Last year it was early!!!??????

OK - can't let myself think of that - nice, calm, deep breaths. I've already told myself I won't find out until the 23rd. That gives me 3 whole days until I can start panicking. Thus I will panic potentially 8 days instead of 10 if I don't find out on the very first day.

Ahhh....the mind games we play with ourselves.

Seriously though - I just want to KNOW. Like NOW!!!!!! I've been trying not to obsess over it, but today I started to finally feel the butterflies. I've been so calm, cool, and collected for teh last 3 weeks (my intereview was on day 1) and suddeny today the little catepillars have hatched and are playing havoc on my insides.

I actually ate a butterfinger and creme filled cupcakes for dinner. Very unsual. I chalk it up to stress!

On the plus side I've started running again after ~ a year off, so I would say that have to deal with the waiting has had some good side effects. LOL...obviously trying to find the silver lining.
 
Maybe this is me trying to make other people feel as ****ty as I do right now (sick+finals=blerg), but they are picking the class today.

With each passing day since the interview I keep remembering really dumb things I said and things I forgot to say that I wish I'd said? Is this totally normal......

Agreed. But it's too late now, just go with what you got. Plus, everyone always feels like they sounded stupid and it didn't necessarily come across that way to the interviewers. Heck, I felt like I bombed my Illinois interview and I still got in. Keep up the hope, at least for a few more days.

Also, SQUEEEE! So excited we're getting one step closer to finding out!

Edit: OH, OH, question! At this point of picking the class, are they reviewing everyone's whole application over again, or just scoring the last interview points into the equation?

Arg...I didn't particularly like the picture I took. 🙄 Seems like I'm always unphotogenic when trying and then someone'll catch a candid of me that I'm like, wow, that's me? Awesome!

Yeah that. I could have gone my entire day without knowing this. Truly. I think almost threw up when I read that they are sitting around looking at pics.

Blah.....

I must be more nervous than I'm letting myself admit.

Must focus at work. Major crap happening today and I CANNOT just stare off into the distance like I have the last 3 weeks. Maybe I should staple my hand or something and let the pain focus me?

Except as you focused on the pain you would think "why did I do this to myself again" and it would lead you right back to that room where someone is deciding our fate 🙂 I'm soo glad I didn't check SDN today at work, or I really would have gotten nothing done too.

Quick question, were the decisions sent early as in before the predicted date range or early as in the first few days of when they said they would start telling people?

According to last years thread, they met on 3/16 and notices started going out on 3/17. But they went out in batches and many didn't receive anything until the following week (during the original dates). Please correct me 2014 if I'm off....
 
Nope you are right! I got my notice on the friday of finals (my undergrad was on the quarter system too)....which would be tomorrow, but people started hearing the day before...

3/19 at 3:40pm I was notified that I was waitlisted......then on 4/13 (before the decision deadline) I got a call and an email that I was IN!!!! They do send the emails out in batches, but I would check last years thread, because there seemed to be a theme of the batch order. =/

Also, since I am procrastinating, I thought that I would let everyone know to come to school with extra money to join clubs. This was an expense that we were never really told about, but all-in-all probably cost about $200 to join all the various clubs and such. I thought it would of been nice to know about the extra costs during the first couple of weeks, on top of moving and buying a laptop, etc, etc.

I think they said something about making sure your email address was updated because they do it by email followed by an official letter.

Do you know approx how many people they waitlist?

ETA: sorry guys, I still haven't learn to avail myself of the multi-quote feature. Ha.
 
Actually the email header gives no clue if it is acceptance or what. And then you open it and it has a little blurb. My admission email had a letter attached to it, they don't actually ever snail mail you anything, even once you accept your spot, you have a website that you can access everything through. =)

I think that they have somewhere between 20-30 on the waitlist, last year they overaccepted 10. So you have to wait for 10 people to decline before they pull from the waitlist.

You can call the admin office and they will tell you your position # and give you an idea of how deep into the waitlist they usually go. If I remember right they said anywhere from 6-18 people is their average....But of course each year is different.

Hmmm... interesting. I thought the point of the waitlist was that schools don't have to overaccept, they can just pull from the waitlist if they get denials.

So less than the 220 they initially said? That's an even better acceptance percentage!

Last year they sent the rejections out the first day (the 17th) and started with the admissions the next day (the 18th).

edit: also the email subject for mine was UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine - Admission

What did you mean by this?
 
I think she just meant that the rejections went first, then some acceptances, then it seemed like the waitlists on the same day, then more acceptances. (more just that the rejections & waitlists were clustered)
 
They must have just sent everything out mixed together cause I know someone that go their acceptance on the Friday of finals. I highly doubt they have a specific order. Hopefully you guys will hear starting tomorrow!
 
Ya, I got mine I think on the Thursday of finals week. Wednesday everyone who posted here got a rejection. I remember all of the rest of us being like :scared: "PLEASE NO EMAIL" that day, lol. Then Friday was mixed acceptances/waitlists IIRC.

Ahhhhh!!!!! I am going insane!!!!!!!!!!! It would be really really nice if they start sending tomorrow AND I get an e-mail tomorrow. Not so good if they start tomorrow and I don't get antyhing until next week......

EEEEKKKKK I can believe it's almost here!!!!!
 
Does anyone remember whether the first e-mails came during business hours or after?
 
... I am going crazy too. No amount of Facebook, SDN or any other past time (rofl) can keep me distracted : /
 
Thanks for the link moosenanny, I was looking for the archived thread earlier today and couldn't find it.... there seem to be a lot fewer potential 2015 Davis SDNers this year, or maybe it's just me. At least no one has heard bad news yet.
 
If there ARE less people than last year, then the small number of us are making it up in sheer numbers of posts!!!! Considering we are about the same number of pages as this time last year.... 🙂

All of a sudden I think I'm scheduled to have a power outage and come down with a case of sudden-onset blindness tomorrow. Y'know, just so I don't check my mail. :scared:

there is no way to know. It's up to them when they send things out and they have never done it the exact same way every year.

It's time to put on our grown-up panties and wait it out for our letters! :laugh: The decisions have been made and they WILL get to us!
