•Hey you guys,
It has been forever since I posted on these boards, but I just wanted to give you guys some insight about Yale. I'm a first year here and was in the waitlist position this time last year. The deal is Yale usually excepts 150 initially and waits for 51 of those folks to give up their spots before they start on the waitlisters. And most students don't give up their spots until after second look weekend which is some time in late April. Also, last year there was a lot of movement right after the June 1st deadline all the way through the end of June.
The waitlist by the way is usually broken up into 3 tiers. For the last several years, everyone on the 1st tier has gotten an offer of admission and this usually is limited to a very small number of students. The second tier is also a good place to be, as a number of folks get offered spots from this position. Third tier...very slim to no chance. They usually have the tiers by the 1st or 2nd week of April and you can usually call and find out. Also, there is no set numbers in the waitlists...they are more like pools of applicants. Meaning that when a spot opens up, they look into the 1st tier pool for a worthy applicant. Get the idea?
Ok, I hope that helps and hang in there if you really want Yale. Last year, I was in the "top of second tier" according to Mr. Silverman and I got in late June. This place is great and I really wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Feel free to post questions and good luck
!•••••hi spacecadet 22,
Did you do anything to get off the waitlist e.g send in a letter of intent etc...is there anything we waitlisted folks can do to ensure acceptance?
Thanks for enlightening us
