Hey Columbia countdown, then UPenn, then Cornel, then Duke, then Yale; I figured we might as well throw the big H into the mix. Does anyone know when decisions go out? When I interviewed, I was told early March, then I read March 15th and March 28 here on SDN. What's the deal?

Yo Original, latest word is "late March"...

BTW, just FYI, all HST decisions have already been made. The last committee meeting was this past Tuesday. So sending in extra stuff at this point is not going to be effective... (Good luck dude!)

As for NP, I'm not sure. Last interview day was Friday, though.

I interviewed at the end of February and they said that decisions would me sent out at the end of March. I think they finished interviewing this week for NP.

p.s. my interviewer told me after the interview, there are still _several_ reviews. so i don't think the final decision on your app was made that night... maybe just the decision on whether to pass you on to the "higher committees" or whatever...

Ooh, ooh I want to join in :) Though I have no extra information to add...just waiting until "the end of March" Really really want to go there. :D

I was thinking about Harvard today at the same time I was thinking about Harry Potter and chuckled to myself that the societies are kind of like the houses at Hogwarts...wonder if they have a sorting hat <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />
 
I don't know if they're still sticking with that Mar. 22 date...I was there on Thursday, and they said that they would mail decisions sometime during the last week of March (though they didn't know the exact date).

Anyway, they didn't give us a specific date...but they said we should hear from them by the end of the month (for NP).

I absolutely remember you. I thought you were the coolest person in the group. I got the feeling that alot of people were stressed out in our group. But then I guess just the fact that it's Harvard can be nerve-wrecking in itself.

I get a crack out of how these countdown threads confidently claim to be "OFFICIAL" <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" /> . Who started this? I think it was Choker with the Columbia thread but I'm not sure. Any input? We should go a step further and re-name this thread "THE ONLY HARVARD-APPROVED OFFICIAL HARVARD COUNTDOWN THREAD IN THE UNIVERSE" :D
 
You mean that all the time I've been following these threads, they've never once been officially endorsed by the Harvard University School of Medicine, the Duke University School or Medicine, or the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons! I'm both shocked and outraged!!

Jaimer, I demand an official SDN investigation!

FYI this thread has been approved by the Harvard Medical School. You're going to have to show us where the Harvard University school of medicine is, so we can apply there as a back-up to HMS. Just kidding :D .
 
Ever since I got rejected, I've been repressing anything to do with HMS. And I thought I did pretty well getting the Columbia P&S right, considering I didn't even apply there... :D

Don't worry about HMS. I think Duke is the best med school in the world and I'm still certain you will get into Duke without a doubt. Besides, your MCATs are too many points above Harvard's accepted average. They probably got scared and freaked out. I'm confidently keeping my fingers crossed for you on Duke. Cheers man!
 
Well, I guess we'll find out this Friday what Duke really thinks of me... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> But that's another discussion for another OFFICIAL COUNTDOWN thread. :D

Did anyone here interview on 2/2? Or more generally, did anyone interview on a Saturday? I think interviewing on Saturday didn't give me the best impression of the school because it was completely deserted and there were very few students to talk to. Also, does anyone know about how the whole ad com process works at the Big H? It seems like your file has to pass from the regional committee to the regular committee to the grand master committee and so forth. Craziness..

what shall i say on the official harvard countdown thread? well...i am waiting for harvard's decision although it probably won't matter that much. harvard was cool.
and yes, interviewing on saturday did suck. i was there on the 9th. can't beleive that i actaully got an interview there...whoa! bowled me over!
 
caliboy, this is true, from my understanding.
my interviewer told me there would be a ton more reviews after the interview.

Yeah, that was me! That conversation the girls next to us on the T were having was a riot. I felt like I was on the Clueless set. :D
 
As a quick update. I emailed my student interviewer, and he told me that he thinks the letters for HST were sent yesterday. So good luck to everyone, and premptively... screw Harvard. :)
 
does anyone know if the NP decisions are still being sent on March 22nd??
 
New Pathway decisions are due to come March 22nd. Anyone excited?

To nerfornothin: You're right.. those girls were so valley. I felt like I was home in LA, not in Boston. BTW I saw that u got into UCSD, congrats!!

Did anyone send Harvard an update letter? I was lazy and didn't. Do you think there is still time? Probably wouldn't make any difference if they are still sending out stuff on 3/22. I also feel like it would be odd to send them a letter saying that Harvard is my first choice. Isn't it everyone's first choice to some extent?

Oh and finally, Yay I'm a senior member now!
 
Cali: Many thanks! Noticed that you're in at UCSD too (in addition to a crap load of other places)! Probably be where I'm headed after receiving my shutdown from Harvard.

I was just as lazy. Didn't send them a thing extra.

nerfornothin-- there's a good chance I'll see ya at SD in the fall! Depends what materializes in the next couple months, but I'm not expecting a whole lot.

HEY have any of you HST people heard any decisions yet? Also, does anyone know if NP decisions are going out by email, or do we have to camp out by the mailbox?

OK I have a final in 7 hours so I'm going to stop procrastinating now. Peace.
 
So, I don't think we ever got this cleared up... Are we expecting letters on Friday or are they sending them?
 
It was never cleared up, you're right--Anyone have the nerve to send Jason Graff an email today? :wink: I am going to not expect to see anything until the middle of next week, but will be pleasantly surprised if a letter comes before...until I open it and read the rejection, then I'll just be bummed.
 
caliboy i haven't heard anything from hst still. i have a sinking feeling in my gut that they sent out those acceptance emails on the 13th and we're all gonna sit like lumps waiting for hard copy until the 22nd...does it bother you to know we prolly didn't get in (i've heard from here now AND interview feedback that they emailed acceptees), yet we're still denied the tangible evidence of our *failure*? (note: i use asterisks because not getting into harvard shouldn't really be called a failure...more like...um...NORMAL)
