I was accepted to SOMA (school of osteopathic medicine in arizona) in early April. On tuesday, I received a phone call from Meharry Medical College if I may be interested in filling in the last spot. What would you do?

Originally, I was 100% down for SOMA over Meharry until I heard that the 2011 class bombed their practice boards. And, my fear about Meharry is that I hear that they are not doing too hot with their boards.

In regards to studying for the boards, I do hear that to score my best, a lot of work will be what I do on my own. Is that true?

i think board scores are pretty individual, and it doesn't seem like theres that big a difference between the 2 schools- i guess the question is do you care MD v DO, and is there a cost difference? what about the match lists for the 2 schools? It seemed to me that Meharry's match was decent.

If you dont mind me asking what was your decision?

to update: I received misinformation about SOMA. they bombed practice boards, but are predicted to do better according to the faculty. they do teach the material on the boards.

i decided to go to SOMA. the brand new facilities, proximity to home and family, and surrounding city life fits my personality and will allow an easier adjustment than moving out to nashville.
