In all likelihood, you're toast.

Don't worry about it.

Boston has been rejecting everyone... don't take it personal.

I interviewed already and I just want to say that there is hope for people with low stats. I took the MCAT twice scoring a total of 27 both times (10P 7V 10B P and 8P 11V 8B N). I did have a fairly high GPA though (3.8). It's still pretty early in the interview season, so don't lose hope yet!

Good luck! :luck:

What about the MCAT improvement I made?? You dont think they would look at that?

From what I heard, Boston looks at a lot of non-traditional applicants. MSAR says 24% of the last class had graduate degrees, which seems to be higher than the average. And a lot of interviewees that I met had Master's degrees (public health, bioengineering, etc.) Based on the stats of people getting rejected, as you ALWAYS hear, it's not all about the numbers. There's no use comparing yourself without knowing an applicant's full background.

if the rest of your application is solid (EC's, PS, etc..) and you fit the mission of the school I think you still have a chance.. and since you havent been rejected yet thats a good sign!! good luck :luck:

complete late september
stings a bit, but i'm not too sad since i was kind of expecting it given the number of applicants they get and my rather weak stats

Don't feel bad.. its much more than just the stats.

Anyways.. you need to change your pic.. its annoyingly stupid for SDN.

I agree with the last two posts, that thing needs to change please

thats quite fast? I was complete in mid september and got this mail 2 days ago:

Dear M ABC,

It has been 30 days since we sent you a notice indicating that your application was complete and had been referred to our Committee on Admissions for review. While our Committee is accustomed to reviewing a very large volume of applications, this year we have seen an unprecedented number of applications that have been completed early in the cycle. It appears that we will be able to interview only about 10% of our applicants this year, so these reviews are quite challenging. As a result, we are running several weeks behind.

I'm interviewing next Wednesday and just booked my flight from BWI to Logan. I'll post my interview experience when I get back.

I'll be at the mercy of public transportation to make it to my host in Brookline from the airport, it's freaking me out a little haha.

INVITE!!! complete 8/7, damn that was long. they have very early interview dates still open, like next wednesday.

Congrats! That is very good news. I was complete mid/late august, and was starting to lose hope. Good luck at your interview! :luck:

Interview today, as well. Complete 8/10. The only interview date offered is Monday 10/19! (Need to ask for other options...)

I was completed 8/11 and still no news. I was definitely starting to lose hope but this thread gave me home. i will hang in there.

It's been 30 days since my complete date and no 30-day email

😕

Just got my 30-day email, was complete 9/16, really want to go to BU:xf:

Rejected (no interview).

40 MCAT, 4.0 science, 3.95 overall. Weird?

If you read through this thread you'll see a bunch of applicants to BU rejected for having high numbers. They get more than 10,000 applications and are a middle of the road school, so too many people apply to them as a safety, I guess.

Can anyone please give a rough estimation on the cost of taking a taxi from the airport to somewhere within walking distance to BU's campus? Interviewing there next week

thanks!

should be under $30 (including tip) unless the cab driver rips you off.

im interviewing here on 10/23. does anyone have an interview on this day and want to hang out the day before?

So I got the 30 day email a while ago. Since people that applied after me are already getting rejections, I'm assuming they've obviously reviewed my application. So at this point does not having an interview or rejection mean some sort of a hold?

No. BU obviously has no qualms about rejecting applicants. When were you complete? The recent interview invitiations have been for people who were complete in early August, and if you read this thread, there are even people waiting from late July still. You are still in the running. I myself was complete 2 months ago, and am still waiting as well.

Complete 1st week of September. I find the BU admissions process extremely strange. How can they be so far ahead when it comes to rejections but still be still at August when it comes to interview invites. At this rate I probably won't hear anything till next year!

And what's even funnier is they reject some pretty good kids. I have friends who are great candidates and have been bluntly rejected.

It's all weird and the absurdity makes me want to shoot something.

It's not that weird. BU knows they would be a prime "back up" school for the kids with 4.0's and 40's because they have no residency bias and their research is respected.

They don't want half their expected class to hold out in the spring using multiple acceptances as leverage for financial aid. They also know that their cost of attendance is so high that many students will settle for a less prestigious program instead of taking out $300,000 in loans.

They ignore the 'perfect' applicants in favor of someone with weaker scores who is more likely to attend the school.

That's not quite true. I know people who interviewed with 3.9+ and close to 40, and people with 3.5 and 30.... rumors about filtering out high GPA and MCAT are false. High stats don't guarantee an interview/acceptance, they just make it more likely. It definitely doesn't preclude you from receiving one. Some schools care more about it, some care less. It would seem that BU is somewhere in the middle.
