did I say tomorrow? I meant Monday....too excited and jittery!

Wear a pant-suit. I think a women in a full pant-suit with high heels is both sexy and professional. It looks less secretarial too, much more confident.

The trouble is some of the older interviewers are old-fashioned. And I am definitely not looking to be sexy.

Please don't look for skirt suits simply to appease old-fashioned interviewers. No one cares; the best thing to do is buy whatever YOU feel most comfortable in. I wore a pant suit and was complimented many times by both female and male interviewers.

To answer your first question, my best friend actually bought a skirt at Ross last year (she must have been extremely lucky to find one there IMHO) and got it tailored. It looked really nice! You could also try looking online at Banana Republic/Ann Taylor sales.

Well, I didn't mean sexy in that sense. Pants aren't generally considered "sexy" but I think women look good in them. Maybe the wrong word to use; attractive and professional is what I meant. A little less conventional than the skirt look but to each his/her own.

If my transcript status has just been changed to "recieved/approved", does it mean TMDSAS has verified my transcript?

How can I tell, from the TMDSAS log-in page, my primary application has been verified? or transmitted?

My payment was received by TMDSAS on 7/12 and Today is 8/16. I do not know how long I still need to wait until my app is verified/transmitted by TMDSAS. (Are these two status the same?)

When transmitted to schools it will say so on the status page, where the schools are listed.

Its been a bit longer than a month, so you should be getting transmitted within the next week or two.

Hey guys!I was wondering if there is a day of the week that texas colleges usually send out interview invites. I read that San Antonio usually sends them out on Tuesday..do other colleges have a day like that? I'm still waiting for my first invite 🙁Thanks!

addo, Thanks! There is a column called status in the table where the schools are listed. The status is still "processing" 🙁 At least I know where to look for the status change now.

Somebody posted on SDN a couple of years ago that he has the impression that tmdsas transmits on Wednesday or Thursday only, not on every weekday. I wonder whether this is still true this year.

My payment was received on 7/8 and I'm still obsessively checking every 5 minutes..

I submitted both AMCAS/TMDSAS Aug 9 (Payment for TMDSAS Aug 10) - I cannot stop checking, even though I know it will take at least a month to process - so optimistic I am! Driving me nuts though, the waiting process, I wish I knew where I stood in line...they should tell you! Might make me less nutty!!!

Even checking after a month has passed is being overly optimistic, as the waiting times are around a 6 weeks.

Within a few days of TMDSAS application being open.

No such thing as overly optimistic! Just ready to be in medical school already! I realize the wait time is 4-6 weeks (if not more), but still!

i was loking over my melrin page for el paso and tech. the texas tech app has all he required portions to have check marks. But the El Paso Section where it says "Closes 6/1/2011" it has a wrench, which they say work in progress. i already did the submit an app for foster el paso, but it still says work in progress. does it stay a wrench until they get my TMDSAS app?

Sorry to hijack the previous poster's topic... but I didn't think El Paso had a secondary. Is there anything after the primary you have to do to apply to the TX El Paso school?

No, there isn't.

Just wondering if anyone with an app transmitted in august got an interview invite..??

I was wondering if anyone might know the answer to this. I know students from UTMB can opt to complete their clinicals at Houston or Austin, but does anyone know if they can do it in Dallas? What if your reason is that your spouse will be there?

Submitted: 7/30
Payment received & Processing: 8/2

Lame.. I submitted everything but my personal statement on 6/1 because I had time away from home for a bit. Once I got home though, I got smacked with running errands, job hunting (working PT as a teller at a bank now), volunteering, babysitting, piano tutoring, helping my parents run the convenience store, and everything else imaginable. I had to wait until around mid-July for my last letter of recommendation, and I miraculously found time to write my PS (which I think turned out pretty good) and the other two optional essays. I didn't have any trouble writing them.. just had trouble finding the time to sit down and work (it took 9 hours in one sitting, finished around 5:30AM). /rant

Anyways, I really hope my application can be transmitted by mid/late September. I know it takes 4-6 weeks (definitely longer now..) to be transmitted from the time they process it.. so that means I should be transmitted by around 9/15, which means interview invites (hopefully) in October.

Sorry, I had to keep myself sane by complaining to the world.
Good luck, everyone! :xf:

I am having a major crisis. I have been looking everywhere for a skirt-suit but I cannot find one anywhere that isn't frilly and unprofessional. Ann Taylor and Banana Republic are way out of my price range. Where else can I find one?

I went to Banana Republic and got two $300 suits for $80 each… They have some really really great sales! I could not find one that looked more age appropriate anywhere else, I didn't want to look like I was an old lady in a suit… Try looking at the sale rack, I ended up going to two BRs to find the full suits since they are sold as separates, but it was totally worth it!

From what I have seen so far:
Tues- UTMB, UT San Antonio
Wed- Texas Tech (but I got mine on a Tuesday so they may not really have a set day...), Texas A&M
Thursday- Texas A&M, UT schools
Friday- Texas Tech

So this is really wishy washy right? Don't obsess about it too much, they just do it when they do it. Sometimes they break it up into two days a week when they send them out... And its super unpredictable. Plus, if you think that none get sent out on Mondays, that will drive you crazy...

The whole merlin site is messed up... I got an interview at Tech in Lubbock and mine still has random exclamation points and wrenches! Don't worry about it, if you get an interview they will send you an email... The status update online is useless.

Nope... Just wait!

This is mostly a question for people who went through the process already, and I apologize for the douche-ness of asking about canceling interviews when I know that there are people waiting for their first. So, if I come off as a jerk, try to think of the children.

I'm a teacher in Houston, and I want to avoid time away from my classroom. I've gotten interviews at five TX schools so far, and really want to go to school here, both because I like Texas and because it's so inexpensive relative to a private education and my goals involve primary care in an underserved area (read: not raking in the dough).

I've been thinking lately of canceling two OOS interviews that I already have plane tickets for because I hate the thought of my students falling behind. On one hand, is it arrogant of me to a.) think that two days of my instructing them matters one iota in terms of their lives, and b.) to turn down interviews without an acceptance in hand? On the other, if I decline the interview, the spot goes to someone who is more likely to matriculate there, and nobody's time gets wasted.

I was wondering if anyone knew stories of people who interviewed all over Texas and didn't get in anywhere, or if talking to schools early on is a reliable predictor of at least getting in somewhere (assuming that you're socially competent and don't insult the interviewer to his or her face).

Or am I just being an idiot?

I understand not wanting to miss any more days than you have to, and it is much more likely you'll get in to a TX school (if you're a resident here) than an OOS anyway, but if I were in your position I would ask myself this: "If I don't get into a Texas school am I going to regret skipping these interviews when I'm going through all this again next year?" If the answer is yes, you need to go to them.

Another solution might be seeing if you can push them back to the latest date possible. That way, you give yourself lots of time to get a pre-match offer in state and cancel them then.

It's up to you, and if you already have 5 interviews you'll probably get accepted SOMEWHERE, but if I were in your position I would go.

I agree. If you've already bought the tickets you might as well go. Better safe than sorry! Plus, it's nice to see other schools as a point of comparison (I think).

Finally, there is a god..

Payment Received 7/8
Verified/Transmitted 8/20

So how long after being transmitted did y'all start hearing from schools?

I got transmitted on 7/06, but didnt get my LORs in until 7/20, and I got a call from TCOM on 7/21. Then it took about 16 days to hear from other schools.

Good Luck Everyone:luck:

I submitted 8/6 but its seems like there are so many delays!

Austin Community College sent unofficial transcripts to TMDSAS and AMCAS so that took about a week to get re-sent

I did a post-bacc program University of Buffalo and they're taking FOREVER to release my transcript

I just found out that I owe University of Houston $690 for a loan they charged me back after graduation, didn't know until I tried to get a transcript

Its like everything's getting in the way of me being transmitted ha ha!!

Re-take the MCAT next week (Aug 24) and praying for the best, I'm trusting in GOD for an acceptance this year. Interviewed last year at UT-H and waitlisted, but looking forward to an acceptance 😛

So I really want to go to school in Texas but I haven't had the money to send in the app till now (sent in Amcas about a month ago but didn't have enough for Texas too)... I am also an OOS applicant...and my stats are on the lower end (3.5 gpa and 30 on mcat)....basically I am very discouraged from even bothering to apply now that it's so late...but I really would like to go to Texas.... Do you guys think it's worth it for me to apply? Help!!

I think it would ill-advised for you to submit an application this late. I was on the fence reading your post until I got to the part about you being an out-of-state applicant.

Your chances for admission into a Texas school are already low considering you're applying from OOS (which I'm sure you know). With it being this late in the process already (you likely wouldn't be processed until mid-September at the earliest) it would probably be better to wait until next year and apply extremely early. There is always a chance someone may decide to interview and accept you, but it would be a better use of money to put that cash in an envelope somewhere and wait until next year to use it when your chances are better.

No, sorry.

Anybody transmitted today?
I think stareleven and I should be the next, as our payment date is 7/12.
After the status is changed to "transmitted", which school may download the transmitted file the earliest?

I got transmitted on 7/06, but didnt get my LORs in until 7/20, and I got a call from TCOM on 7/21. Then it took about 16 days to hear from other schools.

when did you submit your secondary for TCOM?
thanks in advance 🙂

I got a call from TCOM today!! Transmitted 8/04, secondary submitted 8/16, and interview scheduled for 9/09. 🙂 Funny how the school I last submitted a secondary for is the first one to call/contact me. Lol.

Now waiting for all the other schools...:xf:

I've never shadowed a DO, much less have a letter from one. 😛 I may try to contact one around my university and ask to shadow them for a day before my interview though.

Hey all,

I have a couple questions... My TMDSAS was submitted on 8/3, payment received 8/6. It says my transcript was received on 8/9... but the section under "Transcript Through" is blank. Is there supposed to be something there?

Dumb question... my LOR was received, and it says 8/16/2010 Kendra Korshak. I'm assuming Kendra Korshak is the one who uploaded my LOR onto tmdsas right?? I'm worried they put another applicant's LOR on my application!! haha.

Last question for those who have interviewed... how long does it take for schools to send you an interview invite/rejection letter after getting your application?? I guess I'm freaking out because a few people at my school have already gotten interviews all over TX. I'm not too strong of an applicant so I'm anxious to have my application transmitted to schools... :xf:

DoctorPenguin, addo posted an example time line above:

"I got transmitted on 7/06, but didnt get my LORs in until 7/20, and I got a call from TCOM on 7/21. Then it took about 16 days to hear from other schools."

It took either (21-06) + 16 = 31 days or (21-20) + 16 = 17 days after the application had been verified/transmitted/LOR received. I hope it is 17 days for my case because my LOR was sent in a long time ago.

1) my transcript said the same thing and only recently got updated, so it changed when they finally "approve" your transcripts

2) I have NO idea when your transcript says a name that you didn't list - my names did not change - send them a message and ask 🙂

3)Can't help you on that one, sorry!

Mine also says Kendra Korshak, so no worries. And it depends... I got one interview approx 2 weeks after transmission, and the other after about 1.5 months. And here's to more waiting! 🙂

Good luck! 👍

Payment received 7/12...Transmitted 8/25...almost 7 weeks later. FINALLY!!!

Submitted 7/12
Transmitted yesterday 8/24

Do all the schools send emails to us when they receive our application or is it just UNT that's on the ball?

I have a "app complete/received" email from UTSW, UTMB, and UTSA. A&M technically tells you on their secondary website.

I have "complete" emails from UTSW, UTSA, PLF, and UTMB. Still waiting on A&M, Lubbock, and UTH.

How long is it taking to get the emails? I've had issues with my application nearly every step of the way so I'm hoping this will go through correctly

Just wanted to check in with you guys and let you know that my interview at San Antonio was great. Two 'juan-on-juan' interviews and very informal (def. not stress). Also, I would recommend staying at the Motel 6 because it is at the intersection of the main campus entrance (which from where you will be guided towards parking). Also, I just got my second interview at A&M: scheduled for Sept 16th. Wish me luck and all the best to you guys!

I forgot to mention that they were blind interviews (as in they only had our essays which we submitted to TMDSAS). g'luck!
