I cant do that until their picture part works for me-_-...anyone have the cover letter you need to mail a pic in? I dont have any suitable pics on my comp, so i went to costco and got some passport photos, but i need to mail them in 🙁

I get an error when I try to print the cover sheet and of course today they're probably closed. Sorry!!

man i forgot that today most schools are going to be closed...no wonder i cant get anyone to answer!! I have like 4 secondaries that are like 95% done but i have 1 question and no school is getting back to me🙁...I guess ill just submit boston and now mail the pic in much later:shrug:
 
I still have not been emailed by BU.... have received 9 other secondaries, but for some reason BU has not made it.

does it make any diff if we submit now or after the long weekend? they wont process it until then anyway! i am prob gonna wait till monday..
 
are you guys doing this section? i want to do it but I am running out of things to say and I want to try to submit asap.=(

You guys don't have your secondary essays proof-read?
 
SDN doesn't really give a good sample of a normal population. Yes, there are people here that submitted their primary app on June 2nd and have already written all of their secondary essays so they can submit those the first day too.

Most people don't do that. Hell, at my school, I was the first person to tell the pre-professional office that I needed my letter of evaluation, which means that no one else has received a secondary yet 😱
 
sorry for being massively ocd about this..i am just trying to submit early because my stats arent that great and I have a better chance if I get them in as early as possible. But yes, I am getting them proofread, I am just trying to not sit on them too long because they pile up very fast.

I proof read but i had all my prompts done for each school about 2 weeks before i even submitted my primary, so i can do a fast turn around time on just about every school unless they change their essays (like rfu -_-). Not to mention honestly these are easy to write for the most part and there is so much overlap you can often use the same essay multiple times once youve written some of the secondaries.
 
i talked about growing up in nepal..since it says ' if you have experienced another culture' bla bla.. i hope that will be ok..i staggered mine..I did about 10 a few weeks back..but I need to do more for the july 15th opening ones..and what I did was write a really long strong essay and using parts of that for each essay..

but most of it is similar!

sounds good. That is the essay that you should defiantly not leave blank.
 
i think i will sit on it for tonight and see if i can come upwith something..i was going to talk about the major i created in undergrad..but i kinda mentioned it in my PS but i dont want to be redundant..and since i have already talked about health disparities..talking about me thesis may be reduntant too..we will see. =(

Has anybody figured out the LOR section? It lists my letter packet, but under "received?" it has a circle with a line through it. Anybody have a different symbol under that category?

I saw that when I was filling out the secondary. I think it's just that they haven't uploaded the LOR from AMCAS yet. My application status still says not complete under LOR/committee letter received.

So can we submit with that circle and line, or should we wait until that symbol changes?

-_- also could simply mean they played some type of MMORPG, or Battle.net game haha. Everyone eventually starts making these faces -_- o.o ^_^ and all such variations. lol

If you're ready to submit, did you notice that your essays were cut off in the preview or that the LORs are missing from the corresponding section in the preview?

Do you think working with children in summer camps (several summers worth) is considered "people unlike yourself"?
 
hmm depends on what kind of children you worked with. Was it a camp specific for children with learning disorders or something of the sort?

I had a related question, what if you are an international student, then would writing about experiencing a different culture in the US be held against you?
 
Since it says anytime during your educational history/timeline....does this mean you can talk about things that were significant to you in HIGH SCHOOL?

I mean I was born there and lived there till 4th grade. I just feel that's kinda a lame way to tie in education considering I was so young, but in terms of the cultural experience/diversity, I feel like it is a good thing to add especially since there is no mention in my AMCAS (except like 2 lines in my PS)
 
Hey Simran, since you talked about growing up in Nepal, how did you tie that into the "education" part. I want to do talk about my native country as well, but the word education experience keeps from talking about it.
 
Did BU get rid of their optional essay section which was there last year?

Haha, as far as I am aware, BU is active 7 days a week, in one way or another. It seems thats how the city of Boston itself works. haha

Well, even though I'm an immigrant, I chose not to talk about that since I sorta mentioned that in my PS. So, I talked about my tennis training which spanned from when I was like 8...through high school...until now. If it's significant, and you can show your passion through the essay, I don't see why it would hurt.
 
how many of u guys are not doing anything for the timeline/education essay.... i dont really have anything special to say and feel like i would be bsing something 🙁

They dont screen but remember if you verified late june or so they may just not have sent it out yet. Someone above said boston is really behind this year on sending 2ndaries out.
 
Hmm, so my college's orgo sequence is 2 semesters of lecture-only and 1 semester of experimentation (lab), but BU is requiring a whole year of "orgo with lab".

I called the admissions line and they said that I did need an entire year of lab and that I should just send a message to the message center. Anyone else have this issue?

I have this issue as well. Can I not just explain on the box they give us?

I just used the box :shrug:. I figured if they have an issue with it they can email me or i will be notified prior to matriculation or something...UCs are so messed up blue i have the same problem with phys and ochem labs with UCI...Im pretty sure its sorta understood that this is how UCs are and its probably fine. As theres thousands of us each year accepted and we all have the same problem with these 2 labs. I mean I doubt everyone from a UC takes one more semester of phys and ochem at a CC or something...that would make zero sense.

Not sure where you are wilsonfan, but if you go to a UC im pretty sure its a non-issue.
 
I mean, maybe, but the person on the phone sounded like the admissions committee looks poorly upon people without a year of lab, and so in my message I asked if I could provide anything else to help my application (like, get the professor to write something about how his class is twice as hard or intensive as other classes or something)
