Post-Apocalyptic WWorld of Pokemon - Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
TL;DR:
Ash found some loot, then found a knockout blow to the head.
Several pokemon are rumoured to have evolved?
Romoret - a cute little wild Charmander - is dead.

As an aside, I know Romo has played extreme and reckless as a villager in the past, but its no fun (for him) to lynch him literally first every single time. I am surprised he even still signs up tbh...

Who cares, we can just decline to take the hit tonight, right?

I haven't noticed it.

I maintain my original vote was probably best.

I don't play often aside from when @Gwenevre tells me to get on SDN.

Gah I come back from Palm Sunday Mass and y'all gone and killed a charmander!

I wouldn't call it reckless, more so that I like to change things up a bit. I don't have a consistent play style which is why I often get killed early because I'm less predictable.

The limp, dead body of a small orange charmander was found beaten to death, the tiny fire on his tail completely extinguished. Two small shapes - friends, perhaps? - watched from a distance as his body was gathered and brought into the settlement.

At one point you told us to just lynch you in one of the games when you had a semi-important role to teach us a lesson, and admitted to being sketchy somewhat intentionally. I would call that reckless. But yes, you are unpredictable as well.

This isn't sketchy, just stupid.

There is definitely a fine line where recklessness become stupidity and makes the game less fun.

Ok just read through, I didn't know the game even started! Sorry for missing lynch won't happen again.

contingency vote: lynch rocky

I am always suspicious of those who post after lynches expressing regret for who was lynched.
"I'm so upset... Not charmander"
It always sounds like a wolf trying to be sympathetic. Don't have anything else and I won't be around for later.

Near Viridian City…

Pikachu was worried. He had managed to avoid falling into the deep pit trap that had engulfed Ash, but his worried calls of “Pika? Pika-chuu?” had not received any sort of response. He could just barely make out the shape of Ash at the bottom of the hole, and his usual technique for waking him up – a light electric shock – had been completely ineffective. He wasn’t sure what to do, and was thinking about just running to the township for back up when a sudden rustle nearby startled him.

Pikachu dashed swiftly to the brush by the edge of the path, and watched from the cover as two tall shapes walked up to the trap. They looked down, laughed, then made some snide comments to one another while they carefully gathered up the items that had fallen off the sledge. Some seemed to be too common for them, and they tossed them aside in the dirt. The pair then disappeared back down the path, leaving Pikachu to resume his watch at the pit's side.

He was pretty sure he could see Ash breathing...

In Pallet Township…

The infirmary was very busy overnight. The sad little charmander had been rushed in and all the medical folk immediately went to work. It wasn't particularly likely to succeed, but come on, they couldn't let charmander die without at least attempting CPR. After several backbreaking rounds, lots of drugs, and a last ditch shock from one of the electric types, they were rewarded by the tiniest of embers starting to smoke on Romoret's tail. They placed him in a warm incubator (careful not to set the oxygen too high!) and kept a very close eye on him overnight.

Welcome back @Romoret.

The following morning, everybody in the mess hall was still buzzing with yesterday's news about the evolved Pokemon. Despite him being a pillar of the Pallet Township, it took almost the entirety of breakfast before anyone noticed that a rather important somebody hadn't shown up. They all laughed, called him a slowpoke, and figured he would show up eventually. He was part of the group who had stayed up most of the night, and people had heard him rustling and researching in his room even later...

It wasn't until noon that someone finally decided to check in on Professor Oak, and they were shocked to find him dead in his bed. Even worse - there wasn't any hint of how he died, or any evidence of a struggle...

Dead is @Devastating - Professor Oak, a VILLAGER who could research the answer to a game mechanics question every other night.

Ash got looted yo.
CPR is surprisingly effective on dead charmanders (Romoret).
Professor Oak (Devastating) is dead.

This write-up really isn't long enough to warrant a tl;dr I think, ha.

I appreciate your write ups

SOV... Someone found out I was a villager last night. Write up said I was blasted with flames.

So Romoret was a wild Charmander that was brought in and revived?

That's what I get from it. He didn't have any abilities yet because he wasn't evolved.

From my night action last night I gathered that there's a capturing mechanic, because at least one of the items is a type of poke ball. So there must be some human characters.

So that would mean either be captured to evolve or Romo would have to acquire a Firestone? former would make more sense if wild pokes were neutral. Idk

Pretty sure yesterday's write up called romo a villager, ie not neutral. Also i was injured last night and can't vote until healed apparently. Heals would be appreciated.

Captured maybe. Charmander evolves through leveling up so a firestone most likely isn't necessary

Don't think we want to evolve any of us. The initial write up suggests evolving pokemon are those that are susceptible to the virus that kills us. Also, if mods are following pokemon logic, Charmander doesn't evolve with a fire stone.

Night 1 results called me a villager.

Charmander doesn't evolve with a fire stone, though, so I'm thinking it may be the former, even though Romo was a villager and not neutral...? Also, apparently with the evolution = bad juju mechanic going on, we probably want to avoid that, anyway.

Yeah, but the second write-up had this:

If it was to be believed... a reckless pidgey, owned by a very young trainer, hadn't been carrying his Everstone and had evolved. This happened almost two weeks ago, and the newly fledged pidgeotto had been quarantined (as always). Usually they went vicious within hours, and then died within days.

But not this time. The pidgeotto was duly distressed by his quarantine, but hadn't become at all feral. He seemed completely normal, and his young owner was distraught at their separation. The leadership of the other settlement wasn't sure what to do about the situation, and had reached out to all the others for advice. That wasn't all, however; they also reported that they had seen their first sightings of live wild metapods in five years. These bug Pokemon were known to breed and evolve quickly, so many were cautiously hopeful that this was a sign that the virus had finally burned itself out. A plan of attack had to be made, and the older members of the township gathered together and discussed all night.
So I don't think it's out of the question. Still possible evolution comes with unwanted side-effects, but not necessarily an immediate death sentence.

Nice catch.

I was put to sleep last night and can't talk to my PMing buddies until I'm healed/wake up naturally (who knows when that'll be). So healing would be appreciated!

Lynch SOV for now.

PS. I haven't eaten in the past 2 days because of stomach virus/food poisoning, and I haven't had any desire to eat for fear of throwing it up... But all this talk of waffles has me now wanting waffles. Lol

I never played the original Kanto games or I would have known. Lol

Oh I know, that's why I'm speculating a capturing mechanic.

Had the pokedex last night and got this result:

"Pokemon who aren't injured or lured with some bait are fairly difficult to catch, but it's definitely still possible. Some Pokemon will even go willingly with trainers if they happen to like them!"

So there are trainers and pokemon present in game as well as other humans (Professor Oak). The one case of a non-aggressive evolved pokemon (beyond the metapods that wouldn't be able to attack anyway because all they do is harden ;p ) was with a pokemon who had a trainer. It may be a good idea to try at capture one of the in-game pokemon and see if they evolve.

Do you think so? I know wild Metapod only use Harden, but they theoretically should know Tackle since the earlier Caterpie did.

Correct. I was just making a joke because a lot of people don't like metapods and when you run into wild ones all they do is harden.

It's interesting, though, and may change our theories about the game setting. I'll stop for now and wait until we have more information.

You call it nerd talk, this is strategy and information sharing.

I rest my case... only nerds understand what "harden" means (in terms of Pokemon). The rest of us are all thinking like 13 year old boys.
