A friend of mine mentioned that she knows two people who are planning on giving up their seats at the UA, and they have not called yet...so, let's see when they do!
 
Still holding acceptances to a school you know your not going to attend just seems insensitive. JMHO

stupid question: does a high wl number mean that you are in 20s 30s etc or doe it mean that you are in the 90s etc? 😀
 
Does anyone understand this towns inabillity to complete one construction project before starting 3 others?
 
A low waitlist number (1-30) is one that has a very good chance of turning into an offer. The high numbers (70-99) are unlikely to pay off. The others are somewhere in between.

Don't anyone tell hereicome, but I just called up the adcom office and identified myself as HereIComeSEALS. I told them that I wanted to give up my waitlist seat because I am hoping to get into a much better (more elite) Ivy League medical school.

So I think he might not be getting that call he is expecting.

First I would like to say that if it was MY med school I would make sure all the waitlisters that have contributed to the good humor of this thread would get in.

Here is the latest waitlist plot.

Data Analysis-
I think we have enough data to provide a preliminary projection of where we might end up. Of course the past few weeks have seriously put us behind the 08 numbers so I think it is unlikely that we will do as well this year - even though we are going to 115 offers.

Estimate-
Being conservative, I think we will end up somewhere between 44 and 50 by early/mid june. If you are in this range I suggest you follow through on your Plan B in case it starts to slow down.

Less conservatively it is possible that we will get into the low 50's but we will have to wait a couple of weeks to see if this is likely.

As we get more data I hope to both update this plot and narrow the likely landing spot a bit.

This is an early/mid june prediction but like prior years you can expect that waitlist number to creep up, ever so slowly as you hit mid july.

So if you do not have an alternative school choice and you are within 7 waitlist spots above the early/mid june waitlist number, it is still possible that we could have late dropouts or deferments that might allow you to get an offer. If this is your situation then you might want to contact the admission's office and let them know that you are interested in a last minute offer. You will also need to, keep your options open, call weekly to get an updated number and stick close to your phone. I imagine that as they approach the end of july they will want an immediate answer and if they can't contact you they will move quickly on to the next.

Last year (very late july) they had a last minute dropout/deferment that caused them to quickly go through 4 waitlist numbers until they filled the seat.

Thanks a lot cuddy. I really hope the wl picks up speed. Its been so slow. I hope we see a lot more acceptances by friday. Im sure Mon and Tues will be good days for movement as well.


Im still rooting for us to get to 64 so maybe we can pull madev away from wake.

Yea Im done with everything finally. Im going to celebrate by not doing a single thing. Lazyness is so so easy.

i called earlier around 1ish and they said they had accepted 28. so a l m o s t to the 30s!
 
I hope there's A LOT of movement the next copule of days. It's possible, right? If there were 2 just today, that means we could hopefully get to the mid 30s by the end of next week when the movement slows down again. Aahh, I can't stand it!
 
This really sucks. I don't know whether or not to spend money on retaking the MCAT's or hold out a little longer waiting for the list to move! I wish I wasn't on the bubble

I know it is tough being on the bubble but, I think the worst thing to do is get stuck in the "I don't want to decide" mode of thinking.

Being #47 gives you an excellent chance of getting in, soiwannabee.

I think by mid-june it will be very clear whether you are in or out. You just have to do some basic preparation now.

So I recommend that you:
1. Get your LORs done/redone and submitted
2. Sign up now for a mid-july mcat date (if you need to retake it). You can still get a partial refund if you cancel within 14 days of that date.
3. Get a review of your current application from the tucson adcoms
4. Start studying for the mcat
5. Start redoing your personal statement and extracurricular activities. You can still submit your aamc app by early-july and have it be verified at around the same time as your mid-july test results get back

I have updated the plot with thursday's waitlist number and edited it into my last post (WaitlistLatest15.zip).

Does someone want to call in today for an update?

Yeah I'm working on the whole AMCAS...just struggling with motivation. I really hate being so close.

Still accepted 28 as of 9:10
 
Since it is still early, we should get an update later in the day..I have graduation at 1pm or else I would call around then..but could someone else?
 
Tomorrow is supposed to be the day people choose isn't it? Even though nothing goes on during the weekend I'm sure Monday and tues are going to be really good days. I can prob call if no one else wants to.
