Need some advice y'all. If I already sent an LOI prior to being waitlisted, does it make sense to send another LOI? I kind of feel like whatever I write will just sound repetitive. Instead, I was thinking of submitting an application update. I have 1 abstract accepted for publication and a manuscript I aim to submit later next month for publication. I'll be presenting the abstract at a conference in May. Since these are 2nd author publications in high-impact journals, would they be of any benefit to my waitlist ranking? Is this considered a "meaningful update"?

If someone has an idea on the best approach to take, plz let me know cus I'm stressing!

Did you send the LOI in the portal? If so, would you be able to "edit it" with your current updates?

You could always do an update letter or letter of continued interest

Yeah, I sent it through the portal. I ideally wanted to keep the first one on record to show "continued dedication". I might just end up doing a letter of continued intent (if that's a thing lol).

For those who've gotten the campus preference email, is it just picking between Augusta, Athens, and Savannah? Any mention of Augusta and then doing clinical years at a regional campus?

Just a ranking of which campus you prefer and a short blurb box (per them, no more than 6 lines) providing justification to your preference.

Anyone else still not get their WL campus assignment email yet? Just hoping they didn’t forget lol.

I wonder if the ratio of students matching into specific residency programs varies much between campuses. Do they just average the campus match rates together and put that number on MSAR? Does anyone know?

Important update for those on the alternate list, who applied to the regional clinical campus pathway. I received this email from admissions when asking why we hadn't gotten campus selection emails yet, "Because you are in “Other Special Programs” looks like you want to do your clerkship on the NW campus. You will be automatically assigned to Augusta Campus for your pre-clerkship. You will not receive a form to fill out."

From what I gathered, if given acceptance for any spot that opens up, we will automatically be put on the Augusta (Years 1-2) -> clerkship (Years 3-4) (NW or SW) track. Not sure what this means regarding specific WL ranking or whether we are mainly evaluated for the regional pathway spots. This is all super confusing rn so I hope they provide some clarity going forward.

Thanks so much for clarifying. I hope being regional doesn't hurt our chances, because I'd be willing to attend any of the campuses lol

Of course! Given this whole pathway being brand new, I guarantee even admissions doesn’t know how it’ll work out this year lmao. Of note: Regardless of what spot opens up, we will be forced to attend the pathway we applied for. I guess that means no one in the pathway will be able to do Savannah or Augusta all 4 years.

I think one of these methods will be used by them (ofc I’m speculating 100%):

1. Only considered for pathway and given preferred admissions for spots that open up for pathway.

2. Considered for all spots, automatically placed on pathway if accepted, WL rank determines whether you get spot or not.

3. Considered for all spots, automatically placed on pathway if accepted, pathway applicants given preference for pathway spots that open up over regular admissions applicants.

4. Considered for all spots, automatically placed on pathway if accepted, ranked higher on general WL bc of pathway.

Personally, I’m hoping for 3 or 4 as that maximizes chances for an A. I’m losing it mentally lmao my god I hate being waitlisted.

I called earlier and was also told that since on regional pathway we would automatically be placed on Augusta list for preference. She acted like I was still being considered for the regional pathway. Again, like you said above not sure what that means in terms of waitlist. She also just told me to send transcripts once finished with undergrad degree.

Match is different for the different campuses. They claim the regional campuses actually match better than the main Augusta campus. Despite that, I'd guess they put this regional campus admissions pathway together because there weren't enough people in previous classes actually wanting to go regional campuses.

Personally, I'm planning to rank a regional campus number one for clinicals because to me, the pros outweigh the cons.

If anyone wants more information about any clinical campus you can pick out of Augusta (Augusta, Marietta, NW, or SW), DM me and I can send you more info.

This is a silly question that I should know the answer to, but does anyone know if you can still submit additional letters of recommendation after you are put on the waitlist?

You probably can thru AMCAS by uploading the letter and then maybe sending an email to the school letting them know?

Do we know when we're getting campus assignments? Ik last year it was a week after visit day but some people got it in May 🙁 which sucks if you want to look for housing early

Does anyone know if you are able to go back and edit your campus preference rank list once you hit submit? Or is it set in stone?

I don’t think you can edit it on the portal after submitting but you can always email admissions and ask if they can change your preference for you.

For those who are familiar with MCG, does anyone know the Step 1 pass rate?
I think they were inline with other programs. Expectations were 4-7% fail rate and MCG was not worse than that. I know Emory had a much worse drop after the P/F move. Friend who goes there was telling me about how they brought in a step 1 consultant and are much more involved this year.

Most importantly, remember to focus on yourself and stay consistent. You will be fine 🙂

For the people who got the Harrison scholarship, does this mean you're 100% planning to commit MCG over any other school? I'm curious because I see pre-meds on Reddit constantly talking about leveraging financial aid packages to a get better deal at a more competitive but expensive program 🤔

I definitely like other programs better but not sure when/if I’ll hear back about scholarships from them. They gave us 2 weeks to accept the Harrison, so I’m hoping I get word from other schools before then to be able to decide. I wish we had til April to make a decision!! But I definitely am not 100% committed to MCG even with this.

Anyone get the open house invitation email?
Yes, the Savannah one. Do we think it’s important that we go to that? It would be hard for me to make it, but since I’m WL if it’ll make a difference I’ll make every effort to go

Yea, has anyone gotten an Augusta or Athens open house invite before. I haven’t done an official tour at any of the campuses. Should I have already toured campuses officially, was that even possible

Yea I have the same question
