Yea she is # number 23. Hopefully she calls today and gives us an update and hopefully we are up to 20 atleast.
 
So, do you think the wait list number will jump at least 10 after May 15th? I think it jumped 15 last year...
 
Seals-want to give the office a call before they leave? I am in the library and supposed to be writing a paper and working dilligently 🙄...or else I would .
 
Hmmm idk. I called on wed when they were still at 19 just didnt post it. I kinda dont want to be a bug so maybe someone else can do maybe evans? If no one steps up though I guess I could call again.

I think we should all have code names to be cool.

I just called and there was no answer 😕.

I'm hoping they're just out to lunch, but it's looking like they took an early Friday again. I'll try again in an hour, but I guess we'll just have to wait all weekend.

I love SMB. I'm big into classic rock: Beatles, Doors, Led Zep, etc. My step dad is a nut, so I think his love of the 60s/70s classics rubbed off on me.

And I agree on Cuddy's name. She so obvisouly is a huge toker, although she tries to cover it up with "it's my birth date!"

Hmmmm... is it time to start panicking yet? Where exactly was the wait list at this same time last year? I really really hope movement picks up, this is torture!
 
Never mind I just did a quick scan of last year's thread, here are the numbers:


#25- As of May 1st last year (we are currently at #20 with 19 accepted)

#30- As of May 7th last year (we will be there in one week)

#39- As of May 15h last year (the decision deadline)

#60- Beginning of July last year


So it looks like we are about 5 spots behind last year's pace right with the current values. In order to stick with last year, we need to go through about 19 spots in two weeks. Don't know how likely that is...

Nonlocality has given us the best possible assessment regarding the wl that we could ever hope to achieve, if anyone disagrees then I invite you to generate a better, more well thought out graph. The idea is to understand trends as opposed to worrying about individual data points that correspond to exact dates. Deviations from last years points is to be expected because 2012 class behavior will not directly model class 2013 behavior. But you cannot simply say that because we are lagging behind where we were in 2008 that we may only get to a certain number like 55. For all we know there are 25 UA COM students holding acceptances who may be on wait lists for their top choice schools and come May 16 they may all get an acceptance and chose to decline UA giving us a serious jump of 25 students. Understand the rationale? While this may be unlikely it would be a bet I would take over no movement at all. We're moving into a time period of large movements in wl numbers. A movement of 19 in 2 weeks is more more possible given the time period(close to may 16) then at any other time period. A significant next 2-3 weeks could potentially push us above the 08 trend. While a final exact wl number would be impossible to gather from the data we have, an educated guess can be made by understanding the trends.

My suggestion is to pay less attention to the individual data points but rather look at the trend lines that arise from the data. Especially the trend lines that arise within the next few weeks as we gather more data.

I probably just ended up sounding like an idiot but I welcome any questions.

Um, was no one able to get a hold of the admissions office on Friday? Perhaps one of us can call on Monday and use that for the Friday value?

Gosh, I hope the WL moves more before May 15th!
 
From talking to the lady who answers the phone she said significant movement occurs like in the week just before may 16 as well as slightly after. Im almost positive that were going to see significant movement within the next two weeks. Not so much next week but the following week. Doctora where are you at? Low 20s? High 20s? Low 30s?

:laugh: Nonlocality doesn't seem like the ass-beating type, but I'm pretty damn sure he'll find out a way of making you suffer to a statistically significant degree worse than any ass-beating imaginable.
 
It would likely involve hauling rocks around. (This was an esoteric comment so don't try hard to understand it)

Umm, I never disagreed with nonlocality's method of analyzing the data points. In fact, I agree that his method is a more comprehensive means of determining the waitlist position. I was simply pointing out that the waitlist had moved faster at the same point last year and we have a lot of movement to do in order to catch up to it. It seems silly to say one method is infinitely better than another when we are in reality blindly guessing the end result of these numbers.
 
We should place bets on the final wait list number. Anyone with me?
 
My comment wasnt directed at you or anyone in particular it was mainly to raise awareness that its better to look at the trend as opposed to individual data points. If you read between the lines or maybe just in my own mind I was also trying tell others not to worry if we are a bit behind 08 for a specific date.

Definitely, it's never a good idea to become consumed in these numbers since the whole process is so unpredictable. Better to remain optimistic than to be a downer. I have not been watching the more recent episodes of Scrubs since season 7 was such a disaster. I hear this season is amazing though so I will be sure to pick it up on DVD! 🙂
 
This season has had some hilarious moments. You can always catch a few episodes off abc's website. Waiting for the DVD might take forever. Season 7 was kind of pootie I agree. Too bad this season is the last of it.

haha i love my codename -- gangster of loooove! so hopefully im not being too forward in assuming acceptance, but i signed my lease for next year. and the fact that we graduate in less than 2 weeks still hasn't hit me...

I wish there was a way we could categorize our posts as either "contributing to the legacy of Arizona Questions thread" or 'totally useless banter', which basically we've been doing a lot of during this huge dry spell of wait list non-movement.

I feel bad for the future generation of applicants that come here looking for info then end up having to sift through our nonsense to actually find relatively useful posts.

Haha. And man I'd be sad missing out on a UA class of 2013 bbq. I hope they pull me off of the wait list at phx so I can meet at least some of you all, errr, ummm, I mean - so I can go to medical school.

Glad to hear it. And seriously, I'm going to need to celebrate whether my wait lists pull through for me or not. Either way, I'm done with 4 terribly busy years of school and work and premed stuff. Now... on to the easy cake walk of medical school and beyond. Right? 😀
