Any alternate listers hear anything yet? Getting a little ansy! Historically (if you look on the last 2 year's official acceptance threads) a handfull of people come off the waitlist by the end of April. Only 12 days left...

any news from anyone?! is the class full is that why we arent seeing movement on here? damn lets go...

I was given a deadline of 4/30 to respond to the acceptance. I'm leaning no but still sitting on it.

From the last post it seems that people were given a 30th for a date to submit their intent to attend and make their decisions. To my fellow (nervous) alternate list people, well just have to wait and hope for an email of a call I'm guessing the first week or two of May. I am interested in finding out how many people are actually on the alternate list though. Is it 20, 50, 100, 500?! If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure of the number for MWU-IL, but the alternate list on their sister campus MWU-AZ has approx 180 people on their altnernate list. pretty scary tbh. I talked to multiple people that are on the list of dental faculty here at MWU-IL, and none of them will disclose the number.

I think you're probably right. It must be this week or at the very latest next week. I don't see why they would wait any longer to have the committee meet, choose their desired alternates, and start calling waitlisters since they should have already received the list of applicants with down payments at other schools and also the April 30th deadline has passed which was the decision deadline for the final group of interviewees that were accepted to inform MWU-CDMI of their decision. The "wait" may soon come to an end for some of us. Good luck to all waitlisters, and please do us the favor of posting here if in fact you are accepted off the waitlist so we can at least know that there is movement!

I gave up my seat on April 5th... the waitlist will move. I know it will.

Hey, I've been on here for a while but never registered. I applied late (September) but I got invited for an interview on Tuesday 3/19.2013!!!!. I'm unspeakably excited but wondering if its too late and if my chances are lower then slim, has anyone heard of a post march acceptance, or would this be the last round?

If you don't mind, can you tell me your GPA and DAT scores plz!
Thanks!

You may have given up your seat on April 5th, but they had another round of interviews after that date so who's to say they didn't give your seat to someone else who interviewed after you and that there aren't any spots open for waitlisters currently? Hopeless as it may sound, I would encourage all of us waitlisters to start making preparations for next cycle. I do believe we'll see movement on the waitlist at some point, but statistically only a very few of us will come off of the waitlist and that's if the dang thing even ever starts moving. Better to act like we need to be prepared to apply for the next cycle and in so doing actually become prepared to apply if it comes to that, then to just sit around hoping the odds fall in our favor. And if they do, well then kudos to us! Not trying to be a downer here, I've just done this whole song and dance a couple times now and am sharing what I know to be true. Plan for the worst, hope for the best!

Hey! My lil sis just got accepted to Midwestern Dental School. I was just wondering if you could tell me what books you used for the first year. I am currently in medical school and I wanted to pass down some of my books if the school used them. For example, do you guys use Grants Dissector for anatomy lab? Thanks for your help!

Yep on Grants.

To those who are getting aprtment near the campus, would you mind sharing the info? I don't even know where to start.

there has been movement. I know of one person who has been accepted off of the alternate list

anyone else? Just 1 person off the waitlist?

I called and was basically told there has been little to NO movement at all yet. If you are on the alternate list you should have gotten an email from Midwestern a while ago about there has been no movement and no April interviews. I know it is nerve racking, I am in the same boat, we just need to keep going making our applications better and hope for the call sometime. Nothing major has gone on though.

I wonder why it's taking longer than usual...in the past years most people have already found out around this time about whether they have been accepted off of the alternate list or not.

I received a call yesterday saying I was selected off the alternate list. Unfortunately I am unable to take it due to not having all my prereqs. Best of luck to whoever gets my spot!

If you any of you from this school are accepted, and feel like you highly don't want to go to dental school, and think that it you will regret being a dentist... Then please find an acceptable alternative, because someone, maybe from the waiting list, really wants to be in your spot to fulfill your dream. Again I am not motivate you to quit, I'm just sharing what I think you should do if you feel bad or uncomfortable

I got a called yesterday and was accepted from the alternate list. So happy!!! Definitely accepting it.

Does MWU-IL have a good reputation? What are the pros of attending MWU-IL? Thanks!
