Any one gotten an interview invite in a while?? According to the interview invite thread, no one has gotten one since October 1, which I find very hard to believe. I've been complete since mid-August and have heard not one peep. My status is still marked as complete, but I was just wondering at what point I should stop expecting an invite.

Same here 🙁

400/750 interview slots have already been offered. Makes me nervous.

That was on October 6. Per the Michigan website http://www.med.umich.edu/medschool/admissions/, as of Oct 22, 475 interviews had been given out. So the pace has slowed somewhat.

And there are 11 (or fewer, since people interviewing Nov. 7 and maybe Nov. 14 have likely already received their offers) interview days to go, with 275 interview offers to be made.

How long is the is the time between invite and interview for Michigan?

I've been complete for almost a month now and no new news 🙁

3-4 weeks.

3-4 weeks.

Thanks! I was just checking the interview invite thread and it looked longer. So I think it's safe to say that the two November days are likely booked.

How many interviewees are there on each interview day? (Yes, it's a needless statistic, but numbers make me feel better)

I think there are about 30-40. Mine had 35.

I'm not holding my breath for an interview anymore... but honestly, you really never know. I'll take an interview invitation from what would most likely be my 'dream' top choice, even if its in April.

I got an email from Robert Ruiz a little after 5 pm eastern. Good luck to all. The video is awfully nice, too.

Oh those tricky, tricky people, emailing us specifically that we'd have to wait until tomorrow. Congratulations to everyone who got some good news tonight! I'm sooooooo happy!! :-D

lol, that threw me for a minute. i'm like "wait, i shouldn't hear anything until tomorrow, so this must be a good sign"

Threw me for a loop too. "Highly Desirable Dec. Decision" here.

Just received an email from Ruiz saying they did not have time to review my file at yesterday's meeting and will review it first at the next meeting. Is this different from a "Highly desirable, Dec. decision?" (what did your email say, michigator04?) Thanks.

Director Ruiz talked a bit about this on my interview day. He said that sometimes they just run out of time and by random luck, this happened to you. So they consider your app fully during the next meeting. He said that it has no bearing on their final decision.

In comparison, the deferred until December status means that they have reviewed the application once and have decided to hold off on a decision until it is reviewed a second time once more interviews/acceptances have been handed out (ie in December)

They didn't send me an email, I just checked my status after reading on here that people had started to get their decisions. This is what my status page said: Your application Status as of 11/13/2008

Highly Desirable - December decision
Your application has been deferred to a committee decision and no action will be taken on your file until December. This is a "no action" decision and further review of your file will take place again in December. This decision is not an offer of admission, waitlist, or rejection.

It sounds like Michiganator was evaluated and they are not quite ready to seal the deal, while Courage did not even get looked at yet. Two very different scenarios, but hopefully both with acceptances soon. G'luck to you both.

Actually, I've been accepted. I hoping to answer drjm1's question based on what Director Ruiz talked about on my interview day.

But thanks for the well wishes regardless. Also, congrats to everyone that's gotten the good news.

Remember, U of M doesn't have rolling admissions, which is why so many people get post interview holds. They only accepted the really, really, best candidates (mostly O of M students from what I've heard). Being put on December hold is the equivalent of most Private schools waiting until March to offer acceptances. I heard somewhere that they've only offered something like 20-30% of their predicted number of spots so far.

UMich is definately rolling. You can look at their admissions tracker here: http://www.med.umich.edu/medschool/admissions/
I know that around 10/15, it said that they had given out ~25% of their acceptances. Now it's up to 55%, which means that they've been accepting people since then.

Umich is semi-rolling, as Director Ruiz says. Meaning: everyone gets the same shot regardless of the time, but they start offering acceptances before ending the cycle. But 55% is a bit depressing, anyone know when the next review session is, and if it is before they look at all the applications again?

I'm a little "late" to the game. Just applied to UMichigan and sent fees this week. Anyone know how long it takes at this stage to be complete?

My app says it already went through "Initial Review 9/16" but at that time I hadn't sent supp, lor, and fees yet.

Your stats are in the autoinvite range, so that is probably what it means. But they take a bajillion years to finish everything...

well, I never got autoinvite like shemarty did though, and my GPA is below 3.5, so I doubt i get autoinvite

I originally sent primary to UMich in late June.

I have yet to receive an application complete email though. Are we supposed to get an email when we are "officially" considered complete, or does this suffice and my app has already being sent for interview considerations?

You will get an e-mail saying you are complete and then your file will go to the committee for review which could take anywhere from a couple weeks to several months.

has anyone received an interview who took a late august or early september mcat?

Hey Guys,

Just got an interview invite today (11/25). I submitted the secondary in August but I also didn't take my MCAT until the August 7th date so I really wasn't complete until my scores were received in mid-September. They said they would review summer MCAT applicants in late November so they seem to be right on schedule.

I was wondering if anyone knew how many applicants they interview and how many of the interviewees are accepted? Does anyone know how long after your interview it takes to find out your decision?

Thanks, and good luck!

I think they interview around 750 and accept around 350?

Those numbers sound right. As for final decision notifications, it varies by week depending on when the next Admissions Committee meeting is. My interview group heard back in twelve days. Director Ruiz will tell you everything you want to know about that on your interview day. He will also tell you the exact date you will hear from them.
In my opinion, Michigan admissions is very good about keeping applicants well-informed.

Their turnaround from interview to decision is usually about 7-10 business days. I interviewed on 11/14 but due to Thanksgiving we don't find out until December 1st whereas we normally would have found out Thursday. If you go to their admissions page they show how many of their interviews and acceptances have been offered and the exact dates that their admissions committee meets to decide the previous batch of interviewees. I wish every school would be as transparent throughout the process as UM has been.

they told me and a few other applicants in 5 days that we were accepted
👍 (this was after sending out an email saying that we wouldn't know for 6-7 days)

You can go on to their website med.umich.edu/medschool/admissions and click on a link that will show you their admissions schedule. You can look up the day you are interviewing and see when the next committee meeting is. Should be pretty quick unless you are interviewing like December 19 in which it could be like a month because of the holidays. Good luck!!

I just became complete 11/25 after initial review complete 9/15, but I didn't pay fee/submit secondary/LOR at the time 🙁 Hopefully I'll get an interview in January or so.

Is there any other status update after "Initial Review Complete" that you get before an interview invite?... I've had that one since 7/10

Damn. I don't even have "initial Review Complete" yet. All it says is "evaluations/recommendations" and that I'm still under review. Last update 9/4.

Sigh. This is the one I want...

Did anyone hear back from UMich today? They were supposed to have a committee meeting today. For those of you who interviewed in the last couple weeks, did Robert Ruiz say when you'd hear back? thanks!

Mr. Ruiz said they were meeting yesterday and that we would find out Monday due to the holiday. He said he expected status pages to be updated between 2pm and 5pm. Its frustrating knowing that they've already decided on us and now we just have to wait five days to find out! It's like waiting for my MCAT score all over again. Good luck to you!

w00t!

I've been complete for more than three months now without any news. Should I be happy that my application has made it this far without any rejection letters or should I be disgruntled by the fact that I have yet to hear from them in any shape or form?

LOVE ME MICHIGAN! I AM ONE OF YOUR OWN!

Anyone else in this situation: interviewed 10/24, application not reviewed in the mid-Nov. meeting due to lack of time, expected to hear back today, but still no change in status online or email notification?? 🙁
