WesternU c/o 2026

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm also wondering if maybe there's something going on with their system/tech since it seems like quite a few people haven't received any updates on their portals + a lot of us haven't received any type of email from them despite our portal being updated while other people did receive an email.
I was wondering that too. Maybe there was a glitch that prematurely updated portals but decisions were not complete yet, so those applications did not receive updates because there is no decision made yet.

I hope that same glitch makes me “accepted”and not an alternate 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

And I hope that it doesn't change "accepted" to anything else, haha. That would be heartbreaking. Also there are applicants that have already started submitting deposits.

That would be terrible!!! I think it will be OK. Just some delays 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do we create our own Class FB group? Or does the university do that for us?
I don’t think so but regardless we could start a Western C/O 2026. I was just checking to see if anyone had one started and it doesn’t appear like it.

I’m not much of a Facebook user but I’m excited to meet you all, so I started this group!

🤗 We are in the process of making a group for you all! We are just in the middle of midterms right now

Does anyone have an idea when white coat could be?

Is anyone having trouble reaching counselors or admissions in general? I have a question about withdrawing from a course that isn’t a prerequisite, but I haven’t been able to get a hold of anyone for 4 days (both email and phone). 🙁

white coat is usually the Saturday before classes start! so Most likely near the beginning of August 🙂 ( possibly first week of August)
Orientation week is August 1-6th, so I would assume the White Coat Ceremony would take place during that time. Just no specific date listed yet.

Just a quick fyi in regards to Orientation it is mandatory to attend in person in order to keep your seat. That is what they informed us last year. Class start the next week.

Oh, most definitely! My plans are in early July and I would cancel for school lol, Thank you!

I'M CRYING TEARS OF JOY!! I GOT IN!!

Heard back earlier today around 5pm; if the news you were hoping for weren't what you expected, I hope you do try again (this is my second time applying after 2 years of initially applying)
Congrats!!! What did you change from your first application that made you stand out this time?

Does anyone know if we get access to a western email account and student number? Is that only offered to accepted students?

I was waitlisted in the past and it was only for accepted students unfortunately, fingers still crossed!!!

The admitted students page states that we will be assigned an email account after the deposit is paid. The email information will be found in our application status page after payment. Once we have an email account we can login to our student portal.

Thank you for the clarification!! 😍

thank you so much, this is very helpful ☺️

Former alternates: when you were taken of the waitlist, were you notified by email or phone call? Thanks a bunch 😊

Hello class of 2026! We have the official green light facebook page for you all.
www.facebook.com/groups/westernuco2026/

For now we will only be asking for a yes or no if you have accepted your seat, later down the line we will be using emails. The current class of 2025 want to be as helpful as possible!

Since most will not be accepting until closer to April we will be first focusing on talking about the different residential areas etc.
As time progresses we will be introducing the clubs and reps we have once a more solidified number is reached, but in the meantime we will try our best to answer any questions you may have 🙂

Again Welcome and congratulations!!

Based on last year's SDN forum, most people got emails. But 2 years ago it seems like people got phone calls.

Are you okay with alternates also joining the FB group to learn more about the school and area just in case we were to get accepted? My biggest worry, if I get pulled off the waiting list, is finding somewhere to live within a short amount of time that is both affordable and will allow 2 dogs.

Maybe I missed it earlier in the forum but I have not seen that anyone received emails for acceptance. Not directly from anyone in this forum at least. It seems we all received our news about acceptance from our portal.

Did anyone here get an actual email regarding acceptance?

I didn't personally get any emails from WesternU, but there have been people on FB who have said that they received an email.

I received an email saying I had a change to my application status!

got an email saying there is a change in my application and when you log in it has a link to the updated status which was the acceptance letter.

Of course! We usually get an official list near the summer time, I know it's difficult when you can be pulled anytime as an alternative.

Does anyone know if/how we can schedule a tour of campus? I have been searching online but it seems like they still may not be offering tours due to COVID.

I tried emailing the school on Monday about it. So far, no response.

They aren’t doing scheduled tours but you can walk around campus on your own and go into the student affairs office and tell them ur an admitted student and you may find someone with time. (Told to me by someone via phone in the admissions office)

Congrats!!! What did you change from your first application that made you stand out this time?
Thanks! This time I had ~2 years of research experience with lab animals (at the time of applying, I had barely joined a research lab so not much to write down on my application) and a paper that's expected to (hopefully) publish later this year. I also volunteered at one more clinic for a short bit but I think it was mainly the research aspect!

Back then, I was notified by phone call literally 2 weeks before classes would've began. They only gave me 15 minutes to decide however so be prepared to make the decision!

Curious, but how is everyone applying to loans/how soon should I apply? I sent in my Fafsa application on the day of but haven't heard back yet and am wondering if I should wait for it before applying to loans. I'm just worried about deadlines...

I thought that the school took care of most of this for us?

Oh yes you're right! I just don't have experience applying for loans and didn't know that the school facilitates this process:

"Our goal is to start emailing students their financial aid package by Memorial Day and end by July 4th. (If you receive an email to register for the fall semester without your financial aid package, please alert me right away.) In our email to you, it will include instructions on how to accept the loans. It will give you the opportunity to accept the amount you wish up to the total cost of attendance. Your financial aid package will consist of two loans (Unsubsidized $xx,xxx and Grad PLUS) which add up to the cost of attendance. No credit check is necessary for the Unsubsidized loan ,but one will be conducted for the Grad PLUS."- Ralph Arajuo MBA, Fin Aid Counselor

Thank you for the information!!! I don’t answer all of my phone calls and worry if I miss the call, I could be missing an opportunity. Was the area code 909? Did they also post their offer on the student portal too? 😨

Do you by chance know if we need to just fill out the normal FAFSA form or do we also need to fill out the Grad PLUS form?

Oh man I don't remember the area code, but I'm pretty sure it said Pomona, CA which was why I picked up! I don't think it was posted to the student portal until a lot later, it seemed like they wanted to hear back from phone first

Honestly I'm not too sure because if you try to type in WesternU into the Direct Plus Loan application, it says "The school you selected doesn't participate in the Direct PLUS Loan application process for graduate/professional students through StudentAid.gov. Contact your school's financial aid office."

I'll contact them and get back to you on that; I do know that they will start sending out the fin aid packages in May so keep an eye out for that then!

Awesome! If you don’t hear back right away, I’ll try messaging them on Monday about it to see what we can learn.

Did some digging, she was on the alternate list per a previous comment. Wondering if she got a call or if they updated her portal though
Oh dang, are they already starting to take students off the waitlist?? I don’t think it’s ever happened this early in the previous two years!

Wait did you by chance maybe get KSU and WesternU confused (or misread in this case)? I looked through the posting history as well just to give myself peace of mind (lol cuz I just needed to know if they were sending out emails to waitlisted applicants already) and it says they posted an alternate status for KSU but I wasn’t able to find anything similar to WesternU. Obviously I could be totally wrong though!
