i was actually thinking that a bigger envelope is less likely to get lost in the shuffles and tends to look more important and costs more so they are more likely to take better care of it, etc. this however is a pointless train of thought i can't take waiting anymore this is hell.
 
this is really getting ridiculous.... its been a week... how could it take so long for a letter to be mailed....

why can't UCLA just email us or something... this is such a stupid system..... can we complain to someone-somewhere-somehow???
 
But the acceptance letter may not be in a big envelope, which means it may travel at the same rate as other letters through the gel.

How many pages long do you think this thread is going to get before people start receiving letters? I'm guessing lucky 13.

prolly not. as long as they fill up the class by mid march i dont think any complaints on slow their system is will register.
 
I got the decision letter today! (I live around UCLA Campus)

It's an acceptance and I almost cried in front of the postman!

Anyways, it's a thin envelope, just a one page letter, so don't freak out about it if you also get one.

Congrats, Calbee! Is Columbia ur top choice still though? I'd choose UCLA over Columbia or Cornell, if i get accepted, that is. 😉

Nothing for me today! 🙁 Does anyone know when I should expect to receive the letter if it is going to NY (40 mins away from NYC)? This waiting is killing me. This could be my first acceptance! Here's to hoping. Good luck everyone and may we all get good news! 😀

Thanks, guys! I don't quite believe it since I had it sent to my home address in LA, and my mom got it and called me so I didn't actually *see* my letter. I'm rooting for the rest of you!
 
UCLA requires you to write a "Letter of acceptance" to hold a place in the class. Supposedly you have to do that within two weeks.

I'll choose UCLA over Vandy. I just feel that location is a really important factor for me at this stage.

As for hearing back from other schools...I think I'll go back to each school's second look weekend and decide after that (If they have second look weekends).

As for me, they still haven't given me an interview and I don't think they ever will. I didn't want to go there anyway...
 
At this point, I'll choose UCLA over Vandy, but if accepted, I may choose Northwestern, Emory, or Columbia over UCLA.

Many people wanna stay in California because their families are here and they wanna do residency and practice here. It's a bit different for me, I've been in California for almost 7 years now, and I think it'll be more beneficial for me to spend the next 4-5 years in a different place, to get a different experience.

Nevertheless, UCLA IS my top choice.

As for the letter I got, it's dated Feb 12, and I threw away the envelope so I don't know the postmark date. It didn't really mention anything beside mailing back a "Letter of Acceptance" to hold a spot in class, and to attend a mandatory orientation in early August. Nothing about Second Look Weekend (Do they even have one??)

unfortunately i dont think i will be joining you guys at ucla since i was placed on the immovable waitlist.

man an overall crappy day...i could have guessed this would happen.

Well officially I haven't been rejected yet but I haven't received an interview.

I am sorry to hear that Jlee got waitlisted. I have a feeling I am going to end up in the same boat...that is when i get the letter.

Haha...If I go back to UCLA for med school, I'll live FAR away from Westwood. It costs too much to live around campus.

And the 405 and the 10, at least they're FREE parking garage, looking at the toll New Yorkers have to pay for their freeways 😉

From what I heard, the waitlist will eventually become two tiers (JLee, you said it's unranked now). Tier 1 will have a high chance of eventually getting in, while tier 2 will probably have zero chance.

Congrats to Calbee, this seems to be a good day for us internationals. You certainly deserve the acceptance and i hope to see you in my class in the fall.

Sorry about your situation Jlee, for all it is worth you are still an inspiration to us all👍
