You must feel proud to get in with those odds. Congrats.
You must feel proud to get in with those odds. Congrats.
Personally, I applied to 12 schools - been rejected by 4, withdrew from 3 (after receiving their secondaries), and have interviewed only here and will in New York in April. I was born and raised in Phoenix and figure I have my whole life to live somewhere else if I want. But with the economy and my less than perfect application, I figured UA was my best chance. And hopefully I'll be on the waitlist, but I'm not holding my breath for an acceptance so I'm getting ready to reapply next year. 🙁
I applied to 18 schools. withdrew from 3, rejected by 8. I "technically" have 5 schools out there (silent rejections), and 1 more interview in April in NY also!
Good luck to you lovemed04, maybe you will get into the same school I do, and we can say adios Arizona and hello to high tuition!
Where in NY are both of you interviewing?!?! I interviewed at NYMC in October and was accepted the day before Thanksgiving.. I had something to be thankful for! If it is the same school, I think you will love it. The people are nice, it's definitely different than AZ but it's not that bad so be thankful you have an interview! Maybe all 3 of us will be moving to NY!

Yup I have an interview at NYMC in April! Pretty late in the game, so I was initially very worried about that but I heard that some people have gotten immediate acceptances after late interviews at that school. I'm super stoked about the interview but I obviously would jump for joy for an acceptance off the WL at UA!! Good luck to all of us!
Same here.... it would be best to be in state, but i guess this game isn't over yet. It's not over till orientation! I know someone who got the word from UofA late summer (actually basically one of the last on the wl)... Does anyone know if when the waitlist/rejections is released, if they will immediately tell you your number?
All I've heard is they will be released before mid March. Tucson will tell you your number at the time of release. However, phx will not give out the numbers for whatever reason.
I personally find that knowing your "number" is sort of a tacky decision by the school-- I know that by being a pre-med, inherently we can't have too much pride, but to know that you're ranked 80, and then FINALLY they let you in (reluctantly it would seem), would be a tough pill to swallow.
... That being said, I just talked to Phoenix and the lady said they def have not filled all their spots and have not even made a WL yet. Another round of acceptances will be going out within the next few weeks, and all applicants will know their status by the middle of March (accepted, WL, or rejection). ...
...Meaning, Phoenix is looking even more attractive to me by the second. Does anyone know how to structure a great letter of intent? I'm not sure what to include in it... dear adcom? to whom it may concern? And what do you say - I am very interested in your campus? I guess I'm just confused... can I get your advice
Dear AdCom,
I loved visiting your campus and think that I have a lot to offer to the school and its student body. Attending __name of SoM here____ has been a dream of mine since ____. Although I have other options, __name of SoM here___ is my one and only. I look forward to hearing from you with great eagerness and anticipation.
Sincerely,
biteMeAdCom

I'm curious about the use of the word def here. Did they say it emphatically, as if they had a sizeable number of seats yet to be offered?
The word "def" was my personal injection, but she did specifically say that there would be another waive going out before the WL and rejections. I asked how many seats were left and she said she wasn't sure. But that is still good news for us who want to go to Phoenix!
And she said the next waive would go out before mid march, since mid march is when WL/ rejections go out (she said that by mid march every applicant would know their status)
Last week I got accepted at another school in Michigan. I almost didn't interview there, but after visiting the campus and meeting the people, they are my top choice. It is such a good feeling to finally be accepted somewhere, and have the pressure off.
I'm still waiting to see if I get in here, or waitlisted, but mostly so I can say, "No thanks!"
Good luck to all of you that are still waiting. This is my 4th time applying, and in a way it's a good thing, because I found my perfect school.

Thank you for making me laugh! I wrote this post in the middle of my 12 hour night shift, and couldn't eloquently express my feelings... thanks for doing it for me! May I copy and paste your work into my email message? Lol.
For those of you who are thinking about supplying the AdCom with letters of intent or interest, I'd say that it can't hurt. It shows initiative and that you have a strong desire to attend that school. I sent a letter of interest to Tucson and a letter of intent to Phoenix. Not sure if this had much to do with my acceptances, but obviously it won't count against you.

I'm a little confused by this part of it...I thought you had two weeks after your second acceptance...
Congratulations though!
Oh my goodness that is so cool. I remember you said you were accepted to Phx already. Which one are you going to choose? It gives us all hope!
So I just spoke with Ann (sp?) and she said the committee met last night and came up with some alternates but they also had a few openings and decided to go ahead and fill those right away. I'm in!! I'm not sure which campus I will head to yet. Best of luck to you guys
This thread is so cool. We get such inside information about release dates, etc. 😍
Karb - I looked at a few of your posts...so which tie did you go with?
I just got an acceptance from the Phx campus! It was timed 5:15, definitely didn't expect it this late in the day. I'm choosing Tucson for sure though.
