Not really a thing for people to be randomly killed. If a player is killed, 99% of the time another player is responsible.

And if it is a mod kill, it is normally for not playing or breaking the rules and it is announced.

1. Like I said, I'm not discouraging the current line of thought. Really just noting things in case it doesn't turn out that way and trying to generate discussion.

2. I wouldn't think that lupin would make the writeups entirely useless to us. Obviously I don't know exactly how the writeup thing works but I figured either she gave them a little info about their deaths to include or she added details herself.

Also, to add to this, look back at the first post of the game in which it explains the natural abilities of those that inhabit each planet.

Someone just falling over sounds more like something someone from chtulu is capable of considering their innate abilities.

Though where people are from doesn't necessarily align with where they started out in the game. So could still be someone from Cthulhu (Cthulhan?) who was on Descartes at the time.
 
There was also that line in the opening post that referred to someone who wanted to destroy everything (paraphrasing from memory). I could see an entity like that being able to act outside of the constraints of worlds.

It didn't take long for Bacaulay to realize that, no matter how hard he tried, compared to his brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandmothers and great-grandmothers...he was nothing special.

Boulder toppling? Tired out after only 50 boulders, left in the dust as his brother plowed through 15 more.
Sheep hurling? He couldn't even get them over the steeple...their bleets rang out in a mocking chorus, taunting him, laughing at him....so loud, so CLOSE.... it was just humiliating.

Then one magical, life-changing weekend, he found himself home alone for the holidays. (No hard feelings, Pops. He's easy to forget.) It was pretty uneventful at first---but then, oh but then--bored out of his mind, alone and abandoned, flipping through the channels, he landed on station that would change his young life forever.

It was Saturday Night Fever. There he was--in a flash, in a swirl, in a whirlwind of colorful lights and glittering disco balls and pure, unadulterated inspiration. Bron Bravolta. Restless. Underachieving. Unappreciated. But by god, look at him dance.

And that was that. By the time Bacaulay's family came home from vacation, Bravolta stared down from dozens upon dozens of posters, plastering every inch of his bedroom walls. He'd finally found his place in life. He was going to be....a dancer.

So he practiced. Every day he practiced. He kick-ball-changed a hole in the wall. He pas de bourree'd til the cows came home. It was his calling. He couldn't fail. He was finally going to prove himself, to stake out his own identity, to be something special for a change.

But then...it still hurt him to think about it. You'd think he'd be desensitized, after every night, filled with the same nightmare, forced to relive that moment, over and over and over. But....he was only animoid. Some feelings are hard to shake.

The lead in the school play. Dirty Dancing. He could hardly believe it--he'd never been so proud of anything in his life. Brenda could toss all the logs she liked. He was going to be a STAR.

Now, when he closed his eyes at night, he was right back there, in that dingy auditorium--opening night, the closing number. A sea of eyes, all glued on him. She lifts her arms and runs toward him---that final, beautiful, confident leap. She's flying.

Then he hears the crash. The gasps. And worst of all, the laughs. Deafening. They echo in his memory, unrelenting. When the laughs die down, he hear the whispers. "The strength of 10 men?" they sneer..."And he thought he could pull this off? What a joke."

But they don't know, him, he whispers in the night. They don't know Bacaulay Bulkin.

It's quiet tonight, but Bacaulay's room is alive with movement. Three years older, three years stronger. Laughed out of audition after audition. But he won't let them tear him down. He grits his teeth. His head is pounding. He glaces at the television. Those blowhard politicians are going at it again. Explains the headache. He rolls his eyes, and flips lazily through the channels. His yawn freezes on his face as he realizes what he's landed on.

Dirty Dancing.

He shudders. What a cruel joke. An awful reminder of all he could have been. But...somehow, something feels different this time.

Remember Bron Bravolta, chants a quiet voice in his head. REMEMBER BRON BRAVOLTA. The voice grows louder. More persistent.

"BRENDA!" He yells. "BRENDA!" His urgency is building. It's a sign. The time had come. He can't let fear rule him anymore.

His sister pushes the door open. "DO IT!" he yells. "NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER SURRENDER!"

Brenda nods. She understands.

He takes a deep breath. Brenda runs. Brenda leaps. Bacaulay's heart soars.

A FLASH OF MAGIC.

Again, a crash. Shrieks ring out, like Deja Vu.

This time, no one's laughing.

Brenda's shrieks die on her lips. She looks down in terror.

Bacaulay stands like a statue, frozen in instant rigor mortis. But on his face....a look of triumph, of hope, of pride. In death, strong and true, he holds his arms high, lifting Brenda. She's soaring, flying....a perfect catch.

Of Note: I had an interesting thought come through, and I liked it for its out of the box thinking. Abilities can also be performed on a person you anticipate moving onto the planet you are on or are moving to. It is a high risk maneuver in case that target doesn't end up where you thought, as this will negate the action of course. So for clarity, Actions can be done on someone residing currently on the same planet as you, a planet you move to, or the gamble in someone you think will be where you end up. Good times. Adds some intrigue.

Also, think we should take note of the things highlighted in blue. Makes it very possible that kills could occur between planets.

I do find it odd that she chose not to move and there were kills from area.
 
I chose not to move too but I was forced to.

I'm more convinced that 3m just hasn't checked back in at all, still doesn't mean she couldn't be a wolf but guess I'm not feeling that lynch. Seems like the easy scapegoat almost.

While I don't particularly find WZ's posts odd because I do think there could have been kills across planets based on the info lupin has given in the write up. I do find it a bit odd she hasn't provided much of a defense more just longer explanations.

Still going to hold off on a vote for now because I'd like to hear from a few more people first.

I responded to what STL said. Other votes for me didn't have any explanation other than that I'm on the list of people who were in Descartes. I've given my reads and thoughts. What else do you want?

Still just under 6 hours left in the day and most people haven't voted yet anyway.
 
LoTF pandering to me with the mayor vote is the only thing that's giving me hesitation of going full out on Dubz. I doubt it's MMM, or rather, I don't think she has actually checked in and thus don't think her actions (or lack thereof) are incriminating.

Usually DVMD won't come out as much with her fangs towards me day one if she is a wolf. So she is more in my villager column. I am forgetting who the last person from Descartes was?

Shelter. But I'd bet money she's not a wolf. If we're right about it being someone from Descartes, it's lotf or 3m (or both). 3m's absence doesn't in any way clear her, and I don't know why it's been said a couple times now that she hasn't checked in. She was here yesterday.

But don't hold back. You wanna run a bad lynch train against me, go right ahead. See if you can bury me. You know I like a challenge.

I never said 3m didn't check in. Simply mentioned I think she disappeared after she did and just hasn't come back. I very well could be wrong though.

I think someone else had mentioned that she didn't check in. Or I imagined it. Either way I just don't get the line of reasoning STL was using to discount her. Even if she hadn't checked back in, wolves put in actions for each other most of the time. So I don't see how it matters.

Looking at the kills it looks like 2 different people did them as they were described as a "flash of metal" and "flash of magic." Seems odd the wolves would want to have two separate kills on the same planet. Makes me wonder if wolf kills follow the same rules. For now though I'll go with the simplest explanation and look at the people who were on Descartes.

I'm between 3m and LoTF. I found LoTF's comment about moving to Cthulu odd. Looking through it seemed most of the people on and responding to STL's plan last night were on Descartes. Even if most people weren't going to leave Descartes it seemed like there would be less people on Descartes than Cthulu. So if being where less people were was the goal to increase the chance of getting items from the trading post I don't see how moving to Cthulu would do that

It matters because someone (and I thought it was you) claimed the intent of staying back in the third group. If she was a wolf, I would imagine she would not want to be in a situation where she is singled out. Bringing her lower on my list. And the fact that people are claiming Malintent when there was no evidence of her checking in during the time the plan was hatched cries foul to me.

Without any posts, I can't prove it, but I could have swore she was lurking.
 
So I just got home and we have no power thanks to a transformer that exploded and my phone battery is super low. Unless the power comes back, I won't be able to check in again.

Skimming what has happened since I last read the thread, I'm sort of on board with checking out if 3m or LoTF is the wolf that did one of the kills last night. Has 3m checked in at all? I know the wolves could have decided to have her do the kill even without her permission, but I'm not sure how likely that is. Also weird that almost all of that planet abandoned ship.

Hey guys. This is me checking in. Just got off work and have to drive home so once I get there I'll get on my computer and catch up. Seems like some people seem to think I was lurking last night or something? I definitely wasn't on at all after cast my vote, and I'm not sure why someone could even say that without posts or something to back it up. AM often likes to try to jump on me though.

STL you say that she wouldn't want to be singled out, but how would she know that she was going to be singled out if she didn't move? it could be just as likely that she would end up singled out by being the only one who DID move. it's not like there's communication within the groups

Eh. The wording just set off alarms in my head. So it's vague sketch, not specific.

Like: "I think focusing on the people who were on the same planet as Kam and SAR makes sense for today but...there is still something off (to me) about the kill choices."

That sort of "I noticed this BUT ...." kind of thing is the ambivalent hand-waving type of stuff that wolves do when they just want to edge up the confusion level by providing all sorts of theories to distract people, but without really associating themselves too much with it.

Similarly: "Jut keeping in mind that the "unless otherwise specified" could very well refer to wolf kills" is the kind of thing that is probably unlikely and is a low-odds proposal that could distract from better theories.

I will be the first to admit that the above isn't concrete. It's vague. It's between the lines. It's wording choices and ambiguity and the sort of "throw out an idea but don't be too attached to it" sort of thing that wolves commonly do.
 
Lynch STL

I'm not feeling either of the other lynches, and STL's posts have felt... Off. Maybe he's just being method about things, but it doesn't feel like normal STL.

That's fair, it's a bit of WIFOM on my part. Looking back, it is more open to interpretation whether we were going with the plan. I assumed we were pretty much a go, but I see a couple of posts that contradict that.

I will move back my position on her a bit, but am still more interested in Dubz and LoTF

Actually, even though it runs (somewhat) contrary to my reasons for not voting for STL for mayor, I have him fairly comfortably village right now, too.

I have Trilt leaning wolf, though.

I am as fair game for a LoTF vote. I just know Dubz is able to skate through suspicion, so I wanted to bring her more to the forefront, since I figured LoTF would accumulate a few

... and trying to decide if that sort of rear-up-and-fight attitude is typical for her as a villager or wolf. If that were certain players, I'd hands down call them out as a wolf right now, but with WZ I'm not really sure if it's her style.

I eventually get prickly when up for lynch in any role. More so when village I think, but I don't study my own meta too closely, plus I'm village far more often anyway.
