in response to smmypnts: I interviewed in mid-Feb and have not heard back yet. But people who interviewed after me have.

the people who interviewed after you that have heard back, did they get an acceptance, waitlist or rejection?

Can anyone tell me what the typical daily class schedule is like at Einstein for years 1/2? i.e., 8-4 or 9-1. Thanks

Days start at 8:30 (9:30 after anatomy classes are done) and end around 3 or 4 PM. Classes typically end around midday.

On Monday and Wednesday afternoons, there's Intro to Clinical medicine which seems to be less like a class and more like interviewing patients and the like. Intro to Clinical Medicine is not every monday and wednesday so sometimes they get out earlier than 3 PM. On Tuesday and Thursdays they may have case conferences or more lectures that last till 3PM.

rejections.

One of my friends called today and was told that they were weeks behind. This is nothing new.You would think that they would have just two extra meetings to catch up.I was also told that if they pass the may 15 deadline, that we can accept another school and if we get in at aecom we can change to aecom without being penalized. ??????????????????

How is this possible? I think if you call up another school on May 31st and say "hey can you refund my $100, I want to go to AECOM instead and they have a June 1st withdraw deadline," that other school will just say "our deadline is May 15th and I don't care about AECOMs deadline sorry you forfit $100".

I am sure that paul was putting question marks so we would see that this was impossible.Although the school may have said that statement,we all realize that another school would say exactly what you said. If your school was slow that is your problem. This is not brain surgery. All aecom has to do is have one or two meetings and they would be caught up.They are not the only school that makes you wait 8-12 weeks. We as pre-meds are at a disadvantage .

They should deduct $100 from the tuition of students who decide to attend and first get word of their acceptance post May 15th.

well i interviewed 1/26 and still haven't heard anything from them yet...

i received the notice by e-mail. but they also send it by snail mail afterwards...... as for whether i heard anything in between interview and acceptance... yes... i was sent an e-mail saying they looked favorably on my apps and asked me if i was still interested in the school... but i don't think everyone gets this... i think most pepo either gets, rejected, wl, or accepted right off the bat...

sunny, have you heard anything since that email?

So I reported about the back up a few weeks ago. Called again today and still stuck. Call me back baby! Damn this is taking forever.

In the morning I check my e mail to see if elation is coming my way.In the afternoon I check snail mail for the agony of defeat.

so is anyone else waiting for a pre-interview rejection letter? i am guessing it is a rejection at this point, but still does anyone know if they are done giving out interviews?

I cannot believe that it takes this long to make a decision. I am reminded of a twilight zone adventure that ends with the phrase 'IS ANYONE OUT THERE LISTENING'

Agreed. This is taking way too long.

I interviewed on 04/08...and am dying to find out what the results will be. It pains me to think that those from mid-February still have not received their decisions yet.

Let's all hope they kick up the pace a bit and we'll find out by the deadline (3 weeks from now)!!

Hey all! I just withdrew from my interview for next week. Good luck to anyone still waiting to hear any news!

has anyone who interviewed mid-fed called them about the decision timeline? i can't make any summer traveling plans until i heard from them.

A theory. The committee meets every week, Yet, there has been no movement in a while. If about 5% to 10% use sdn and MDAPPS then we would see at least 1 -2 posts with results.I think that they are waiting until the 15 of may to make further adjustments. Part of the problem is there are people holding more than one a spot even though they will not attend a school. In conclusion.we must wait and next year someone will write the same statements.

What do you think about those still having interviews. Mine is the first week of May. Are theses just WL spots?

I dont think so. I think that since they are taking this long to make a decision on interviews from Feb and on, they are probably going to consider the later one's. Especially since they extended the interview period. I still dont understand why there is this hold up of all the Feb interviews since they accepted people about a month ago, and those people interviewed end of January.

I saw your post and I do not think anyone knows the answer. The only thing we do know is that the system is broken and there is no rhyme or reason. We are all in limbo .There is lots of speculation, misinformation out there. I would just be adding to the the rumor and innuendo.Have patience.

I really don't think they are purposely withholding admission decisions until May 15. I interviewed on Feb 2, and I have called them twice so far, and each time was told pretty much the same thing - that two committee meetings were missed, one due to a snowstorm, and one due to the holiday of Passover. Nevertheless, I am annoyed as it has been almost 12 weeks now for me...

Even if you add bad weather[ny schools had the same weather] and Passover, the school is dreadfully slow. The 15 could have some sort of bearing. One thing for sure. On the 15 you must declare if you have an acceptance. At that time we will see if aecom has a flurry of action.

I personally find it suspicious that they interview later than almost all other schools. Do they have that much trouble filling their class?

guess so, they do reject a hell lot of people considering they are interviewing 10+ everyday since august to give 500 acceptances

do you think it's a good sign then if it's been 11 weeks and we haven't been rejected yet?

No rejection in the mail today.I think that if you do not hear by 12 weeks then something is askew. Then again, I almost doubted that the yankees would win a world title in 2009. Next week brings us closer to the 15 and I feel that it will be pivotal on that date.

Hi all,

Sorry to hear that some of you have been waiting for quite a few weeks for a response. I'd like to get some advice. I have an interview coming up soon, and I'd like to update Einstein with an LOR from my research PI. This is a new PI I'm working with and he has agreed to write an LOR for me. I just don't know the avenue by which I can update the school with the letter. Should the PI send the letter directly to the Director or Assistant Director of Admissions? I don't think he could send the letter before the interview, however. So it would have to be after the interview. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I would LOVE to believe it is a good sign. Lately I've been hearing ppl interviewed in early March getting rejected already. As a matter of fact I've only been hearing about rejections. However, the fact is that no one really knows what kind of sign it is when we all wait this long.

TonightI was in contact with some people who interviewed with me. They have not heard anything. Two of the applicants have been accepted to every school that interviewed them. Therefore, I CAN SAY with reasonable certainty that if you were seen in mid feb or early march the decision has not been made. I cannot swear that rejections have not gone out, I only base my info on their not being rejected.

i know, i figured no one really knows ... but i was hoping for some (false) reassurance going into this weekend. i'll try not to check my email every 5 minutes

Any suggestions, please? Thanks.

Bring the letter with you in a sealed envelope and have your PI sign the back on the seal as well. Hand it in on interview day. Seems easiest to me.

Thanks for the suggestion, mdeast. But I don't think that I could have the LOR by the time of my interview, and so I was hoping that I could turn it in a few days after my interview. I just don't know if I should be the one handing it in or if my PI should send it himself.

You can have your PI upload the letter to the AMCAS letter service. From there you can send it to any school you have applied to including Einstein. If you think you do not have enough time to have the letter uploaded and sent that way, you can have your PI send the letter directly to the Einstein Admissions Office (make sure your PI includes your AMCAS ID on the letter). In my opinion, it is better to have the letter sent by the writer rather than you getting the letter and then sending it.

This is 100% true. They won't consider it if it hasn't been sent on school/office letterhead from the writer themselves. At the very least, they certainly won't accept anything you hand them.

Still no movement today.Iam not sure when the feb and march results will come out."No news is not always good news"Two and a half weeks until the 15 and people are still holding multiple acceptance spots even when they know that they will not attend!!!!!!!!!!!!

aside from the thank you card, has anyone contacted their interviewer? i sent an LOI to the school recently, but I'm wondering if I should continue to stay in contact with my interviewer (i.e. express to them again how much i want to go to the school)? are they still your "ambassador" or do they not matter anymore in the decision? i interviewed back in february.

Thank you for the excellent advice.

Count down to the 15 continues when spots will open and hopefully feb and march results will be posted

No news as the count down is now 17 days to the 15. Maybe this week brings a resolution to feb and early march.
