I think they meet every third Thursday of the month?

One of my friends had an interview there a couple days ago and they said that they would be meeting and you should find out before Christmas! The time will pass quickly!!!

It is really surreal, I don't think it has sunk in yet, lol

Dear 2009 UIC College of Medicine Applicant,

The Committee on Admissions of the UIC College of Medicine reviewed your
application earlier for the month of November. We wish to advise you that
no final decision has been reached on your application, but that you are
still under consideration.

I got the same too. Is this waitlist? Does this waitlist ever move?

Hey guys don't lose hope. Of course the wait list moves. My advice is to write a letter of intent and keep bugging them to find out more about your position on the waitlist and ask whether they've made a decision on you after every meeting. If UIC is your first choice, state it in your letter. Good luck!

So does this email mean I'm officially on the waitlist? Why wouldn't they just say that?

Or are they going to reevaluate me next adcom meeting?

I don't mind the rejection. It's just multiple rejections suck

I don't interpret that e-mail as meaning that you are on the wait-list. This was only the second round of acceptances; what sense would it make to start wait-listing people now? They are going to be reviewing your application again next month. If this is one of your top choices, I'd recommend sending in that letter of intent. At this point, it could only help your chances.

thanks for the insight. i just figured after they looked at me twice they would not spend more time evaluating me. Ill hold off on the loi for now... dont mind waitlist, i just want to know my status

Does anyone know how long a big white letter will take to arrive? Is it really 2 weeks?

A decision was made on my app on a Friday and I received my letter in the mail on Monday...and I'm all the way in California. Don't worry, it will probably arrive a lot sooner than that.

Heston,
I was accepted last month and picked the Rockford track. Less than an hour from my hometown (west of Rockford) and a smaller city feel (I'm from a town of 800), definitely the place for me to be vs. Chicago. What's pointing you towards Rockford?

I don't know. i just like the small town-ness to it, the foliage, and how laid back it was. I was talking to my dad tonight and he said he would pick Chicago just because their rotations are just so much superior because they are teaching hospitals.

I seriously don't know. I'm not a big city person, but I guess I could be

because you aren't competing with residents, the rotations @ Rockford can be much more immersive from what I hear.

Yea, I think that ultimately at Rockford you get to literally "do" more stuff, and at Chicago you get to "see" more stuff... I don't know Heston, you could live in a Suburb and commute to UIC (thats what my wife plan on doing since we aren't huge big city people.) Might be worth putting up with the big city so that your transcript will say University of Illinois Chicago, name seems to carry a little further in case you ever move outside of Illinois, plus the match list from Chicago looks better.

Also I'd really like to see a large variety of cases during medical school cause I'll have the chance to learn to "do" some of those things that I would do at Rockford during residency. Also, if you aren't sure pick CHICAGO. Later on if you want to change it will be easier to switch from Chicago to Rockford then the other way around.

Congrats again guys, it is really late here so I am off. What a day, yesterday I went to bed unsure of my family's future, and tonight I go to bed knowing I'll become a doctor 🙂 Unreal... 👍

I think i would rather SEE more stuff first then DO. You're right - you would be doing stuff in residency anyway. That's pretty much exactly what my dad said.

Congrats again guys. Hope to see you!!

It's a new day. Anyone get an envelope in the mail or a new email?

I know, right? I told my parents only, but I gave them a caveat - it's not 100% official yet, but I told them all the reasoning and the process of elimination that is an accept. Yeah, so I can't wait to get that letter so that I can OFFICIALLY celebrate with everyone.

I'm a bit older than most of the applicants here, but I also told my parents. They refused to believe me until the letter arrived. Superstition, I guess.

Yea, I am a bit older, but after I tell people the run down ie Final decision, only CBC for accepted etc they celebrate with me 🙂 That being said, I am excited to get the official letter!

Are we going to have an old fogie competition?

I hope not. How about a who-gets-their-letter-first competition?

People need to post when they get their letter and where they are so we can track the progress across the US, lol

No old fogie competition necessary! I wouldn't consider myself old, just older... During my interview day they told us that the average age of the entering class is 22. That made me feel a little old, but they said the oldest was 38 I think. I'm currently in the Georgetown SMP and a lot of my classmates are around that age, and I'm a few years older and married, makes a difference!

So yes, no Old fogie competition, has it sunk in yet guys?? Doctors!

have you guys gotten the actual CBC email yet? I only got the first one from AMCAS saying another one is forthcoming

not yet either

You guys....I'm gonna be a doctor!!!! I'm actually crying right now. I'm so excited!!!

Yeah, i got the envelope this afternoon around 3:00. One of the happiest days of my life.

I got the CBC email yesterday and saw the status page change to "final decision was made 11/20/08." I haven't received the official letter yet, but I don't think i've ever seen my parents go so berserk in my life. Congrats to everyone.

congrats!! nothing in philly yet, but mail is notoriously slow in this part of the city

I live in Elgin, IL. 40+ minutes by car from the loop. ok, maybe a little more than that, but...yeah, fairly close

I got in!!!!!!!!!!!!! Interview on 9/14. First Accpetance. YAY!!!!!

Hey guy sI got the background check email but I can't check my status because I can't seem to find the email with pin. Is the pin a random number or is it something I would know? Please help guys I'm wiggin out.

Also, do you guys think the Chicago campus is filled up yet?

I believe you get a Pin from the AMCAS CBC email, and then you use it when you get an email from the company that is actually doing the background check. Don't freak out.

Darn, I am in Urbana and didn't get anything in the mail...

No, where do I get the PIN to check the status of my application?

I got the letter in the mail as well today. I live about an hour from the Chicago campus.

As far as the CBC goes, I received an acceptance from a different school in October who also participates in that program, but I never received an e-mail from Certiphi. So, I just ordered a CBC on myself the other day...hopefully, the schools can see this one, otherwise I just wasted 0-$150.

Hey all I interviewed on 11/12 and I got the decision made message
"A final decision on your application was made on 11-21-08..."
I wanted to know if anyone else got this message?
Also I haven't received any CBC email yet...does this mean a possible white letter?
Also I don't have that "additional correspondance" thing on my status page.
Can someone let me know? please? thanks!
