Anyone from Mid-Feb interviews hear anything so far? I was told 8 weeks but people on this thread seem to be hearing in 4-6 weeks...

:luck:For good measure hah

I called two days ago seeing as how I'm near the 8wk mark and she said the terrible NYC weather delayed a few committee meetings, that they were ~2 weeks behind on decisions, etc, so I was told to call back in a month.

wow that is just unreal. When did you interview? Since I had mine on 2/19, does it mean I won't hear back till May???

I was there 2/4. Yea, maybe they'll kick it into high gear so we hear back sooner.

Did anybody else get an email about the committee recommending you for the 2010 Service and Research Scholarship? Is this something that everyone gets or does it mean I have a decent shot at a scholarship?

Hmm, I got that email, too--not sure how common it is. (Maybe we'll get a sense on these boards!) Does anyone know if the scholarships are significant? Before I try to round up a couple of new letters of recommendation, I want to make sure it's worth it! Thanks!!

I also got the email, was also wondering if it was sent to everyone and how much it was. Any current students care to weigh in?

i got it too! they make it sound like they only invite a few ppl to complete it. now i dont feel so special anymore lol!

I got that scholarship email as well. It's pain that I have to look for two recommendations again.

Also I was wondering, for people who mail their $100 deposit, did you get a confirmation email from Einstein that they received it? I mailed mine (regular mail) last thursday, and they informed me that it hasn't arrived yet. Appearantly the office is closed for tomorrow and the day after so I'm not sure if I should just send another check priority mail, just in case. Do you guys to if there is online and more secure way to do this? I don't trust US postal office and it makes me nervous.

the office is actually closed the entire week because it is Passover and Spring Break! I think it took at least three or four days for them to email me confirmation they received the check. Maybe give it till the middle or end of next week?

It took them almost two weeks (maybe even more?) before they e-mail confirmed that they received my deposit. I think you should sit tight for a bit. I'm sure they'll process it soon.

I also got the research/service scholarship invite. They might just send it to most accepted students, or maybe they just like SDN 😀

I got the scholarship as well, the two letters are going to be a pain, especially when we only have 3 weeks to get them

if I'm correct that scholarship ranges from $15,000 - 21,000 roughly. if its the same one i inquired about at my interview thats it; i believe it requires financial info and essay(s). i dont know for sure as i havent seen the actual paperwork...still waiting on my decision. i was a 3/8 interview

I interviewd in late Feb and was told that I would hear in 5-6 weeks.May 15 is not that far away so there is a time limit.

If I am accepted in May, I wouldn't be able to say yes without my financial aid package. Do you think they would require the $100 deposit before even letting me know how much $ I am getting?

The 100 dollar deposit is refundable until June 1

Hi. Anyone know how far into May Einstein is conducting interviews? Last I read, they have interviews up to May 17th.

just withdrew... i was schedule to interview 5/14 so if someone is schedule after that and wants to switch, give the admissions office a call and see if they will let you take the spot!

good luck!

i received the notice by e-mail. but they also send it by snail mail afterwards...... as for whether i heard anything in between interview and acceptance... yes... i was sent an e-mail saying they looked favorably on my apps and asked me if i was still interested in the school... but i don't think everyone gets this... i think most pepo either gets, rejected, wl, or accepted right off the bat...

According to last year's thread it seems that the later interviewees (March and later) got this email. I'm curious if the late interviewees this year will be getting that email.

Ok so I just called them (interviewed on 2/2) to ask whatsup and they said there was 'no decision' yet...oh well...guess i'm still waiting...this school is SO slow...

i posted this a few days ago...we're in the same boat i guess...

I interviewed 2/12 and am still waiting on a decision. However, I have acceptances at several other schools. I would appreciate it if anyone has any advice/knowledge on the following:

1) When can I expect to hear by. I would prefer to know by May 15th (with a financial package) so I can decide between this and another school. At the rate they are going, is 5/15 likely?
2) My mother is a nurse at Montefiore. She has told me that her MD colleagues' children get discounts at Einstein. Does anyone know if I will be able to get this and what the $ amount would be?
3) I remember being told that housing is around $400/mo. But the website says "range from $364 to $1090 per month". Is it pretty certain I would get something close to the lower end of the range because I can't afford anything over $500.
4) Lately I have been leaning towards SUNY Downstate, which has tuition at 23K. I would be willing to go to Einstein if I can get fin aid making it about 30K/yr. How likely do you think that would be (including institutional aid and if I am able to get a discount b/c of my mom)?

Excellent questions. The answer lies in the office of admissions. The school is very slow at getting back with respect to interview results. If money is the criteria ,then downstate is the choice. I would not mortgage my future unless I had no options. Apparently you have a good alternative.

Did they mention in any of ur interviews that we had to fill out a CSS form? I had no idea, I had filled out my fafsa march 1st, and i just did my css now... that sucks..

no there was no discussion about fin aid unless you asked....i did the fafsa before march 1st as well but does the CSS need to be filled out if you dont have a decision yet?

I would wait until you have been accepted unless CSS is required by another school that you have been accepted to. It cost $$$ to send the CSS profile to schools.

This is from their website:
Applicants for admission who wish to be considered for need-based institutional aid should submit the CSS Profile application by the March 15 deadline, even if they have not received an offer of admission yet.

I had called financial aid and asked them if I need to complete the CSS even though I hadn't been admitted. They told me I can wait until I'm admitted, but that filling out the FAFSA needs to be done. Don't know about waitlist though.

Ok, so before everyone starts freaking out about the finaid stuff....I called the fin aid office in Feb and they told me that students who are still waiting on a final decision CAN submit all the things for financial aid except tax forms (I think there's a total of 3 things) at any time between now and when they are notified of acceptance. But you don't have to submit anything, because the office doesn't start processing anything until you are actually accepted. It just helps to have everything already at the fin aid office so that as soon as you get accepted they can start working on getting you a fin aid package. They do ask not to send you taxes though until you've already been accepted. Hope that helps, and good luck everyone!

Thanks for clarifying =)

Could someone please link me to the SDN Einstein Interview Feedback page? I can't seem to find it through Google. I can only find a page that displays the date of the Comments, but none of the actual content included in the comments. Thanks.

I'm having trouble deciding what to write about for the 2nd essay in the scholarship application, can someone pm me what they are writing or going to write about?

Has anyone who interviewed in feb heard back yet?

I was wondering this too, when was the latest interview that has heard back so far? I interviewed end of Feb., I'm probably not going to hear forever! This school is so slow...
