I emailed Tess today as well and she said that we will for sure hear by Friday. Waiting continues but at least we know we will have an answer before the end of the week...

I was so hopeful all week but it looks like Friday it is.

It’s only 1pm in Oregon! And if I recall correctly, didn’t they send IS invites at like 3 or 4?
But yeah, ready for my rejection so I can stop thinking about it 😳
I was going to say this. PST! West coast best coast.

You might not hear today but I definitely wouldn't rule it out lol.

Oooh gives me hope. My thoughts are, I might get rejected or I might not. But at least I’ll know. Right now the waiting is more painful than the rejections (though Purdue with the 2x emails was savage and Missouri was a fav...)

The waiting is so so painful. I also had hope it was going to be earlier in the week. Still hopeful it’ll be today!

I got my IS invite at 11 am. I received an email today about the details of the interview. According to the invite, they have to be confirmed by days end tomorrow. Make sure to keep an eye on your email between now and then in case you have to confirm. Best of luck!

OSU doesnt interview OOS candidates, so there wouldn't be anything for them to confirm.

Oos alternate- I’m trying to look through old threads but do we know if the waitlist moves much?
It really depends on the year! I know quite a few people from my class that were alternates. But then I think the year after had substantially less movement

I was an alternate for 2022 and we had something like 7 alternate spots that needed to be filled, but the year before that had 0 (if my friend told me correctly).

@johnsmith123 and @ziggyandjazzy i think im slightly misunderstanding but reading old threads- do they not call anyone off the alternate list before april? i thought they would do like other schools and pull off the list as spaces get denied.

OOS rejected. Was hoping for some good news the day before my birthday, but can't say I'm surprised 🤣 Congrats to the accepted people and alternates!

I don’t of many/any schools that pull people off the waitlist before April unless they dramatically under admitted their class. Every vet school I know of will over admit OOS students, at least to a certain degree, because some will not accept the offer. I doubt you will hear anything before April for this reason. Once the deadline to confirm a slot passes, they can see if any seats remain in the class. Many students wait until the last day to confirm a seat or deny. Does this make sense? I don’t know of many vet school waitlists that have dramatic movement before April though I am sure there are other systems out there.

Agreed with @ziggyandjazzy. Don't expect anything before the April deadline. For 2022, they take note how many spots are open after the deadline then they need a few days to rank the alternate list and extend offers. I'm assuming it will work this way again if there are alternate spots available.

Does anyone happen to know if Oregon offers scholarships to WICHE students to make up the difference between IS/OOS tuition if the WICHE funding from the student's state of residence doesn't fully make up the difference?

I’m not sure I understand. You’ll either get wiche or you won’t. I thought wiche was guaranteed to pay the difference between IS and OOS tuition. If you don’t get wiche, there aren’t any special scholarships available for you to my knowledge. I got a 2,500 scholarship part of the way through my first year. Lots of friends got similar scholarships but they weren’t associated with wiche.

Regular students probably wont know the answer to this question unless they are WICHE from AZ. I only know this info for WSU because my best friends are WICHE from AZ and they had talked to Stacey about the scholarship they got that was the same. I would reach out to Oregon's recruiter to ask them about this directly.

Edit:the tuition difference at OSU (idk their tuition) might also not be as great as WSU so it may not be a thing there.

Does anyone know why Oregon starts a month later than other vet schools?

Answered my own question- it’s on a quarter system
And because Oregon wants to do anything possible to let other states know that we are the weird child who has to be different in every regard.

Can I ask how you feel about the quarter system? Any pros/cons 🙂
Also any other “weird child” facts you’d care to share would be very appreciated!

Just committed to Oregon! Can’t wait to meet some of you guys!

Congrats! I really liked it when I visited over the summer! If money wasn’t an issue, it would be my #1 school choice. If my IS rejects me, I’ll see you there

What were some of your favorite parts when you visited? Im pretty into outdoor activities so it’s something I’m really looking forward to out there. Fingers crossed for your IS! Cheaper is allllways better as they say.

I think Corvallis is in the perfect location. Close enough to a major city where the commute isn’t bad, 1 hour away from the coast (Newport is awesome)! Weather was not too hot for the summer which I enjoy, and I heard it doesn’t snow a lot there.
As far as the program goes, I like smaller classes sizes. Also, The students get a variety of exotic animals to do necropsies on since the Pacific Ocean and zoo are nearby!
The only knock is the quarter system, but I’m sure it would just take some time getting use to

I wrote this for someone who PMd me so I will copy and paste

- Plus: less material covered on final exams (ie like 10 weeks instead of 14 weeks), if you don't like a prof or class you aren't stuck with it as long, spring break doesnt fall in the middle of the term
- minuses: since all other schools are on semesters you can have issues scheduling summer programs (though this can mostly be avoided), being in school in June really sucks, and by the end of June you can be really burnt out with only a week between the winter and spring quarters

Awesome!! Let me know if you have any questions 😀
