Pacific Northwest University (PNWU-COM) Discussion Thread 2014 - 2015

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's a little frustrating that people who got their interview a week ago are getting moved when I've been waiting since November.:yeahright: /rant
If you're out of state you will get shafted . Hope told me herself that out of state student don't get moved up much

The wait list for moving up interviews isn't first come. They rank you.

For those who have already interviewed: Did your interview MMI's include role play scenarios or only Q&A? Also any suggestions on types of questions to prepare for? Any help would be much appreciated.

Can anyone comment on the schedule for interview day? I am trying to schedule my return flight and wanted to get an idea of how late the day would go. Thanks!

I attached a picture of the schedule for the interview day from the email Hope sent me. Are you interviewing 1/24? If so, see you there!

Tips? Practice. Out of everything I did I feel like practicing is what helped me the most. I looked up some potential MMI questions online (Google worked just fine) and sat down 1 on 1 with my dad, my wife, and a couple other people willing to help me out and they just asked me the questions and I answered as if I were in an interview. This helped me think about some of the topic that may be addressed and also helped me work on giving concise clear answers to questions without rambling too much. You can do more research if you want as to figure out little tips and tricks for interviewing ie don't fidget too much or stammer too much, but I feel like just practicing helped me get over some of those interviewing taboos.

I have an interview here in March and I'm not from the Pacific Northwest, anyone know if I even have a chance here? Does anyone know how many spots are still open?

I have interview this Saturday. What exactly should I expect? Is it one-on-one? Or an MMI?
Not trying to be rude, but if you would have spent literally 2 minutes browsing the forum you would know more than enough about the interview. Maybe I'm being too critical, I'm sorry, but you can do a little bit of research to find some simple answers.

Interesting. We will have to compare how many there are in each of our sessions after. I'm curious how many people are interviewing Saturday.

If you have an interview you have a chance. They don't give interviews out if they aren't somewhat interested in you as a candidate.

Any tips for shy people for the group discussion? I can handle one-on-one interviews fine but I feel I tend to shut down in group settings.

Just be confident and do your best!

To everyone else who's gonna be there tomorrow looking forward to seeing yall, best of luck to everyone!

Has anyone from the 01/24 interview group heard anything back yet? I know it is early still..

Nothing here from the 1/24 either, not really expecting anything before tomorrow I'd imagine.

It sounded like we won't hear back until this Friday at the earliest. The average call back time from the other interview days this cycle seemed to be about 11 days.

Yeah but hopefully we can hear sooner than others did! It seemed like it took them longer then because certain staff/Dean being out. Either way we'll just have to wait and see!

I suppose that we can't really do thank you emails/letters post interview

Obviously living in the future.

I wonder if it'll take till next week to get the results since the 1/24 interview was humongous. It may take a while to seat and discuss about all the 140 candidates.

Definitely living in the future too but kind of at peace with whatever happens. Are you just sending them to the administrative contacts? They did not provide us with any cards during the MMI's.

Congrats! Just curious, did your secondary application status change? Mine still shows "Interview."
I won't be able to check for a few hours, but I'll let you know. Congrats to you too!

Received a call, and also have updated status on the website. It was funny because I had checked the website 5 min prior to getting the call, and thought they won't be calling today. But when I checked the site after the call, it was updated.

Congrats to all of my new future classmates! Excited to get to know all of you. If you can or haven't yet, hop on
Facebook and join our class of 2019 group.

Your story sounds pretty similar to mine. Cumulative GPA of 3.1, sGPA of 2.9, and MCAT 25. Lots of volunteer, international work, and a few years as an ER tech. My junior and senior grades were really strong which made a difference. I interviewed 11/15 and was accepted a week later. The interview is really huge at PNWU (as with any COM, I'm sure). Show that you are service-oriented, and that those bad grades early on were a fluke and you've learned from them. Have a good understanding of some common ethical scenarios and just be yourself. If you've been granted an interview, then that means grade-wise you're OK - now its a matter of who you are as an applicant. Good luck!

You're dead wrong about how getting an interview means your grades are ok. The reason the admissions officer gave me for denial was having 'low' grades (even though I learned from my mistakes and pulled a 3.8 my junior and senior year LOL). The sad fact is that I know If I had color in my skin, I would have been accepted. This whole system of admissions is a joke.
