specifically for OOS people?

Thanks, I just got the interview invite which is my second in the North East. Weird, I guess cold weather likes me more than I like cold weather.
 
august 17th. anyone have any idea on the interview/accepted ratio and any info on applying OOS?

According to LizzyM spreadsheet, ~860 OOS are invited to interview. 80+% of their class is OOS, and their class is ~170 people total. I'm not sure how many people are accepted...maybe double 170?

Edit: do you mind posting your stats? just curious
 
According to the LizzyM spreadsheet, 80% accepted and 80% interviewed are from OOS. I'm perplexed when I see people with 3.75 GPA and 33 MCATs being flat out rejected when THOSE stats are right in the median for accepted people (these people also seem to have strong stats). So what's the deal here? I understand rejection AFTER an interview since THEN they have something to base rejection besides numbers, but why before?

Completed a few weeks back, no notice. Apparently they give you a status update 30 days after?
 
but i'm 33Q/3.5 (3.3 science) with a very strong upward trend (3.8 - senior year, 3.5 - junior year) from UCLA. to be honest, probably what helped me is life experience. I'm part Mexican, studied abroad in Spain and Costa Rica and lived a bit with family in DF (Mexico City), as well as any other life experience points.

Rejection for me. This was the first school I heard back from... ouch! 😱

I'm 3.5 sgpa/cgpa, 36S, no research because of humanities major but decent volunteering and good leadership experience, completed Boston on 9/12.

Was it a long shot for me, or can I attribute this rejection to the crapshoot that is medical school applications?

Boston U is a crapshoot. =)
 
i would not sweat it at all. i applied to wake and didn't get a secondary but got an interview at BU? yeah, the whole is confusing if you don't just accept the one fact of it all: crapshoot. CRAPSHOOT CRAPSHOOT CRAPSHOOT.

i'm just thinking of a vacation I will be taking this summer to get me through this random insanity... brazil!

I hear they interview like 30 ppl / day so there's gottay be someone..

I walked around a bit and it's scary 🙁

Canada definitely feels safer.. :scared:

Don't think so. I got my interview invite at about day 50.
 
Also - does anyone know where that compiled list of the invites/acceptances/matriculates is? Just want to see the breakdown after the interview stage.

Damn how did this happen... there's definitly no time for shopping today..

Do we need to take off our jacket at any time during the interview day?

ok, laughing aside --

If you're at a hotel they should have sewing kits that you can borrow, or even safety pins to pin couple places in your shirt.
 
the whole back side is ripped.. oh man..

if you see a guy with whole lot of pins apparently bulging from the back of his jacket..

estou estudando portugues, mais nao agora sou o homen de poucas palavras. it is really messing up my accent in Spanish.. I sound like I'm drunk in both languages now haha

to those who think it's scary area... i just walked through east oakland at midnight a few weeks ago after an As game. that is scary.

yikes! are you sure its too late to go shopping. just find the closest mall, the public transportation in bostons really good and you can just find somewhere to buy a new shirt (and maybe return said shirt tomorrow lol)?

I was complete on July 14, but I was on hold for MCAT scores until Sept. 2. I got my interview invite Sept. 10. I never received the 30-day notification. I'm not sure if this counts considering I was complete in July.

2nd week of November - and I asked them to push it back a week from the original date.

I received an interview invite this week and they offered dates in the first 2 weeks of November.
 
Not hearing from BU is really driving me crazy! They are clearly not getting my 😍 vibes!! That or they just don't care ~cry~
 
Oct 7th was the first interview group. BU was quite impressive, due in no small part to Dr. Witzburg. They won't make the first wave of decisions until mid-January, so don't worry if you're interviewing before then. My interview was way the heck chill, there is an obligatory ethical question, but my interviewer was so uninterested in this obligation that she just had me talk about an ethical situation from my experiences, which was easy enough. Feel free to pm me with questions.

The entire country of Canada is safer than South Boston?? hahaha.

I am a girl and I walk to school every day (if i go at all), no prob. I live in the South End. The area right around school is a bit rough at night, but once you're a few blocks north, you're fine.
 
Just found out about my rejection here (OOS, complete September).

No. If you read above someone who was complete 7/31 recently got an interview invitation. Just wait.
 
so whats the deal with the application status page - is it still only sporadically working for everyone or is it just me now

lol. Looking at the Interview Feedback I thought this was going to be a stress interview with healthcare Qs and ethics Qs but I had no healthcare Q and 1 ethics Q (I think this is their obligation to ask one.)

Also, it was really conversational, I prepared some of the Qs before hand but one or two sentences down the line, the interviewer interrupted and discussed about what I've just said. Which felt relaxing.. I mean I stopped sweating like a pig (holy craker.. I stammered and sweated so much in the beginning b/c I was so nervous and was lost because BU is huge) but because it was "conversation-like" I feel like I couldn't say all the things I wanted to say.. :scared:

What sort of ethics question? Like a scenario or more "tell me what your view point is on abortion"?
 
I was pleasantly surprised, and really liked the school and the city. The dean reminded me of dean wofsy (from ucsf) for his frankness about the whole admissions process and general enthusiasm.

Anyway, I think this was my best interview in terms of really hitting it off with the interviewer. He was so nice, he gave me his contact info telling me to call him regarding my decision and even to talk about other med schools if i "decide to go elsewhere." 😀

i was complete 9/11. got the rejection on 10/2.
and thanks for the encouragements!! it's more appreciated that you'd think🙂

I would give them a call. Did you get that 30-day notification? I just got mine yesterday, complete 9/8. No news beyond that :xf: Has anyone called in yet? Do they give the "oh, we receive many many applicants, please be patient, blahblaH"-type response or something else?
 
Well, I sent them a polite inquiry thru the status page message system and was told my application was still under review. Their response also stated there was no time-line for when I might hear any more info...so, I guess we just have to wait.

I was complete 9/8 as well, but no 30 day email? what does that mean?
