I was wondering this too, when was the latest interview that has heard back so far? I interviewed end of Feb., I'm probably not going to hear forever! This school is so slow...

Yeah I interviewed in Feb and haven't heard either. By the time I hear back, they probably won't have any scholarships/aid left too. It's too bad this school is so slow because I would have liked to go here but as the days go on I'm feeling more set about Downstate.

I received the interest mail like ages ago. And I never heard back from the committee after. Anyone else out there in the same situation? Or did everyone else get interviews.

I don't understand why they would send out an email like that if they didn't intend to interview those people.

Withdrawing from my acceptance. Good luck to those on the waitlist and for those who have already decided on Einstein.

soo... I got the 'ol rejection letter in the mail today from my Feb. 19th interview.

Really super disappointed.. Is there anything I can do from here or do I just take it?

maybe you could try sending them an LOI..
btw if u don't mind me asking, which do you think cost you the acceptance? stats or interview? thanks

Sorry to hear that. I do not think there is much that can be done once you are rejected.

I'm in this situation. I'm assuming it's a rejection and they just sent that email to make sure they only spent the time going through the applications of people who were still interested.

One of the above posters already found out about the result from his/her Feb 19 interview. I, too, interviewed on Feb 19 but haven't heard back yet. How do I find out about the decision? Should I just call them up or email them?

I interviewed 2/12 and I think it went well. Would I have heard back by now if it was an acceptance or does that fact that someone who interviewed after me heard back have no bearing on whether or not they have reviewed me?

I'm wondering the same thing...and I interviewed back on Feb 2...

Hey i really think that you should give them a call because u just passed the 10 week mark and going on to the 11th week and it is just way too long to be normal. maybe they'll pull up your file and have it reviewed tomorrow once you call. (they meet on wednesdays according to my interviewer.)

I called and she checked my status on the phone and said there were delays.

did they explain what's delaying your apps? cuz if someone who interviewed in mid feb are hearing back already... you deserve a better answer than that! 😡

I don't understand either.

I didn't hear back after replying to that email and sending in an update letter.

i sent them an update email back in december and did not hear back. when i was interviewing in march, i started talking about the stuff on my update email and my interviewer said he did not have these info in my file.

same boat here (mid feb interview)...just speculation but I was thinking its possible that they are just weeding out applicants. So far the only answers that were posted from mid feb interviews were rejections...

accepted kids know when orientation is this year?

trying to plan my last summer vacation 🙁

Just like me...Not happy at all...was the last school I had to hear from after getting only rejections.

to ppl applying for the service and research scholarship- do we need to RE-submit our financial aid forms? Or is the one time to the student finance office enough you think?

I do think its believable that they are slow due to losing time from the weather and possibly to my interviewer not showing up to all the committee meetings.

Maybe with the rejections, they don't need to discuss you at a meeting because some small flaw - a note in your file that your interviewer didn't like you or a low gpa/mcat - is enough for them to auto-reject at some point. That may explain why rejections are hearing back sooner. The lady I called did say "no news can be good news."

Oh and I called Ms. Barcia because I found her phone # on an email I got from them previously.

The whole campus was on break for Passover. I work for an orthodox MD and he took off time from Friday 3/26 to Wednesday 4/7. I was up at Einstein last week Wednesday and a second year mentioned that it was their first day back. I interviewed 2/17 and haven't heard back yet either. It's frustrating, but at least understandable.

I just called (I interviewed feb 22) the lady on the phone said it'll be 2 to 3 more weeks........ Oh man, don't want to wait anymore!

:wow: crap that's a long time... i probably won't get my decision before 5/15 then

Yep, I just called too, interviewed on Feb. 2 (> 10 weeks ago) and was also told that it would be about 2 more weeks. The woman said that there were a few committee meetings that were missed because of snowstorms and passover. Oh well...it is what it is...

Is anyone engaged planning on going to Einstein? I am recently engaged, but after talking to the housing office, they said that the only way they will allow my fiance and I to move in together is if we get a domestic partnership. However, in my state, DP is restricted to homosexuals or heterosexuals with one partner over the age of 62. We have already planned our wedding for next summer (2011) and are stressing over this prerequisite.

tjquinn, i thought that if you can show proof that you have been living together for at least 1 yr, that is a way to get housing without an official marriage or partnership. maybe if you have been doing this you can get it! good luck and congrats on the engagement!!!!!!!!!!!

Riss,

That is what I originally thought as well. In fact we have been living together for 4 years. When I called to request the relevant forms, the lady was particularly concerned about whether or not we have a domestic partnership. The couple I spoke with at Einstein, who were not married, were rejected from housing until they received DP. Unfortunately, I am nor from CA, where heterosexuals can get DP. The woman on the phone said a lack of DP is a dealbreaker, and then offered me no other option but to expedite my wedding, which is not going to happen, for obvious reasons. I was just wondering if anyone else is going through these hoops and how they might have persuaded the housing office to let them move in with their fiancé.

On a different note, thank you fir the congratulations, we are very excited about starting a new part of our lives in NY

hey, im actually engaged too, but my wedding is in june, so this isnt an issue for me. the only thing i can think of that would definitely work (but you probably won't like it that much) is to just get your official marriage license in a city hall and just hold off on the ceremony until summer 2011, or whenever. you don't even have to tell anyone, lol, just go get the darn piece of paper and it will all be good...again, i know its not ideal...

Yeah, I see your point... However, it seems like a bastardization of the whole process. I want to get married not because Einstein requires it, but out of love and respect for my partner (which this seems contrary to). Since you are getting married in June, congratulations by the way, how are you submitting the relevant forms? They will most likely put a hold on your housing application until June, and at that point, do you think they will still have room? The housing application seems to suggest the first come first serve business might leave latecomers vulnerable.

so i'm actually not going to einstein, and the only thing thats really an issue is the forms for the fin. aid, b/c there's a sudden change in status, so i was told to file as single right now, and htne to update everything after i get married...

Congrats to you too!!

does anyone know when they would start reconsidering ppl from the waiting list?

Since they interview into May and since February people haven't even gotten their decisions yet, I feel like they won't draw on the wait list til after May 15th or maybe even June 1st (Einstein's withdraw deadline).

hi! so i just saw on the financial aid website

http://www.einstein.yu.edu/financialaid/content.aspx?id=19220&ekmensel=15074e5e_2856_2880_19220_6

that loan applications are due May 1, but how can we apply for loans if we haven't received our financial aid packages yet.... can someone help me understand this please ?!

do u have the einstein financial aid 2009-2010 checklist or the questionairre? on there, it says if you are only applying for loans its due may 1, 2009. It came in the financial aid emails a while ago.

if you are applying for einstein grants and loans (i think you would be in this one) its due may 15 (doesnt give us much time but i think we should know by then)

how does it work for 2 students to share a 1 bedroom or for 3 students to share a 2 bedroom apt? do students double up in the bedroom or does someone use the living room as a bedroom?

they are converted 2 br into 3 br. Each person has their own personal room with a door. There is even a living room still thats quite large so no need to worry!!

Can anyone tell me what the typical daily class schedule is like at Einstein for years 1/2? i.e., 8-4 or 9-1. Thanks

It appears that the school is still stuck in the middle of feb as far as acceptances are concerned. At this rate the march people will know sometime in May.The deadline of May 15 may nave no value for most of us who are still in limbo.

I think they are stuck in the begining of February as well. I interviewed 2/1 and have yet to hear back and someone I know interviewed 2/4 and also has yet to hear back. Also, I know of people who interviewed 2 and 3 weeks after me and they recieved a waitlist. Someone posted that they interviewed 3/8 and was rejected. Does anyone know of anyone accepted in this time period? Does anyone know if there is a reason for waitlists given to people who interviewed 2/20 and people who interviewed 2/1 havent heard yet?
