i am definitely going to turn down my acceptance here on April 1st. so one of you guys will get it. hang on tight.

To any student already attending: Do we need to buy books for the first 2 years?

You don't need to buy any books. Many students have the online versions that we pass down to our D1. The library also has hard copies and electronic copies of books if you want to read them but you will never need to read any textbook for any class. All testable material are in the posted lectures.

Great! Thank you!!

I wonder what is better, interviewing and getting waitlisted or interviewing and not hearing anything at all. Any idea?

if you didnt hear anything you probably got waitlisted. Call the school to find out.

Anyone know if there will be any movement on the waiting list anytime soon? Have they filled up most/all their seats?

I just noticed that my applicant checklist included a list of the prerequisites and if they were complete. Not sure if that was there before.

are u sure you are on waitlist? applicant checklist only appears for accepted students.

pretty sure. I'll call to confirm but I think there are two checklists, one for applicant and one for accepted students. The applicant checklist includes dat received, lors received, supplemental app received, and the pre req classes. When i click on matriculation/payment or accepted student checklist nothing shows up.

Does anyone know if the alternate list is ranked at MWU? I emailed about my status and got a reply that im on the alternate list.

It's not ranked. Stated on their letter to me. Not sure what that exactly means though. There has to be some rhyme or reason.

Just called. 154 on the alternate list and apparently not even done with interviews...

I interviewed 2/8, in my interview they said 2/9 was the last day for interviews for regular applicants, but that they still had the current Biomedical Sciences Master's class to interview after that, as they wait for their 2nd quarter grades (anyone that qualifies based on GPA gets a 'guaranteed' interview) and they just finished their second quarter. Based on that, I'm assuming what they meant for still interviewing was the biomed students, 'regular' applicant interviews are over!

though the class size is 144, i remembered being told that around 24-30 seats are taken by the BMS students.

thus this lowered the true available spots at MWU AZ to 114-120 spots.

pretty unfair i know. but at least the BMS students paid 33k a year for 1 or 2 year to score an interview.

class size is 140..not 144

My understanding is there is no absolute number of seats that must be "saved" for biomed students. The number of masters students in the dental program varies from year to year.

my understanding confirmed yours. i said that number is usually "taken" by the BMS students not saved for them.

That's so weird. I just called and the admissions department transferred me to the dental admissions department and they said they can't give me a ranking. I'm on the alternate list as well. 🙁

I think howdyandy meant there are 154 people on the alternate list. Not that he is #154 on the list 🙂 my understanding is that the list is not ranked, like you said.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes that's what i meant. The list is unranked and there were 154 ppl on it at the time.

Congratulations on your acceptance!!! I am a current D1 at Midwestern and absolutely love it here! I wanted to let you guys know ahead of time that this Summer we will be offering a Pre-Dental Sim Course. The first session is June 24-25th and the second one is July 8-9th (both weekends cover the same material).

The cost is $150, which I know seems expensive, but we cover A LOT! You will get first hand experience on drilling Class I Preps, Taking Impressions, and Waxing. I did the Sim course as a Pre-Dental student myself, and once I started Dental School I felt way more prepared and relaxed than some of my classmates. For those of you who have been accepted this is a great chance to get a head start. For those still applying, it is another great thing to add to your list of dental experiences and talk about in future interviews. It truly is a great experience, and you will be able to network and get to familiarize yourself with the campus. I really hope you consider, and feel free to message me with any other questions!

Can anyone please tell me what the interview process is like ? Is it similar to the downers grove campus MMI style interview ?

Girlfriend got accepted off the waitlist, interviewed first week of Jan.
3.5-3.6 GPA, 23 AA, 16 PAT.
Second cycle applying, first time applying to Arizona.
She and I will be declining our spots (both of us were accepted).

You can really get that number down if you do the following: apply for AHCCS health insurance once you get an Arizona address, you do not need to buy books, also if you live close to campus you can really cut down on gas and personal expenses.

Just a few tips 🙂
