Did anyone just get an email from admissions telling you about the rank list, etc... and time frame for everything?

Yep! I guess they sent that to all interviewed applicants.

I never got that email but I interviewed. Huh??

Oh there we go, I just received it. It makes me kinda sad though.

Hehe yeah I almost died when I saw it 😛

But hey, at least now we know a little more about the process 🙂

And it also seems that they don't really reject many people at all "a final wait-list is prepared and generally includes the majority of interviewed applicants who have not been accepted and wish to remain on the wait list."

Which is quite nice if you ask me. I like to be both informed and told that likelihood of rejection is quite low.

Idk... the problem with the Baylor waitlist is they don't tell you where you are on it. So there could be 200 people on the waitlist in April, and you could be in the bottom 10 with essentially no chance of getting in, but you'd never know that and you'd keep your hopes up vainly 🙁

If I'm at the very bottom, I'd rather just get the rejection and move on with my life.

When will they have accepted everyone they plan to accept? Is the "every two weeks" part true?

It says "All interviewed applicants are placed in a continually growing rank list from which a variable number are chosen every week beginning in mid-October, and continuing through early April." So it seems they're going to be making decision every week. However, as we can see, "a variable number" can potentially mean "zero" in some weeks 😛

Also, it says, "
During the first week of April a final wait-list is prepared and generally includes the majority of interviewed applicants who have not been accepted and wish to remain on the wait list. The wait list will remain until the class is filled in mid-July."

So it seems like the first week of April/last week of March will be the big time for acceptances from Baylor. There will still be a glimmer of hope through July, though.

They interview ~450 IS. Have to have at least 75% of class IS (126 students) and thus have to accept at least 200 IS students. Which honestly is pretty good compared to some of my schools.

Agree completely, and that's why I'm still hopeful 🙂 However, I'm just saying that by April it would be nice to know where we stand a little better than "top 450."

Time to stop being a lurker...

Interview on 10/24. Accepted 11/14.

I didn't get whatever email was sent out today.
Good luck to everyone.

Does it feel to you guys that if you got the email, that means you've been passed over and are on the "waitlist" right now?

That's not really the feeling I get from it; I kinda feel like they've got everyone, all the way back to 9/5, on this list, and each week, maybe 5-10 people get in off that list, regardless of when we interviewed. I guess we'll know for sure when/if someone who interviewed a while back (like another 9/5 or 10/3-er) gets in off the list.

Just remember guys that acceptances will come when you least expect it (quite literally). I got my on Christmas Eve via mail of all days.😛

Now YOURS is an encouraging story! Looking at your MDApps, I notice you got invited for an interview all the way back in August (presumably interviewing in September or October), apparently didn't get in on the first couple of batches... and then still got in before March/April! 🙂

So the moral of the story, guys, is that they really DO accept people from throughout the interview season during each of their weekly reviews! 🙂 Just cuz you interviewed way back on 9/5 or even 10/3, 10/17 or 10/24 and haven't heard yet doesn't mean you might not be sitting at #13 or so on that list and might hear sometime in the next month!

i am interviewing at BCM this Friday. i'm really excited! anyone with any suggestions or advice to the day in general? i'm also staying with a student host, thursday and friday night. there's only like 1 post in the interview feedback from this interview season so far, so i thought it was worth a try asking here...

it's a pretty relaxed day. you'll start around noon. the only advice i would offer is to be yourself and be enthusiastic.

also, the Texas Medical Center can be really confusing, so anyone not staying with a host should give themselves plenty of time in case you get lost.

Yeah everything is pretty relaxed. I think generally they try to pair you up with a student + faculty interviewer.

And by golly is the TMC confusing. I got lost for my Baylor interview but luckily made it there just in time. When I went back there for my UTH interview, I couldn't find the TMC for some reason ... Houston roads are soooo confusing.

Do they really interview until Feb... I am just worried cuz they just finished reviewing my file two(?) weeks ago...

thanks guys for all your responses 😀

yeah going back and reading through this thread it sounds like they pretty much just rank you after you've been complete/reviewed and then pull the top X from the list and send invites to that group...so it's like a continuous, ongoing list and you could be in the next group!

Yeah...and it seems like they send invites in batches?

yeah exactly. it kind of looks like each "batch" is for more or less the same interview date (there may be people who have rescheduled, but the member who i saw on the interview invitation thread received an invite on the same day as me for the same interview day, so...). there's probably a batch upcoming for the interview dates after the holiday! by holiday i mean thanksgiving, not christmas 🙂

me too!!! can't wait 🙂
good luck!

I've had my application submitted as of 8/6, complete since probably a few weeks after, and I'm still waiting to hear back from Baylor. Granted, I'm not in state, but still... I'd want them to at least tell me after three months!

Does Baylor look unfavorably on out-of-state nontraditional applicants?

It should! Pianola is a nontrad OOSer and she got an early acceptance.

<-- What she said 🙂

Yeah. It looks like quite a few of the early acceptances were OOS, too...that said, the class will be 70-75% Texas residents. So yes, ISers are preferred overall, I suppose.

You might want to call Baylor if you've been complete for so long, citius...

No need for personal attacks...🙁

Sorry, I didn't intend for it to be mean. This process is a crapshoot and we continue to see people asking if "x means y" when the admissions committees have made no comments. For example, a rejection is a rejection, a deferment, being complete, being under review, etc. means whatever is said and only that.

What I'm saying is, don't lose hope, don't lose sleep over it, and if you're super cereal about getting in you'll do it 👍

So good luck, and keep working at it :hardy:

My status is as follows with Baylor:

Your application is complete and has been reviewed by the committee.
We will let you know something as soon as we are able.

Baylor College of Medicine interviews from September through February.
You are eligible for interview consideration through February.
Records are updated every 24 hours

Does this mean I might get an interview or will soon be invited?

It means you might. Someone earlier said that you get a numerical score, one on grades/MCAT, one based solely on the rest of your app, and put into a queue. They take the top of the queue for interviews. Assuming that's true, all your status means is that you're in the queue, and may possibly get an interview. Clear as mud? Good luck :luck:

thanks......i certainly hope so because I am tired of waiting.

INTERVIEW INVITE FOR 12/12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😀😀😀 finally i had been hoping for one of these for a lonnnnnnnnng time!!!!!!! Thank you Baylor!

I don't need to send anything in before my interview, correct? Can't I can simply bring the residency form and picture to the interview. Is there anything else I need to do? Is anyone going to be there with me? How many people are at each interview day? How long after 12/12 will I have to wait to hear something?

If you couldn't tell, I have a couple of questions...Thanks!

I'm a TX resident FYI.

I'll be there 12/5 and have some of the same questions.

um, in regards to the last question i think the consensus is that BCM keeps some sort of running rank of all the interviewed applicants and periodically pulls the top and offers them acceptances. so it's not a certain time frame.

i sent in a copy of my form and the photo and am also bringing hard copies of each.

i would be interested in hearing if anyone can tell us how many people are at each interview day! i'll be there and finished with my interviews in...48 hours! eeek!

I'm not a Texas resident so I had no form to submit, but I did give them a photo of myself when I was there. I didn't send one in the mail.

I think you need to submit the on-line part confirming your interview.

There were ~50 interviewees there the day that I visited. 🙂 It was enjoyable and they had good food.

Good luck.

My interview day (10/17) had more than 50 applicants since it was also the first day for MSTP interviews. On top of that, this was the first day that interviews originally scheduled for September 19th (my initial interview date) were being rescheduled to. Regardless, the experience was fantastic!

I wrote a blog entry about my day at BCM. 🙂
