According to another SDN UCLA thread (from a couple days back), 3 SDNers (already in debt, exmike, and brickhouse?) were sent a "final decision letter" on 2/9/04. They each did not receive a secondary....

Something to think about?

ok dont freak out those people who are already freaking out. it just means that they are starting to send out final decisions. it doesnt imply anything about what those decisions may be.

Has anyone tried calling UCLA today to find out if they will tell us what the decisions are?

Wow. This really was a mass mailing. There will be a lot of people stalking the mailmen. Remember, they carry pepper spray . . .

does anyone know if ucla still claims to send out acceptances on the 15th of everyone month? Could we have all gotten in? I'm prayin...

Hey guys, I inteviewed towards the end of January and my final decision status is blank... is anyone else in my boat? For the guys with a letter sent, when did you interview? Good luck with those letters!

i interviewed on January 22nd...

Hey stressedout!

I interviewed on January 22nd as well. Which person were you? I was the guy from NYU! 😉

hey!

i was the short girl with curly brown hair and pin-striped suit who
went to ucla for undergrad. does that ring a bell?? i remember you! hope we hear some good news 🙂

Don't you just love when you realize that you met one of your SDN friends and didn't even know it? It's a pleasant suprise!

hhmmm I'm not so comfortable with the fact that I might be receiving this "final decision" (whatever it may be) on Friday the 13th.... I'm not a superstitious but I need all the help I can get :scared:

Well, since Harps is getting the "letter" as well, I'm guessing it's an acceptance letter to all of you. Sweetness~

Thank you! But this time, I may not get good news. My only interviewer told me that my MCATs were only slightly above UCLA average and this may pose a difficulty during committee meetings...he offered this information without my solicitation🙂 I am hoping for a waitlist and dreading a rejection. I am sending some prayers to all of you SDNers waiting. Good luck and stay positive. Oh yeah, Kwanny I wish you truly get a straight acceptance!

Sincerely,
Harps

Why would having MCATs slightly above the average make it a tough sell? I understand why it wouldn't be help your application, but it seems strange that it could hurt your application even though they're still *above* the average.

Jlee,

I can't believe you already have a final decision letter sent--didn't you just interview like two weeks ago? Well maybe, after the interviewer called you he was so confident that you'd be great at UCLA, that your file was immediately up for review.

Good luck everyone, I have my fingers crossed.

Seriously, I think the mass-mailing is a mixture of acceptances and waitlist (As I mentioned before). It's not likely that all of us got accepted (OR waitlisted). Don't over-interpret the date of the final decision letters.

I know of one of my friends who interviewed in Mid-January or so, and the decision letter was also mailed.

Holy ****! Mine was mailed yesterday too! I take a 24 hour break from SDN and this is what I miss!

Wait so does everyone's status page (post-interview) say this???

interviewed on the 27th of jan. he did say when he called he was talking about my file to some of his colleagues...(i guess that means the adcom?)

the decision seems to have been made so quick im worried. thanks for the vote of confidence snow.

Apparently almost everyone is, except a few people who posted here

Last year the first waitlists was given 4/19. (I did a search for UCLA, acceptance, interview) Do a different search and you might be able to find the UCLA thread and see what happened last year around this date. Good luck guys.

SOme people got accepted to schools like the day after their interview...yep it's that quick.

I always doubt the actual review process post-interview takes very long. It's just that the committee doesn't meet every single day, and obviously doesn't review all the files at once.

Okay guys, now i am seriously freaking out. My letter was sent out yesterday. The term final decision has a very troubling sound to it. Men, i am about to leave work early to go stalk my mailman. Thanks SDN:scared:

Still no status update:

Cell is still blank next to Final Decision.

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone.

Interviewed Nov. 6th.

When I was interviewing at another Cali school, a MS1 told me how UCLA's so slow that her friend interviewed in October the last application year and heard back (Acceptance) in March or April.

No decision just means they wanna review your file again before a decision, which is when you think about it, a good thing.

I wish all of my awesome SDN colleagues the best of luck on this decision! I'm rooting for you!!

Has anyone gotten up the gonads to call UCLA and ask what is going on? I'm too chicken-$hit to do it. I have this feeling that if I call, they will ask me for my AMCAS ID and then yell back, "stop calling, you are the weakest link, GOODBYE!" ... click.... ... 😱 😉 🙄

No decision might also mean that they haven't reviewed your file yet.

actually i would say that gonads are inversely related to bravery or strength. i mean arent they responsible for some of the most stupid things that humans have ever done in their weakest moments?

You're right! I confirmed that just a second ago. I called and they said that my file was still underreview (for better or worse). I will post at a later time/date if my status changes.

Good luck to the rest of you. Maybe some others that have had a Final Decision Status Change could work up some courage to call and find out what their real status is.

Actually I meant to say gonads on purpose. They refer to the non-genderized bravery in all males and females, and even hermaphrodites. Some of the more braver things have been done without thinking (i.e. knee jerk reaction). However, I will secede that quite a lot of stupidity has been done in the name of gonads as well.

Just a saying.

Blah! My "final decision" was mailed yesterday but no sign of it in today's mail. Looks like the suspense continues.... :scared:
If anyone gets theirs today, be sure to post it! Good luck everyone!

i called... they will not tell you the decision over the phone...

also... yeah i think the letters are both acceptances and rejections... because most schools do not put a waitlist together until they are done accepting people.... which is like in april or may

I want to wish everyone the best of luck! We can just keep each other company in the short (but seemingly long) wait. When I asked my student host about the orientation he had, he said that the first years went to Catalina and went snorkeling! That is the hotness! 😀

ugh, if mine is not a waitlist, then its a rejection. my interview was horrible. i'm prepared for the rejection anyway.

One day away from SDN, and all this happens. My letter was sent yesterday too. I really hope its good news for all of us. So whats the soonest that we'd get these letter in nor cal? I am getting not just butterflies but big bugs in my tummy 🙂

I hate to say this, but the mails from UCLA may take a while to get to their final destinations. There was about a 4-5 day period between the time I was invited for an interview on the online status check and the time I received the actual interview letter. I'm from the LA area, and I probably wouldn't expect my letter to come until next Wednesday or Thursday. The online status page says to give 5 business working days. But of course, I can't wait to find out. AHHHH!!

Hmmmm, yeah it should take awhile for them to reach Nor Cal, but as soon as one does, you'll find out. SDN is very helpful for dealing with this anxiety.

In reading last year's thread out of neurotic OCD'ness, I came to a couple of generalizations.

1.)UCLA sends out batches of letters that are combined with acceptances, waitlists and a few rejections.

2.)This thread will reach ~35pages long by the end of this application year. Talk about crazy.

I called back again, being the neurotic person that I am, and asked for them to elaborate on what 'underreview' means.

The lady said that specifically for my file, I was under a comparative review as we speak, i.e. people are in there ranking our apps together to see where we fall in this crazy spectrum of applicants.

New revelations??? Nope, still waiting. And I didn't save more money going with Geico. 😛 😀

Aww, a few rejections among the batch?? I thought that the letters in the first or second batch are usually acceptances or waitlists.

I think it will be a combination of acceptances and waitlists....your interview has to go REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BAD for you to get rejected by UCLA post interview....like I said, if you are waitlisted, hope for the 1st priority waitlist and not the 2nd or "Hold" because the second one is pretty much a rejection....good luck everyone!!!

i called and the lady said "we sent out acceptances, rejections, waitlists, holds...everything."

hope that helps. good luck.

that is true about ucla mail taking a long time. my invite in the mail came 10 days after what it said on the website. and with my faith in knowing ucla will be slow...i can enjoy the weekend.

Making a prediction now? That's silly especially when the actual letter will arrive soon! Go play Star Wars KOTOR instead 😉
