What the hey, I'll start it.

This thread is to compliment its siblings, the Duke, Cornell, and Penn versions.

So, March 11th, is it? How sure are we of that date?

It was a report from s'one who interviewed there last week.

I take it Yale isn't as kind as Duke, and won't be making any post-acceptance phone calls?

I heard that they actually pulled a one-up on Duke, and are sending a singing telegram.

:D

He He. I always said that after the AMCAS fiasco, screw a letter, I wanted a parade. But a singing telegram (perhaps by Silverman in a gorilla suit) will do just fine. :D

I was hoping for something from a more solid source, e.g. someone in the admissions office. I e-mailed Mr. Silverman a while back, but got no response. Has anyone had any luck e-mailing him?

I just emailed him also - but to beg for an interview

I thought he was a really nice guy. We chatted a bit after my interview, and he gave me tips on what to see on my mini-tour around the Yale campus.

Unfortunately, when I wrote him, I accidentally made a bit of an ass out of myself. I'm hoping he just generally doesn't respond to e-mails, and it's not just me.

Sorry to hear that your interviews didn't go well. Who did you interview with? I interviewed with one of the non-academic deans and a fifth-year student. The dean was great; the student was good too, but she was a bit more reserved.

Alright, so do they mail the letter on the 11th? meaning we won't actually find out until a few days later. or is there some other way to check? will it be on their status page?

Thanks for the consolation, Coalboy. They sent me over to the VA to interview w/a psychiatrist and then with a MS-3 or 4 (dual degree, so I wasn't quite clear), who impressed me so much with her background that I basically spent the whole interview in awe of her.

lizparker: I'm not sure anyone knows. My understanding is that even the March 11 date we have is unconfirmed.

Hey Coalboy, are you playing for both teams? I just found a post by you over in the Duke countdown thread!

Just teasing you, good luck with both schools...

Playing for both teams? For a second there, I thought you were asking another question. ...to which the answer is no.

Actually, I'm playing for three teams; I'm waiting to hear from Penn as well. I'm such a himbo!

Hi--the Assistant Director [not Dean... I said Dean before this edit] said the WEEK OF March 11. She said they will mail out a bunch on March 11, and then the next day or so. She said the limiting factor was people-power in the office to stuff and mail all those letters.

Someone told me Yale is March 22, but I dunno... Anyone up for calling them on Monday?

Okay, I guess it is next week. Never mind my source then...

Good luck all! I really liked it there, although I've heard now from a bunch of sources that many residencies frown upon Yalies. Oh well, maybe I won't even have to worry about it, come a week.

Well, vkrn was there not too long ago, so I assume his info is pretty current.

Yes, I was there on March 1.

Hello all! I just wanted to clear some things up. I just interviewed at Yale on the 27th of Feb. They told us that all decisions will be made on the 11th. After decisions are made they will begin stuffing envelopes. They told us that they hope to have all letters in the mail around the 15th. They also said that they would be outsourcing some of the letter stuffing, I'm assuming the rejections, because they don't have the manpower to stuff 4000 envelopes. Good luck!

I have an interview at Yale later this week (either the 13th or 14th. Does anybody know about other interview so late? Do you know if that means that I won't be considered in this "round" of decisions? Any ideas?

Is anybody else having difficulty concentrating today & doing absolutely nothing besides obsessing about Yale?

Can we call to receive our decisions??

Has anyone done this today (11-Mar) ??

Good Luck! :)

•••quote:•••Is anybody else having difficulty concentrating today & doing absolutely nothing besides obsessing about Yale?
••••Absolutely. Unfortunately, four of the schools I am waiting on are supposed to make their decisions today, or sometime this week. It doesn't help matters much that I'm going out of town this afternoon.

The thing is, I don't know if it is worth it to obsess today, as you have the built in USPS delay. I don't think Yale makes phone calls, and I seriously doubt they would tell you over the phone.

I just called. Veronica in the admissions office said that decisions had not been made yet, but that even if they were made today, it would be impossible to send letters out this week. So, at least according to her, we should wait for a letter to be sent by "the end of the month." She also, in response to a question I asked, said that we should wait for the letter and not call in to find out our status. So GG16, maybe they will tell us, but at least Veronica would prefer that we not call in... So people who are anxiously waiting, y'all should just buckle in for a week or so more.

Good luck all! :)

Coalboy, you are too funny! I know it's not "worth" it to obsess today, but I can't quite seem to help it. At least you are going out of town, so you have s'thing else to think about. I however am merely sitting at my computer hitting SDN refresh every 30 secs.

To both Coalboy and GC16, since you're both waiting on Yale and Penn (and Coalboy, the other 2 you made reference to), if you have the luxury, where would you choose to go?

P.S. w/regard to my above question, I'm not looking to grill you guys, I just need a diversion/entertainment.

locita: Believe me, I know that the obsessing is not something we control. I've been in need of a massage for weeks now. Any volunteers? OK, any female volunteers? Hello? < tumbleweed rolls by > :)

As to where I'd go if I had my druthers; I really liked Yale and Penn, but I liked most of the schools I saw. Part of me hopes that they all make the decision for me--i.e. give me the boot--so I can go to Maryland (where I have been accepted, and which I love) with no regrets. Time will tell.

Ha! I've also been collecting tumbleweeds in my mailbox (don't read into that, oh ok, read into that).

A friend of mine was in a similar position to yours last year, i.e. accepted to Maryland and waiting on everywhere else. Turns out he's a mudphud at Chicago now and loving it.

From the sound of it, you're the one who's going to be in the driver's seat in terms of making a decision. As always, best of luck to ya and hope you get the ones you want.

Have fun on your trip...

Forgive me...the 11 March thing was meant for the Duke thread...I am so ******ed.

But it really doesn't matter since I am waiting for all three and wouldn't mind going to any of them (I know, I'm a saint!)

However, Penn is #1 for me...so I am on pins and needles today at work--its really hard to get anything done!!

I'm waiting for Penn, Yale and Duke (all of which promised decisions this week, but are probably gonna come round NEXT week by the sounds of it :( ) and the wait is driving me crazy. I gotta get out and get some fresh air, figure out how to get my mind off this for a week! Cuz then when the decisions show up, it'll be pleasant and unexpected :D :p I really don't know where I would go (if I got into all 3 which I sure won't), I seem to reshuffle them everytime I think about it

12:35 Duke, Penn, Yale....tick tick
12:36 Yale, Duke, Penn....tick tock
12:37

Has anybody tried calling Grace Williams-Pullen?

bump 'n grind baby.

•Has anybody tried calling Grace Williams-Pullen?•••••I checked the website and it says that:

"ALL DECISIONS WILL BE MAILED OUT ON MARCH 31st. NO DECISIONS WILL BE GIVEN OVER EMAIL OR PHONE."

MAILED ON MARCH 31ST?!!!!!!

I tried logging into their system earlier today, but I had forgotten my pw. Thanks for checking and posting Scooby. But why oh why do they need 20 days to send out decisions?

sorry, just venting again

I think it says BY March 31st, not ON March 31st. Not that that helps in pinning down an actual date.

Ah...$hit..you're right :)

It says "BY MARCH 31st..."

grrr....I keep misreading things...

Where does it say that on the website?

•••quote:•••Originally posted by Incendiary:

Did it always have the 31st posted there, or did they recently extend it?

(p.s. I know this is an excercise in futility, but please indulge me)

Ack, still can't find it. Can someone oblige me with the url please? :)

http://medapps05.med.yale.edu/ows-msa/faq.htm

Go down to the "what happens after I submit my supplemental" part.

Ah, thanks meals.

Okay, so now I only have to worry about hearing from three schools this week instead of four. Oh boy...

(p.s. I know this is an excercise in futility, but please indulge me)•••••At the bottom of the page it says "Revised June 5, 2001." So assuming they didn't forget to update this little statement, it sounds like the March 31st thing has been there for quite some time. Unfortunately, this may mean that due to the AMCAS delays they might exempt themselves from meeting this deadline. Then again, maybe this date is what was updated on June 5, in anticipation of AMCAS problems. Who knows...I just want to hear something from them!!!

when i interviewed (2/13) the dean said they were aiming to have final decisions out by the 3/15 deadline, but that if necessary they were allowed to send out decisions as late as 3/31. that may explain the website comment...

no_dignity_left asked for clarification on the Allo thread. As of yet, no replies.

With regard to the date posted on the website, my (gut) feeling is that was a date picked last June, and the info provided by Silverman at our interviews is probably more on target. At least I'm hoping it is...

:) Anyone have any news on Yale?

i just called them and they said nothing has been mailed out yet they are still working on the decisions and we will kno sometime next week latest by months end. :) :) :) :)

I swear this is killing me...

Penn's done, Duke's done, why not Yale...

I also called this morning and talked with Veronica. She would not give me any information about an exact date. She only would say the decisions would be mailed by the end of the month.
