Thanks guys!! - I interviewed on 11/07, I didn't think I would be lucky enough to find out in two weeks (they say at the interview that the earliest you can find out is in two weeks, but no news is good news..)

AAH! This is so awesome...

Wow congrats to all of you!!! Are all of you like waiting by your phones? Or are you trying to distract yourselves? Just curious 😀
 
Honestly, since this forum has shown that Dr. Greenberg can call on any business day at any hour of the day, I've had my cell phone glued to me at all times. Now I'm staring at the BCM brochure which has "Where Your Dream Becomes Reality" on the front cover wondering if reality will ever come for me. 😀

...now... back to Facebooking. 🙂
 
haha - well, atually my call wasn't from dr. greenberg, so apparently he is not the only one who calls accepted applicants.

also - docere..why are you class of 2015? MD/JD?

Me too! Got a call at 6:25. Ironically enough my car got broken into sometime about then as well and all my books and my laptop were stolen. Some good some bad to mitigate the craziness that either would lead to within me.

Accepted today as well! When I saw all the posts on here, I went to check my phone and, sure enough, there was a message waiting for me!
 
Congrats to all of you!! Are you guys still waiting to hear from other schools before making a decision or is this it for you?
 
i've still got more interviews lol... i think among the schools that are top on my list, it's going to come down to finaid packages

i received the call around 6:30 central time, btw. Woot!

Still waiting on quite a few schools... I would be very happy at Baylor, but there are lots of schools I love as well. So the waiting game!

My status page has said the following for a while now:
"Your application is complete and has been reviewed by the committee.
We will let you know something as soon as we are able."

Does this mean a rejection or is there still some hope for an interview invite? (I'm OOS btw)

There is still hope! My understanding is that much like how they do acceptances, Baylor keeps a running list of all of the applications they have reviewed, and every so often, they go onto their database and pull off the top X names and invite them to interview. So for all you know they invited 50 people last week and you were number 52 on the list, which means you would likely get a spot at the next open interview date.
 
so what is this food question they ask you at the BCM interview?
 
and can anyone give me some feedback on their interview? there's only 1 listed on the interview feedback page. throw me a bone pls 😀

They asked a few questions to the applicants to give away some prizes. Some of the questions I remember off the top of my head:

1.) Who has eaten the weirdest food? (Bird saliva won)

2.) Who drives the oldest car? (1989 something won)

3.) Who traveled the farthest to get here? (Boston won)

4.) What's the weirdest interview question you've been asked (at BCM or elsewhere)? (If you could be a Disney Princess, who would you pick and why?)

As for giving you a heads up on what to expect, I wrote a blog post summarizing my experience:

Haha, the student who was asked that responded: "I would be Pocahontas because she's goal-oriented and outdoor-sy." If there was ever a great interview answer, that's the one. Hahaha. 😀

Very standard question (and very relaxed interviews): Why Baylor? What was your favorite EC activity? Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What's your biggest fear in the medical field?

That's all I remember right now...
 
Yeah my interview there was really standard. I hear some interviewers love to ask ethical dilemmas, but I really only got two- what would you do if you accidentally got all of the answers to an exam emailed to you, and what would you do if you knew your best friend got them emailed to him/her? Both of mine were super laid-back, and some people said they got one who was pretty stone-faced, so I really just think it's a mixed bag.

Also, our ice-breaker question was "What's your favorite movie?" (Requiem for a Dream 🙂)
 
One of the questions I had during my interview was: "What do you think about Jewish people who drive expensive cars?"

I won the who-got-the-weirdest-interview-question prize.
 
I just had a Baylorgasm yesterday. Amazing school, happy students. I got a kick out of the fact that they take you to a bar afterwards. Only in Texas... lol! I used to live in Texas and I have family there, I hope I get accepted despite being OOS!

The wierdest food for us was Zebra. I came in second with fried rabbit head. lol

I agree! I know the people who've already heard back from BCM recommend that us not-so-lucky interviewees completely forget about BCM - they'll call when we least expect it. However, I don't think I'll ever master that technique. :bang:

No! I don't understand how somebody could completely forget! I dream about a Baylor phone call almost everyday. :bang:
 
I didn't get any weird questions, really. Just a lot of questions about my AMCAS application.

They asked a lot about one activity in particular: I volunteer at a Hospice and have shadowed a palliative care physician. Both of my two interviewers asked about that. I had one student interviewer and one faculty interviewer.

Yeah, I got asked about my clinical experience as well. It seems to be really important that you can communicate what you got out of those experiences.

Yeah, I agree.

My student interviewer said my AMCAS app was exceptionally well written. Which made me really happy since I spent forever and a day writing it 😀.

I'm in your same boat, so I'll wait/complain with you. Although it might be a while. I've consigned myself to waiting to hear back till march (if ever).

It sure does seem like they've come out on every single possible day of the week so far! I don't think any of us was likely to be phone-watching more carefully than Rishi, and Dr. Greenberg STILL managed to get him! I'm pretty sure he's got some psychic ability to let him know when your guard is down 😀
