The committee watched in silence as kaydubs was brought before them. She was visibly weak, and her captors almost had to carry her into the room.
One of them spoke, “We know there was a plot to kill one of us last night, but nobody was attacked. And it just so happens that kaydubs fell ill on the same night. This is no coincidence!”
The newly elected leader of the committee, dyachei, strode to the window. There was a crowd gathering in the street. She turned to face kaydubs.
“What do you have to save for yourself?”
Kaydubs lifted her head slightly and addressed the committee in a hoarse whisper, “I do not know of any assassination plot. All I know is that I became very ill last night. I could barely move out of bed. Please, I beg you, don’t throw me out of the Free Zone. I am not a spy!”
“This is no defense!” her other captor said, “You are merely telling us things we already know. None of it means that you are not the spy we are looking for. Come on dyachei, this traitor has no business being in our community.”
Dyachei and the other members of the committee deliberated for a moment, but it was clear what the people wanted. Kaydubs was led outside, wrists bound and head hanging. She was shoved and taunted by the people on all sides, even those who she thought had become her friends. But someone in the crowd was not satisfied with a mere exile. Amidst all the shoving, kaydubs was injected with a deadly poison, and fell to the ground, dead.

You have lynched kaydubs. A full investigation will be needed to find out more about her, but the committee has other things to worry about. The autopsy can wait.

It is now Night 2. Please get your actions in ASAP. Night will close at 10:30pm EST if all goes well.

Touchpause13 decided to take a stroll in the night, contemplating her new life in Boulder and how different it was from everything she knew about normalcy. The bottle of pills shook in her pocket. But she hadn't taken one in ages. She just carried it with her, perhaps out of habit.

As she walked just outside the Free Zone’s unofficial borders, she came across a crow perched on the ground. It looked at her for a moment, before leaping into the air and clawing at her face. She fell back and felt strong hands grab her arms.

In the morning, Glen Bateman went out for a walk with his dog Kojak. The dog was more restless than usual, running ahead of Glen and then circling back. As they reached the border of the Free Zone, Kojak became more frantic. Finally he took off, leaving Glen behind. Glen followed the sound of Kojak’s harsh, booming barks around the outer wall of the community. He caught up to him 5 minutes later and for a moment didn’t notice anything amiss as he stopped and rested his back against a tree to catch his breath. After a moment he looked up, and discovered TP strung up on a shoddily crafted cross.

The committee determined this to be a high priority case, and the coroner immediately performed an autopsy. Touchpause13, the villager Rita Blakemoor, who could have sacrificed herself to bring someone back to life, is dead.

It is now Day 3. There is a murderer among the citizens of the Boulder Free Zone. It is time for you to find them.
