OK State c/o 2017 applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Right, but there are some OOS people who are living in OK. I'm trying to gauge if mail has reached other states yet.

Just remember that OSU usually sends both acceptance and rejection letters in the same sized envelope so don't completely freak out if you open your mailbox and see a small white envelope. The difference is in the thickness.

The way the mail works here, people from OOS can get mail before people living in Stillwater. Actually, that happened to me.

Same here. The mail had to go to Tulsa and then come back. People in nearby states got letters before me.

Yeah, multiple pieces of paper, perhaps with a sticker... those are good. However, you never know, so don't have a heart attack either way.

As for the waitlist, the OOS waitlist usually moves a fair amount - so while there is never any way to know, don't completely discount the chance either.

If anyone wants to see me during open house... I'm not signed up for a booth or anything at this point, but I will probably be around somewhere. For a while at least.

Mine had 6 pieces of paper and a sticker... so the sticker theory continues...

Woohoo! Congrats all!
As the OOS acceptances come in, let me know if you guys need anything or have any questions :-D (Well, IS too, but I figure most of you guys know more about Stillwater than I do!)

Congrats!!!! Did they mail it to your permanent address or current address?

well, got my rejection. guess im going to have to hope i get accepted at tuskegee and try to transfer.

Haven't heard anything yet, but seeing as mail made it to TX and CA today I'm guessing I will hear something tomorrow. (in GA)

Current mailing address.

Thanks cowgirla! I'll definitely be making a trip to Stillwater and hopefully that will give me a good idea of the school, but I'll definitely ask if I have any future things I want to know more about. I've been there before a few years ago (considered OSU for my undergrad) but I don't think I saw much or any of the vet school, or if I did I don't remember. It's pretty darn short notice to plan, but I'll consider possibly making the trip this weekend for the open house.

I'm an alternate, and not sure what I should do now. I have an acceptance at k-state, but OSU is a better price and closer to home. I have never been to Stillwater, and it's looking like I can't get out of work Saturday unless it's absolutely necessary. The letter leads me to believe that offers of admission to alternates "cannot take place earlier than April 15" but then a few sentences down it says "confidentiality of applicant records prevents us from releasing specific rankings of applicants, but I am pleased to tell you that your records compare favorably with those of students being offered admission" which makes me feel like I have a good chance. Did anyone else have a waitlist letter that vaguely mentioned rankings? And do people only get off the waitlist after April 15? I don't want to take a chance on losing my seat to wait for another acceptance, or would I just lose my deposit?

You would just loose the deposit, but you'll loose the seat if you don't pay by the deadline. Can't say for sure about what OSU does, but a lot of schools don't contact alternates until after the April 15 deadline. So if you have nowhere else you're waiting on or would want to go, then probably the best plan would be to pay the deposit for K-state and then wait. If you get in to OSU off of the waitlist, then you can make someone on K-state's wait list happy and give up your seat, though you will loose that deposit. If no offer, go to K-state.

I think the open house is more geared towards the public. Like it has been said in the past, you can pretty easily schedule a tour by contacting admissions and you will probably get more out of it than the open house.

My alternate letter said the exact same thing. My guess would be that it's just a form letter.

Yeah I'm really thinking I'm going to wait and see what OSU says. I'm just so ready to be settled on a school, I hate the waiting 🙁

Yeah. It's neat to go to, and they do have tours I think, but you can schedule a tour anytime.

I emailed the admissions coordinator, and according to her they'll be giving more in-depth tours than normal during the open house. I question if it's that much different, but, eh, make of it what you will.

Either way, heading up there this weekend actually works pretty well with my schedule, so I think I will go to the open house.

nothing in the mail for me today, its the last school I have to hear from!

OOS from the west coast checking in, got my acceptance letter (and sticker!) today!

Anna had said she made a FB page for the class on 2017. I can't seem to find it so if anyone else can PLEASE post the link. Thanks! I'm so excited!!

Is the sticker on the envelope?? I have not received anything yet! Still waiting in FL!

Yeah. They kind of use it to 'seal' the envelope.

I could throw a rock to Oklahoma from where I am in Arkansas, and I still haven't gotten anything D:

OOS here in Texas, accepted today! 😀

Hi, if you dont mind me asking...what part of Texas are you from? Just curious on how long it will take me to get mine I'm from Wharton Texas and still waiting.🙁

I'm in NW Arkansas and I got my letter yesterday, BUT it was almost two hours later than the mail usually runs so I think stuff may have gotten backed up during blizzard. Hopefully you will get it today

Got my waitlist letter today. I'm in New England so I was shocked to see a letter today. Goodluck to everyone else waiting to hear.

Just got my waitlist letter today in Connecticut. Does anyone know how many people they put on the waitlist and how good the chances are of getting off it?

Not sure on #'s on waitlist for OOS, but I know over 600 OOS's applied and that is more than ever so if you got waitlisted you were pretty good.

I saw Anna today and asked her about the facebook group. She said it was called Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences class of 2017 (really long name btw). I tried searching for it and couldn't find it. She said she thought she made it searchable but would double check. She also said that when you send your deposit in, you will get an email from Joyce Axton and it will have a link to the group in it.

Same part of AR here. It wound up in my neighbor's mailbox yesterday (we have the same last name, happens all the time). It was a rejection, so oh well 😛 Here's hoping I get off the Mississippi waitlist.

Thanks for asking. I also emailed her today earlier and she said we would get it in the confirmation email. Apparently it is super top secret....:lock::shrug:
