Got the rejection today, letter sent 2/9/04!

Sorry about that. Was it post-interview?

Also scary is that if it was sent on 2-9-04 and received today, possibly the others will received their Final Letters soon as well.

I'm in Orange County, not 1 hour from L.A.

Come on, remember? You were going to make the sweep of the UCs and after you made your choice, I was going to pick up the crumbs... stick to the plan. I'll tell you exactly when to withdraw from UCI  My interview is on Tuesday, so I'll post the "Ok, you can withdraw now" thread sometime after that.

anyone know if they're sending out post-secondary pre-inerview rejections as well? anyone? anyone?

yeah i think there have been a couple on the thread that have recently.

DrJ2B-rejection or waitlist (my first post-interview decision 🙁 )

That is my predication! I hope it does not come true but I have to be realistic. I thought my interview went well. I just could not read my interviewer well. 🙁

Ok I am seriously on crack! I meant prediction not predication! 😛

No letter as of today...

And I live around the UCLA Campus area...so I guess it won't come until Tuesday or so (Monday's a public holiday right?)

Hey Guys!

For everyone that has a date next to their final decision letter on UCLA's status page, I wore my UCLA sweatshirt as a good luck charm for all of you today.

Keep us posted!

I don't know what to make of the fact that they haven't sent my final decision yet. It seems like the vast majority of SDNers that have interviewed (even like 2 weeks ago), have a final decision coming their way.

thanks for the love.

ucla has 6 committees that review files. some are slower than others. so dont worry too much for now.

Hey my nerve-wrecked SDNers! Hang in there guys...I'm sure good news is on its' way (hopefully). Well, I'll be calling up one of my undergrad buddies (he's a UCLA med student) tomorrow to ask some questions about the UCLA med application process. He is on the admissions committee and will know what's been goin' on over there very well. Anything y'all want me to ask him? Just let me know.

Good Luck! Goooo Bruins!!

like jlee said, there are diff committees. when i called...

me, "so did everyone get a letter?"

her, "no, only those files that the committee returned. we dont go in any order."

Well I suppose that would explain why mine is still under review, considering that I interviewed back in Nov.

Thanks for the info jlee

I am not sure about the MCAT average, Jlee. My interviewer specifically mentioned 33 as the average. Hmmm...

hope that helps. good luck.

Should a waitlist or hold really be condsidered a final decision letter. Well, i guess i am just trying to give myself hope:scared:

Cause the letters "U.S." are in UsNews. You gotta trust everything from the U.S. 😉 OK silly me, I just woke up from a nap that's all

Is there any hope for someone who hasn't been invited to interview this late in the game? I think I'm just waiting for a rejection letter now and boy are they taking their time. It's not nice to let us keep our hopes up for that long.

What is the latest anyone knows of getting an interview invite?

Today might be D-day for some of us UCLA hopefuls
Be sure to post your FINAL DECISION responses.👍

On last year's thread (gosh, I'm getting obsessive) a waitlist/hold letter counted as a final decision letter. If people were subsequently accepted from the waitlist, they had their "letter sent" dates updated with the new date the second letter was sent.

I'm really wishing now that I hadn't checked my UCLA status page. I don't understand why it should take so long for mail to travel from UCLA to my home in Los Angeles...I received my interview date the day after they sent it.

My best bet is that the final decision letters won't get to our homes until around Wednesday or Thursday of this week at the earliest (speaking as SoCal people). The letters are just really really slow, one of my letters, which had to do with turning in secondary, had nearly a week difference between the date on the letter and the postmark date.

did anyone get final decision letters from UCLA in the mail today? it's so slow!

I wish at least they will call those have been accepted.... I guess they would rather make you wait and get insane before you get your "good" "bad" and "more wait" news in the dame slow mail.😴 :meanie: 😕

still too early for the mail to come here...and esp. after a holiday...im not even bother checking before i leave for work

they are so tight lipped, they wont release anything over the phone. i live in NY............that letter would get here faster if somebody ran it over!

I can't get my mail until 11:00 pm..... 🙁

I hope you guys have good news!

-Harps

Just checked my mail. Nothing from LA yet. 😴 :meanie:

It only makes sense that everyone that was mailed a letter find out the results when they receive the letter.

I.E. What if the status changed to say final letter sent, then minutes later those accepted were the only ones called. It would kind of suck for those that know they got sent a final decision but didn't get the call. Just be patient...

... ... oh what the hell am I saying... give me a damn call to let me know what is going on with my app already!!! ... oh sorry... I'm better now...

Who knows the esoteric ways of UCLA admissions. Maybe when your accepted, they reveal to you some absolute truth about the universe.

I live right next to the UCLA campus, no decision letter today.😡

Does anyone know if UCLA acceptance letters come in big or small envelopes? I'm anticipating a letter to be in my mailbox when I'm not at home during the weekday this week. If acceptances (and waitlists) do come in as small envelopes, I'd like to able to tell my parents that so that they don't freak out.

I'm betting that at this time now, the letters have either just made their way out of the notoriously slow campus mail or are getting close to there. After that, we should be expecting the letters to come any day.

Hey all,

I had a "final decision letter sent" posted on the 9th of february. I received the letter yesterday and it was posmarked the 12th of February. So it looks like there is a three business day lapse between when it says the letter is sent and when it is actually sent. Sooo...it seems that pretty much all the post-interview letters were "sent" on February 13th. If you add 3 working mailing days to that it should mean the letters will be sent today, February 18th. Just a thought.

*To note I was rejected pre-secondary. I think all letters sent on the 9th were for that group.

Most, if not all, of the letters we mentioned were sent on Feb 12...if Saturday's count as a working day (It is half a working day for the post office), then the letters should be postmarked yesterday!

has anyone gotten a letter today?
people in LA MUST have gotten letters by today right?

doubtful...
if calbe's calculations are correct and it was postmarked yesterday...maybe by this weekend?

does anyone know why ucla's mail is so slow? do they have some special system? a friend sent me a letter from another school in california the day after ucla sent me a letter and it got to me on the east coast yesterday! maybe the envelope is so huge that they can't deliver it. it's driving me to drink.

Many UCLA departments do this: They put all the mails in a slot, so the mails will get stamped and charged to the department in a different place on campus. That's the step that takes the most time. The letters are not really "mailed" until this step is completed.

would a big envelope travel faster or a small envelope?

there are so many factors to consider 😕

Have you ever run an agarose gel? Smaller molecules travel faster than bigger ones! So yea, the reason that no one has received anything is because we ALL get big ones...lol 😀

Cheers. I'm getting way too worked up over this, and if I just stay in a drunk stupor for the next few days, the news from UCLA has to arrive by the time I'm sober, right?

I think I should stop obsessing for any bits of news on SDN, too, but it's so hard. Speaking of which, Calbee, have you gotten your mail for today already? 😀
