I know, just wanted to stir up a discussion. Make sure I'm not the only one FREAKING OUT.

Also, it really surprised me how many people rejected offers last year. I mean, who the heck wouldn't choose Davis if you're a Ca resident (which most of us are)??
 
Good point about the invite list. So do you know for sure how many there are of us????

And truthfully, it's quite a bit more fun NOT to pull up my big girl panties and for once in my life let myself freak out a bit..... 🙂

I can't keep refreshing this thread all night... it's unhealthy... time to call up some friends and get ready for for an Irish carbomb and overpriced green beer or two.. somehow this has become the sane option for the night.
 
Ummm...not to go all negative, but we have to get through Friday before the weekend!!!!!! Any bets what will be harder? Friday or the weekend? Or 5pm on Monday when there's no e-mail in my inbox. EEEEEEPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

A milk shake sounds really good right now. MMmmm....milk shake. My ultimate comfort food. Or is it cookie dough. Mmm...tough choice - milk shake or cookie dough?

Good thing I don't have internet at home or a smart phone (except my work crackberry that I don't dare refresh SDN on all night), so when I go home in, oh about 5 minutes, there's no way I can continue to obsess about this all night. Right????????? LOL.
 
First post to SDN to say hi. Not much of a techie so please bear with me! 😳

Like all of the Davis-hopeful, I am anxious awaiting for the announcement. Davis is my IS and first choice. Had my interview on 3/23 and I've decided that waiting for the outcome is far worse than preparing for it!

Now back to lurkdom....

I hope you had your interview on FEB 23. 😛 I agree that waiting for this is FAR better than some of the earlier moments -- such as the few minutes just before for the interview!!

I am taking the 'no news is good news' approach. The rejection letters seemed to be sent out first last year. Of course, that might be my wishful thinking!

I just want to say that finding SDN has been great, and getting to "know" you here has been awesome - if really does make this whole process easier knowing that there are people out there EXACTLY going through what I'm going through.

I'm really hoping we ALL get to know eachother as classmates this fall.

I didn't find SDN until right after I got my interview invite and so went through the whole admission thing alone and all the prep alone. It wasn't nearly as much fun as right now, when I have people to share in my anxiety. 🙂

I'm sure things are going to get hectic in the next week and so wanted to make sure I thanked all you guys before I spend either an entire week screaming with joy, or sobbing with dissapointment. 🙂

Not a dork - we've all done it at some point! 🙂

I'm still working on one last prerequisite, so for me, no news is DEFINITELY good news. (I can't remember whether I read this in this year's thread or last year's: anyone who is accepted with prerequisites in progress gets an edited version of the letter, and they tend to leave the hand-edits for later. If that's so, then an early letter for me would be a NO! 😱)

I hear you! Didn't know about SDN until the Interview Orientation. By then I only had Davis left for the process. I love the camaraderie here. Let's hope we'd celebrate together!
 
I'm gonna go out on a limb and make a guess that they decided to wait until Monday to start emailing....just a guess.😕

:wow:! A class and a full-time job? 👍 :bow: You are definitely ready for vet school! :laugh: I believe the letter of acceptance was delayed last year for those who were finishing their pre-requisites.

Realistically, I think Monday is Da Date.

😳 Oh gosh no -- I did overlap classes and full-time work early on, but I finally bailed on the previous career. Now I have only two part-time jobs, one of which is VERY part time. And at the end of next week (finals week) I'll be only a part-time student as well (doing that one last prerequisite)!

I think a lot of folks will hear Monday. If I'm lucky I'll be on pins and needles a little while longer 'cause of this pesky genetics course!:xf:

Deep breaths, everybody. Let's try to enjoy this weekend! I'm gonna drink to the idea of everyone here meeting each other as classmates in August! :xf:

That was the rumor last year, and it seemed to hold true for me personally.
 
Raptor lover - did I meet you at the the interview orientation? (had a converstation about Allen Fish and the GGRC?)

I believe we had a conversation in the parking lot about where we could park that day....I sat across the aisle from you in the morning session, next to Tiger.

Were you at the interview orientation? The three of us were chatting at various points that day. If you were there, any or all of us could have met you and we just haven't put it all together yet.

Maybe that smilie is for people quoting Harry Chapin's song (thirty thousand pounds of bananas)... OK, I'm stretching a lot for that one!
 
I was at the interview orientation so maybe we did meet, but I don't think I talked to anyone about SDN that day. I got there just as Dr. LeFabvre started talking and was on the right side back, and moved forward to the middle of the right side after lunch.

I wouldn't say "delayed". The acceptances dribbled out over 4 days (of course Nyanko heard first). I had pre-reqs to finish and heard 3 days after Nyanko.

I'm also finishing prereqs (Physiology and Genetics), so now I'm hoping I DON'T get an e-mail on Monday...

I'm sorry that you guys have to wait over this weekend before you hear anything, but hopefully it will be a nice break from constantly refreshing your email inboxes! Try to relax and go about your normal lives (I know, easy for me to say, right?).

Not sure if everyone knows this, but the UC Davis staff do read our posts. Although I am just speculating, I do know that terror broke out last year when notices were sent early and a lot of people were super stressed over the weekend. Maybe they took pity on us and decided to send when they said they would so no one would have to struggle as much through the weekend?

Who knows. I'm excited this weekend is finally here. I'm ready for the decisions to go out! 2nd year is the charm?? :xf:

I, for one, hope they don't make important decisions based on sdn, including when notices are sent out 🙂!

waiting is hard but I'm also appreciating the wait. There aren't many times in my life I will be able to experience this type of enormous expectation and it's interesting. Have been having some VERY weird dreams. Lol. Plus, if I AM getting a rejection, for these last couple days I get to pretend going to vet school this fall is reality!

This must be even more difficult for you since Davis was your only app. (not to make you even more nervous) I truly hope you get in! And I second the whole thing about this being one of the few experiences of intense anticipation in my life.

If they're doing rejections the same way as last year, I don't wanna hear anything until Tuesday.

Did you interview last year or got rejected prior to that? I didn't meet anyone at the workshop that had actually gotten through the interview and then got rejected. I know it happens, though. Perhaps those folks that do have a back-up and don't have to apply a 2nd time...?
 
So I was talking to a friend of mine today, who was a UCD undergrad, and has friends who are pre-vet at UCD, and she said that some of them have gotten rejections "over the last couple of weeks." I asked if they had interviewed or not, and she said both, so I'm not sure what to make of that... It seems odd to get a rejection w/o interview so late in the process, but it also seems odd to a get a rejection so early, having interviewed. So, I guess once again, no news is good news?

That is very odd (but in a good way, I guess) especially the Letter stated that 'Accepted and non-accepted applicants will be notified of admission decisions via email beginning the week of March 21.' Perhaps her friends weren't selected for interview at all? Rejection from a different school? Dual Degree applicants? 😕😕😕
 
I was an undergrad at UCD and last year one of my friends had an interview and was rejected 🙁 It certainly didn't lift my confidence remembering that recently. Also, something doesnt seem right about rejections over the last two weeks. It kind of gets my hopes up though...

Agreed. It didn't make sense to me either, but that's what she said. Maybe her timeline was off - who knows...
 
An exercise in futility to speculate at this point. We all did the best we could to prepare and present ourselves for the admission process. It is out of our control now so just relax and enjoy the weekend. 🙂

Actually do a good job this weekend just enjoying life. I'm surprised. I would have thought with the rain outside I would have gone stir crazy-but so far not bad. Was in rei most of the day helping my mom select a backpacking pack. It was fun and got my mind off o everything. I managed to get away with just a couple of sock liners and other miscellaneous stiff that didn't hit the pocket book too hard 🙂. What are you'all doing?

Worked all day yesterday and had to deal with a client from hades. Quite literally. Fortunately, her cat was perfectly sane even though she promised us that it would eat us alive if we forced her to bring the animal in for an exam in order to fill medication. 🙂

Today is going to involve taking hubby to the airport, playing with the pony, and hoping I don't have to buy a boat if it keeps raining. Harry Potter Marathon on ABC. WOOT!

Workin' at the clinic (oh BOY did I need a shower after yesterday) and studying genetics! Maybe if I'm full of energy I'll get a couple of loaves of banana bread in the oven this morning. Those bananas have Got To Go. 🙂
