Ok Gmail I hate you. The number turns and I'm like OMG! Yeah!

And then it turns out to be a myspace email saying someone commented on a photo comment I left. So I click on it and it's a photo of someone in a halloween costume dressed up like pimp daddy showing off his hairy chest LOL

So basically if we haven't received the email, we are waitlisted or rejected right? Somebody already got their Tucson email and they are all sent out at the exact same time if I remember correctly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Yes, that is right...don't assume rejection. Just wait for the waitlist that will be coming out in early March.

that is what i thought, but i hope not

For the other release dates, several people reported getting their email at 9:30. But def have an empty inbox... so hopefully we still have 8 minutes!!!!! good luck everyone...

And Brooo congrats!

I don't know. I love the small, professional feel of Phoenix, but I'm nervous about if/how the economy and budget cuts will affect its growth and the resources available to students. Maybe it won't, I don't know. I think 5-10 years down the road I would take Phoenix for sure, but considering the great reputation and foundation Tucson has, I suppose I am (reluctantly) leaning toward that campus.

I have similar feelings. Although I was only accepted to Tucson, so I do not need to make the choice. However, for family and financial reasons like having to sell my house in this horrible market and uproot my family, I would probably have chosen Phoenix had I been accepted there so as to avoid having to do that. But as far as my preference, I lean toward Tucson.

And congratulations!!!

Can anyone correct this? PLEASE?

Just talked to Phx. Last batch of acceptances is going out "sometime today". Waitlists will be sent out in the "next couple of weeks" and "not sure if you will be told your position on the waitlist." hope that helps!

Acceptance letter sent at 9:04, Tucson campus. My head is spinning.

Best of luck to everyone!

Now.. somebody call Tucson. lol. Find out anything.. something.. something that can help me be optimistic.

Can anyone correct this? PLEASE?
Well, in the batch that came out at the end of January I got my Tucson acceptance at 9:05. But someone else I know got one at 9:15ish (based on email timestamps). So I am wondering if their system sends them in stages to avoid bandwidth overload...or something like that. With a presumably larger acceptance batch, something like that may make sense. Dunno.

I got into Tucson!! this is my first acceptance, i'm so excited!

Congrats frontalRelease!!

I've been watching for Phx, but also following this thread. I had butterflies for everyone this morning. And if things didn't go well today, here's to the waitlist!

I just called Tucson's admissions: all acceptances have been sent out 👎

Hey guys, just wanted to give you all some reason for hope I just opened my tucson acceptance email and if I am able to get in then there's no reason that any of you cant hang in there!

class of 2013 damn it feels good saying that 😀

Got my acceptance from Phoenix today. The time on the email was 9:33 AM. I also have an acceptance to Tucson (from the last round). I will be choosing the Phoenix campus.

For those of you who haven't heard any news yet, keep this in mind: There plenty of people out there like me who will need to choose between one campus or the other, so some spots are likely to be opening up soon. And don't forget that last year Tucson had to go into the 60's on their waitlist.

Don't let a rejection deter you either. If you really want to practice medicine, get back out there and make your application even better for reapplication time.

Best of luck to every one.

let down once again...

Hey, you've been working all night. Get some sleep now. Tomorrow is a new day. To those who got in, you all worked hard and you should have the best celebration tonight.

9:40 - Phoenix Acceptance 🙂

Best of luck to everyone. I think they are doing phoenix 930 - 10

nothing here, but congratulations everyone who did get an email!

Congrats again to everyone who got good news today. 🙂

Regna, I'm in the same boat as you with house and fam in phx. No Phx email for me, so I guess we're (very happily) moving to Tucson!

So how many people will be rejected, and how many will make the waitlist? You guys think they've already figured this out, but they're just waiting to reveal our fates?

When I called today she said that the committee is meeting in the next few weeks to choose the waitlist. She didn't know when it would come out, just that it would be before the middle of March.

Does anyone know if the rumor of sending out approximately 70 acceptances today (and thus having a smaller waitlist due to people being accepted earlier) was true?

Also, I noticed that a few people have been accepted to Phoenix around 9:30-9:40am this morning. Have all the Phoenix acceptances been sent out?

Just wondering in case anyone had already asked the admissions office these questions.

Congrats to those accepted! I am disappointed to not have heard anything yet, but I am really happy for those of you who got in.

I just called Phoenix and she said that they did send out a round of acceptances today. She also said that more acceptances will be sent out as people decide not to attend the PHX campus.

hey everyone--

even though i've been accepted to the UofA COM, i just wanted to say that i know how it feels not to be accepted--it's all fine in the end. Keep in mind that life is not about getting into med school...be grateful for what you have and patient for what you don't...things will fall into place at the end of the day. what is important is that you maintain your sanity...after all, this whole process can be nerve-wrecking!!!!! 😱:boom:

accepted to Tucson!!! if i can do it with <30 mcat, so can you!! 🙂

I always thought that my saving grace would be the MCAT.....But apparently it's not. Rejection sucks 🙁

Yay... several more weeks of waiting to get rejected! Woohoo.. I'm probably going to have to reapply, spend thousands of more dollars, have student loans come due, and waste the next year doing some bull**** filler job.... Yay! Although, I could "learn" about myself in the next year, it doesn't mean **** because life does not really start until I enter med school. Until then, all the stuff I do is just "resume boasting" Eh... This system is so bull**** it hurts. Oh well! At least I gave tons of other schools "donations" for this cycle.

So how many people will be rejected, and how many will make the waitlist? You guys think they've already figured this out, but they're just waiting to reveal our fates?

Last year they put a full class on the wait-list and did go through 60 spots on the list. I don't know but that is even worse than waiting for emails is waiting for the wait-list to move. UofA does release what number position you are and they do tell you where they are on the list. Knowing that you are in the thirties or forties and they are on number 7 is rough. So don't give up until you know for sure. Who knows maybe you will be on the wait-list and then get in, half our class did that! But they may not go as high in to the list with the rolling admissions compared to our single release date. Hang in there! Even if the waiting makes you feel like this. :poke: or :bang:

And while it is easy to become mad if you dont get in, it is just the way the universe unfolds. For there is nothing more mysterious than med school admissions. And if you were really dedicated and interesting in going to medical school, than you would do anything to make it happen. Like reapplying. And when they ask about you reapplying in the interviews, then you say thats how bad I want to become a physician. Whats another year in the grand scheme of things. And if you are still mad about it, then maybe one should rethink what made them apply for medical school. I also highly suggest using Tanisha to review your file, and see what things seem strange or out of place to her. She can really help you with if your LOR's work for you, personal statement thoughts, etc. She has seen a few applications and maybe can spot some potential problems.

I will definitely reapply, as my heart is in medicine and there isn't really much you can do with a B.S. or M.S. Yeah the Med school admissions process is mysterious... And why not? That way it's much easier for people to give friends, allies and insiders a leg up, and thus abuse the system. It's impossible for me to believe that the med admissions process is entirely a level playing field. I'm sure that those people whose parents are doctors or family that is associated with ppl on some of these boards are living easy. I personally know someone whose parents donated a ton to their state school and like magic their daughter got off the waitlist. Hmm, luck, or fowl play? Maybe in the next year I should just become friends with a person in the admissions committee, seems like a better idea. Or... maybe they should make the admissions process more visible, and a better weeding out process than "well try again next year".... Maybe the requirements should be a little more than a few bs science classes and 1 standardized test. If I was in the place I was at now, I should have done a business major. That way, I could have a degree that would get me a reliable job, taken the easy route, and did the minor inconvience of med school prereqs in my free time.

For me, another year in the grand scheme of things is $$$$$$. I wonder how much tuition will go up for the 2014 class. With so much cutting in funding due to the economy, I wouldn't be surprised to get gutted by the university every passing year.

Well, I am just venting because of frustration, but whatever! I'll get in somewhere.... (then the whole bs process of getting a residency starts...) Gotta love this world of "don't hate the player, hate the game"... The game sucks, and we should fix it.

In an email from Tanisha (Tucson campus admissions) answering one of my questions she mentioned something about sending information re: Second Look after the last round of acceptances are sent "next week"...I don't mean to toy with emotions but she used the term "next week" and today is monday (when all the acceptances were sent out) so I took this to mean that maybe they are sending out another round next week? I cannot confirm this is true, I just took the literal meaning from her email, and thought you all may want a heads up.

You know, you really have to realize that that is how life is. While there is amazing social mobility in this country, a lot of success still depends on who you know and who your parents are.

Having said that, though, there is also amazing opportunity for the people who come from nothing, are first time college grads in their family, etc. The problem with applying to medical school is that so many people have the qualifications, truly. We are type A's and are used to getting what we want, but sometimes we just have take a step back.

I don't know about you all, but I just spent hours thinking about my life since I was 15 and what I could have done differently. It's funny, but hindsight really is 20/20. But here I am now and I can't change the past. Now what should I do? Reapplying is hard, especially if you have to support yourself. I work at one of the ++++iest jobs I know. I hate every minute of it. It allowed me time to do volunteering, and that is why I stayed. But now, I'm very deflated. I may give up. Luckily, time does heal all wounds.

Okay, I have to get back to what my life will be like if I go Carib.

I heard first hand from Tanisha that the next thing due is the waitlist.

Does anybody know when the waitlist from Tucson and Phoenix are expected to be released?

Okay, I have to get back to what my life will be like if I go Carib.

You know the Carib route got discussed quite a bit in this thread as an alternative. I know we all have our reserves, as I will be going DO if I don't get off the waitlist. However, I think you should seriously consider the implications of going off shore for school. Check these threads out...

Congratulations to those who got accepted. Its been a long journey and I wish you all the best!👍

She said the same thing to me when I called today.

Does anybody know when the waitlist from Tucson and Phoenix are expected to be released?

When I called Tucson today she didn't have an exact date, all she said was before the middle of March.

Well I'm choosing Phx over Tucson, so there's a spot open for those of you wanting to stay in T-town
