Both UW and USC have been dream schools of mine for as long as I can remember. This will be an extremely difficult choice, as I have family in both areas. I grew up in the USC area and am more familiar with LA, but always wanted to experience Seattle life. I love both programs for different reasons (the diverse clinical training at UW though the WWAMI program & the superb boards prep & intense urban training USC has to offer). I am thinking about going into cardiology and doing some research while in med school. Any thoughts on what you would do would be helpful.

they are both great. UW is much cheaper than Keck.

How do you feel about sunshine?

Absolutely no contest in my opinion. I prefer UW in every regard, including location.

However, I can't speak specifically for the WWAMI program and how its rural mission would mesh with an interest in research.

If you do well at either med school, you should get into a solid internal medicine residency. Getting into cardiology is dependant on your performance in your internal medicine residency. So in terms of your goals in medicine, either school is fine. I would prefer Washington for the quality of life during med school. But really, it does not matter. Either is equally good. Choose Seattle or pick the cheapest.

I'm first going to say I AGREE COMPLETELY with Searun. PS caps is not yelling but emphasis here.

Secondly, I also have many friends from LA and they would not pick USC over UW. Maybe a UC ove UW, but not USC. Thirdly, I don't know how OOS costs at UW but if you can establish residency after 1 year then maybe you can get a cheaper tuition there for the other 3.
