they are going out by the end of the month (which I suppose means the end of next week).

Anyone knows if New Pathway emailed admitted applicants last year? Or do we all have to wait for the snail mail?

bumpers...anyone also waiting for MD/PhD? ...MapK

recently, i met someone who had interviewed at harvard (np) and sent the customary thank you notes to his interviewers. his interviewers replied to his thank you note...peasure to read to your application..etc... now, i did not receive any such notes from my interivewer and i was wondering if anyone of you did...thanks..

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....

This week is killing me, not knowing when the letter will arrive but knowing it should be coming any day now!

Sorry, needed to release pent up tension 🙂

so nobody knows exactly when they are sending out the letters?

i want to call but i'm too chicken!

FYI:

Letters are starting to go out. A friend of mine got a rejection today. The letter was made on the 22nd, Metered on the 25th and post-marked on the 25th.

Besides, I e-mailed Jason last Friday and he said that they hope to have all the letters sent by the end of this week.

Keep praying!

RetroMan

are they no email notifications? i know that the hst folks got their decisions emailed as well...at least those who were accepted...good luck to all of you...

RetroMan•••••where does your friend live?

There's probably no phone call or email. And all the letters are in small envelopes.... Gosh, I should hear from my 3 top three schools this week... preparing myself for the unfortunately-we-have-more-outstanding-applicants-than-the-number-of-availabe-spots letters.

i didn't realize they would be sending the letters out in batches. but that makes sense.
so does anyone know how many batches there are?
and if the batches are mixed with acceptances and rejections? or if they are separated?

RKR:

My friend is from Boston, MA.

My guess is they have all the rejections ready since the 22nd (meaning all the people they didn't interview) and they are just deciding on the last couple of spots for the 2006 class.

By the way this is my top choice and I will stay here if given the chance.

Good luck!

RetroMan, so your friend didn't interview? I interviewed on the 22nd, so I may have some more waiting to do.

Good luck everyone! 😀

RKR and RNAgirl:

That's right. My friend didn't interview. So that's why I think the people that interviewed will have to wait a couple more days.

Good luck to all!

so does anyone know when the letters are going out for those who have interviewed?

anyone have the courage to call...?

Dude--we are such a paranoid bunch...I just wish that the letters would come already!!!
I guess today, though, no news is good news...Good luck all, and keep your fingers crossed!!!

And everybody remember -- don't freak out when you open the mailbox, the admissions coordinator said on interview day that even acceptances come in small envelopes. So wait until you open the envelope to have your fit of hysteria.

On Monday, I called and asked about New Pathway decisions, and they said they would be sent out on Friday (3/29). No emails or calls would be made. I guess we have to just sit tight for a few more days. Good luck!

Hello everyone, I wish I'd posted earlier, but I actually just registered for SDN. I've only stumbled on this website since interviewfeedback has been down. It's great! Anyway, I also called Harvard yesterday. In fact, I called twice because I just got so fed up with all the mixed information. When I called in the morning, I was told that no decisions had been mailed and they hoped to send them all out by the end of the week. So I said, "So, you're mailing all of them on Friday?" and he said, "Yes."

Then, in the afternoon, after reading this site, I got completely annoyed and called back. At that point, they said "Oh, actually, some decisions have been mailed today. We are not sending them all out at once, but in batches. And we hope to send them all out by the end of the week." So I said, "I read that some people had received decisions already." He said, "No, I don't think that's right." (Though I think he may have just been discounting the pre-interview rejections). So I said (and here, I officially become ridiculous, I warn you), "Just to be completely clear: are you sending them out alphabetically?" He said, "Yes, but they are in big batches."

So, there you go. I am ridiculous. I have called multiple times. But I did end up with information that makes me slightly less crazy waiting for the letter. I hope this helps quell the anxiety of other readers as well. At this point, I am reassured by any postings to this list.

Thanks to everyone else who's been sharing information!

Hi la9s-

Welcome to SDN! (though as an infrequent poster, myself, I am not quite worthy of being officially on the welcomming committee)

Thanks for your complete lack of tact when talking to the admissions office  It takes being pushey to get real information. (Although it still sounds like what you got was mosly lip-service) I, for one, very much appreciate you sharing your conversation.

Be sure to read the "signs you are addicted to SDN" post, this way you know the warning signs so as to aid in the early detection of your addiction 😀

I haven't recieved anything from them since I filled out the AMCAS (although I did do a secondary). Think it is too late for an interview? 😛 😛

ALPHABETICALLY?!?!??!

well, that means i am in the first batch, both my first and last names begin with A. i will let you guys no when i officially get my post-interview axe.

A.A. Choker.

thanks la9s for the info!!!

la9s you're my hero! Best of luck to all.

Yeahhhhhhhh baby first rejection from Harvard (pre-interview). They were nice enough to finally tell me (snail mail).

Thanks! Are you still considering going to Einstein?

No problem Retroman 🙂 It's a toss-up between Einstein and Sinai, I don't know which one I prefer 🙁 I guess the financial aid packages will make the decision for me

This is my first rejection letter and i am very pissed 😡 😛

How many people did Harvard interview this year?
How many do they usually accept? Do they have a waitlist? How many are on it?
